The whole "crystal being under the Krispy Kreme" thing is because the director/screenwriter thought it would be hilarious for something so powerful to have ended up underneath something so mundane and in early scripts they had McDonald's as the placeholder location instead.
There is a deleted scene with the two girls, when they’re are in the coffee shop doing the thing with the fork, and at the end they look to the right and their is the original Tommy and Kimberly looking at them, and they look back at each other, almost as if they’re reminded of when they were rangers.
Yes I’ve seen that scene on UA-cam afterwards I was wondering why they kept that out

Just a fun fact, Jason, David Frank got kicked out of the premiere for taking a picture of his cameo in this movie on his cell phone.
There's a delete scene where Jason and Kimberly kiss after talking in his room. They cut it out because it didn't help Kim's character growth. I haven't seen any movie to delete a romantic moment for giving a character the development she deserves. I think that's something to praise about this movie. They cared more about the characters than other stuff.
The guy who played the blue ranger did his own stunts.
I love the Power Rangers franchise!!! This movie had been very well done; I was so hopeful that they'd continue on with the story. I wanted to see whom they'd cast as the new Tommy and I was looking forward to him kicking the rangers' butts. lol RIP to my all time favorite, JDF. Rest in power.
Sadly, it didn’t make enough money to get sequels.
I’ll admit I had problems with it (not all of the humor worked, it lacked action, and it being PG-13 limited its audience, though Barbie was a hit?)
Fun fact: Brian Cranston is a cameo in this movie as well. The blue ranger name is called Billy Cranston cause Brian used to voice some of the villains in MMPR show
Trini is wearing a 1973 shirt as a nod to thuy Trang who was born in 1973 but unfortunately passed
Ludi Lin was great in this movie. He plays Lu kang in MK as well.

I loved this take on the Power Rangers and I truly wished it got a sequel since it had so much potential and actually was unique and took risks while still feeling fresh and new. I love seeing more and more people appreciate this underrated movie
The cast chemistry and the portrayal of the Rangers is so amazing! Others see them morphing one time as a negative, but I see it as a positive because it represents their bond! Love this movie to death!!!
It’s an interesting story why they chose Krispy Kreme as the location of the crystal. During pre production they trying to figure out where to have the crystal they thought of a temple or a shrine but nothing would work they were headed to McDonalds to get a bite to eat when of them in frustration said why don’t we put it under a McDonalds. So somehow they settled on Krispy Kreme.
I love that you guys collaborated with Badd Medicine cuz I watch you guys both and yes what made me live watching them was bcuz of their reviews they're so good and wholesome and The Oak always has such a deep words to say I love I found them this year. And I watched all the Harry Potter reactions right when they were posting them and then The Oak getting on the band wagon finally towards the 5th and I love how Harry Potter helped him become even more open-minded with other movies later on they've done. But yea love yous! I was so excited when I saw you were gonna collaborate with them! Hopefully you'll get another chance to do it again. 😊 And I follow you both on Patreon!

I was fucking OBSESSED with this movie..power rangers ruled my child hood and this was done perfectly to me I don't care! (Ps Yellow Rangers parents left before rita confronted her although in my opinion it wouldve been cool af if they ran in during it and maybe got killed or hurt to fuel Trini to ignite a piece of her armor or something) but I was on acid in the theatre so this movie was literally and metaphorically blowing my mind

When I saw this in theaters, I thought it was a good movie. I love the representation for two communities that I'm part of. Having the Yellow Ranger be a lesbian (supposedly unconfirmed) and the Blue Ranger be autistic was a good way to advocate for both communities. My two gripes with the movie are that I wish Goldar looked somewhat more like he did on the show version, not like a giant pile of 24 karat gold sludge, and I wish the combined Megazord toy felt like it was worth its price point for each individual zord that I bought to form it. Combined together, the Megazord feels really cheaply made and hollow, you could actually feel the light weight to it, compared to the three megazords from Dino Charge in my collection, which are more dense, like a paperweight. And you cannot argue that the two original cast member cameo appearance was iconic. Amy Jo Johnson and Jason David Frank's (RIP) cameos were awesome.

55:36 - This is a really good point - though I feel like they were a bit heavy handed about it. Each character had two unique personality quirks that somebody could relate to. Jason's the Star Quarterback in Detention, Kimberly's the cheerleader, but she can throw a punch, Zack's a wacky adrenaline junkie, but he also takes care of his sick mom, Trini's an outsider tomboy and has a terrible home life because she's secretly a lesbian, Billy is ... black *and* autistic. Not that any one of those things are bad, it just seems a bit convenient. Alpha-5 kind of lamp-shades it right up front with the "different colored kids!" line.
Honestly, I'm not even that mad about it, because I remember the first few seasons of Power Rangers. Who does Zordon think he was kidding? Teenagers with Attitudes? Jason PIMPSLAPPED a guy ten minutes into the movie
I'm actually pretty pissed that we'll never know where they were going with this, because it's clear that the people who made this movie knew EXACTLY where they were going, and were confident enough in that plan to actually get there without cutting corners, or relying on nostalgia to excuse silly writing. I was hooked before they even jerked off the bull.
1 - Yellow Ranger died first. (Thuy Trang, the original Trini Kwan, died in car crash two days before 9/11.)
2 - Yellow Ranger was a familiar looking alien. (Aquitar - yes I looked it up)
3 - Rita being the Green Ranger. (Which explains how she knows Zordon, and why Green is sus.)
4 - Did she say "The Zeo Crystal"? I know there was a Power Rangers Zeo season back in the day (very geometric looking).
5 - I didn't pick up on this one until I started watching some UA-cam reactions to the original Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers series. In the third or fourth episode, that Billy (David Yost) is making some communicators, but discovers that they can be used as a fast-travel system. In the movie, THIS Billy (RJ Cyler), manages to listen to Alpha's exposition, take notes about everything he's seeing in the viewer, and still correctly triangulates the location of the Crystal.
Absolutely loved this characterization of Billy. There's ONE thin reference to how Billy used to say stupid shit in the show, like "Affirmative!" and "Morph-enomenal!" "Momma-Zord? Megazord!"
As an MMPR fan from childhood I really enjoyed this film & it's direction to the show. A lot of changes & different interpretations but it needed something different & still very sad we will never get a sequel with this team
Jason maybe be gone from the world of the living, but he gave us several roles to enjoy.

As long as we can watch JDF play the beloved role of Tommy Oliver he will always exist in our hearts. So please, do not feel the sadness of loss, but celebrate the positive man he was.
when Aladdin came out, starring Mena Massoud and Naomi Scott, lots of people pitched the idea that Mena could play Tommy in a sequel to this movie because:
-he has great chemistry with Naomi.
-can dance and pull off acrobatic stunts.
-looks unbelievable in white.
I just watched this movie yesterday, and as someone who is on the spectrum, I (obviously) gravitated to Billy, blue’s not my favorite color, but he’s quite possibly the best representation of what used to be known as Asperger’s syndrome in any film I’ve ever seen and I jumped for joy when I saw them confirm the diagnosis, instantly my favorite ranger.

The ORIGINAL show was from Japan titled, "SUPER SENTAI" and can be watched for FREE on tubi. It also spawned many different series just like Saban's Power Rangers of which all can be found on the platform.

I remember when I first went to see this movie when I was still in Middle School. I went with my older siblings and my older cousin, and I remember that at one point of the film my cousin said out loud "Jason, you better back off. Kimberly is Tommy's girl." And just about everyone in the movie theater started laughing. It was a fun time and seeing Jason David Frank on the big screen and to see a teaser for him at the end of the film got everyone hyped up. Rest in peace, JDF. "Those who are remembered, live."
I grew up on the Disney Era but I went back and watched Mighty Morphin … huge fan. And a big fan of this 2017 Movie, sad it didn’t get a sequel.

Love the reaction to you guys noticing the Amy and David cameo. Although I am happy they included them, I still think they all should have been invited back for a cameo - including Tuy who passed away. With technology now days, they could've totally worked her in to make an appearance. Still really cool.
Bryan cranstan was a voice actor in the 90s and did some of the voices for the monsters
So Billy was named Cranston because Brian did voice work on MMPR back in 93. He has always been my favorite Ranger.. Also Ludi Lin is in the recent Mortal Kombat as Lui Kang

In zordon original team, the yellow ranger was his wife or something like that , like love interest and zordon was the red. That's why i think she visited the yellow ranger first.

I really loved the movie. My only real disappointments were the lack of the classic morphing sequence and them not shouting "We need DinoZord power, now!". Outside of that, I thought it was great and all the actors/actresses did an excellent job and everyone felt relatable. Elizabeth Banks was great as a much more sinister Rita, and Bryan Cranston was a much more "human" Zordon in this. He wanted to be revived, but the willingness to sacrifice himself to save Billy is what gave the others the ability to trust him.

@@RYMAN1321 I completely agree. I think they would have seen what fans wanted and really worked to fix it for the sequel. But I always felt it would fail at the theaters because, like most fanbases, MMPR has a rabid one at times. As fans, we get so caught up in what we remember from the old days that we don't really give a reinterpretation any chance. I think that played a large part in what happened in this case. I liked the more serious tone to the movie, and the actors were very good. Just needed some key moments from the original show to bring it together, and I'd have really loved it.
@@genkki4776 It is interesting though since a film like Batman Begins that also took a while for him to suit up and telling his origin ended up being a huge success though I find it a bit overrated because of that. Granted it’s far from a bad film IMO
@@RYMAN1321 I think Batman Begins caught on so well because they finally did a Batman movie that was properly darker in tone and humor without much campiness to it. Unlike the Batman movies in the 90s, it didn't go crazy with the musical score or have cheesy lines. It was a genuinely gritty movie for the time. I loved it. And Dark Knight exceeded all my expectations and is probably one of the best sequels ever made.
Love when you mention if any of these actors are doing something now. Jason actor was in Stranger Things and Becky G is an award winning Music Artist.
This movie is highly underrated and gets an A- rating for me

I loved all of the Easter eggs and callbacks. This was the perfect love letter to Power Rangers fans, if you ask me
RJ Cyler, who plays Billy, the Blue Ranger, in the movie, spoke about his character, who is autistic. Cyler said taking on this responsibility in the film taught him a lot about autism.
To get into character and prep for the film, he said, he "shut my mouth and actually just listened."
"I knew that it was my job to show, you know, that people that are on the spectrum are just regular people. Literally, just how we talk, how me and Becky [G, who plays Trini, the Yellow Ranger] talk - they feel the same way, they have the same emotions, they want to be loved, they want people to love, they want relationships," he said. "It's just, like, I was really excited to be able to play that 'cause I know it means so much to so many people."
Absolutely loved this! It was hilarious and entertaining! This was a great movie for me and I hope to see a sequel. I hope they haven’t given up on the idea because they could do SO much more!
And the cameo of Tommy and Kimberly at the end was so dope ! And heartbreaking at the same time

I loved this movie. It was different and there were things I wish they would have stayed traditional but I did appreciate all the throw backs and did enjoy the new stuff for what it was. I am really disappointed we aren’t getting a sequel because I really loved these actors as rangers.

Not sure if anyone mentioned this or not but the reason why you guys like the music is due to the work of composer Brian Tyler. He's best known for movies like Thor 2, Iron Man 3, The Mummy, Avengers 2, Aliens vs Predator Requiem, The Fast & Furious movies, The Expendables movies and more. Now that I think about it, it does have some Stranger things vibes at times too. Tyler is one of the best composers in the soundtrack business these days. Dude knows how to make amazing music!

The storyline is better than expected but the zords and costumes is what upsets a lot of fans. The movies and new series will be on Netflix.

I appreciate all you guys covering this movie! I’ve been a huge fan of the series since S1 when I was a little guy and I went back to it after high school and got obsessed all over again. I’m talking joining RangerBoard, going to Power Morphicon, meeting a ton of the actors, & even starting a Power Rangers podcast (Tribunal of the Grid).
I LOVED this movie! I saw it twice in theaters and I’ve got it on special edition on Blu-ray. The cast was the highlight for me, their chemistry was ELECTRIC. I appreciated how much time and effort was put into establishing each character (though the bulk of Zack & Trini’s focus was left on the cutting room floor) and how it wasn’t until they were united as a team that they could morph. That camp fire scene was amazing! Sure there could’ve been more action and fight scenes but damn it was I into these characters.
PS. Yes, some (if not all) of the main cast do still have relationships today! Naomi Scott mentioned Becky G on a recent IG post and tagged Dacre, RJ, & Ludi! I freaked out! 😂
It breaks my heart that we won’t get a sequel. The cast has gone on to do HUGE things in TV, film, & music since which makes Hasbro not going for another film even more of a head scratcher. Every now and again you’ll see Twitter posts of folks showing their love and appreciation for the film which makes me so happy to know that there were a lot of people who loved it. If you’re interested, there was a tie in comic written by Ryan Parrott (who wrote some AMAZING PR comics for BOOM! Studios) called “Power Rangers: Aftershock” that takes place directly after the film and deals with the aftermath of Rita’s attack.
And just to let you know there was a deleted scene when the pink and yellow ranger was practicing their moves at the restaurant you can see them in the background shock Tommy and Kimberly but they deleted that and just put them at the end
Honestly I loved this movie. It's super underrated the only thing I was disappointed in was Goldar. I'm a fan of the original monkey-man thank you.
Yep, it was originally a Japanese show called Super Sensei which has been going on for almost 50 years. Different iterations and stuff like that. You know like you got mighty morphin Dino Force jungle all that stuff, but what's even more interesting is that in mighty Morphin they actually used the stock footage for a lot of the fight scenes during that time period and I can't remember when it is, but you can actually tell when they started shooting the own fight scenes. It's when The yellow ranger starts wearing a skirt on her power suit because in the original Japanese version the yellow ranger was actually a guy. Also, in the American mighty Morphin power rangers it's a new twist that Rita was the green ranger, but in the American version she actually had the green power coin. So it's kind of subjected that at one point time she was a power ranger or was on the good side because it was Rita who initially gave Tommy the green power coin. He was the green evil ranger before he was just a green ranger.
Bryan Cranston wasn't in the suits. He did voice work. Billy in MMPR is named after Bryan Cranston. His character is named Billy Cranston.
The chills I got every time something nostalgic happened on the movie, it was unreal. The new stuff like with Rita's stuff and the rangers bonding, and becoming a real team by the end was awesome. They did it proper justice

This was a great start to my day. Idc what anyone says as a true power rangers fan and as someone who likes to see reimagining, this movie was fire. Yes it has its flaws and I can go on a whole rant on the good the bad and what could be done differently but this was definitely still a great attribution to power rangers history. That sequel should of been done cause I would of loved to see what more could be done in this universe. Especially with Tommy. RIP. Jason David Frank

The story may seem to be dark, but this is supposedly the original way The Power Rangers lore started off. However, the TV series got watered down to be more goofy and kid friendly. This movie is a more accurate version of them. They really have super human strength and abilities without wearing the suit. This is also a realistic take on the Rangers as well. Also, the actor that played The Blue Ranger, Billy is RJ Cyler. I loved him in "The Harder They Fall" He was fantastic in that movie. Give it a watch if you have the time.

Great great great movie. And i am a millennial who grew up watching the original. The best scene is when they finally morphed into their armor. That first battle in the water was dope🔥🔥🔥.
Sad that this and movie's like dredd will never get sequels....
I grew up on Power Rangers since they came out, I remember when the Green Ranger saga first air I fell in love with Tommy Oliver, I already had long hair like him, I showed up at the bus stop wearing a black shirt and green jean shorts and I loved this remake
This movie was a 7/10 for me but the casting was A+. They did a great job getting talented young actors and the rest of the cast was great too. The 3rd act was kinda a let down as the CG Transformer vs Gold T-1000 Monster battle was just not what I was hoping for. I feel like the filmmakers were onto something really great here and just didn't quite nail it. I enjoyed the movie though.
16:03 remember at the beginning of the movie with Bryan Cranston said right before he died when he buried the crystals or whatever you want to call them the stones that's how that's the answer your question... It's basically like in for when Odin said he who is worthy shall hold the power of Thor... Or basically to put it into easier perspective the stones chose them like a Green Lantern ring would choose the next Green Lantern... Whoever's Worthy... the stones or whatever the hell they're called shows them cuz they all happen to be at the same spot at the same time it wasn't a coincidence
I love the fact all the Badd Medicine guys have all different color microphone are power ranger colors and only missing pink lol i wonder if that was deliberate or coincidence lol

Honestly I love the idea that Rita was once a ranger because it actually makes sense in the show. Let me explain in Mighty morphin power rangers we never found out how she got the green power coin she gave Tommy ( R.I.P Jason david frank) in green with evil but it makes sense if she was the green ranger but she got greedy and turned against the others it could also be she lost the ability to morph because zordon or the morphin masters cut off her connection to the morphin grid. I mean in dino charge Keeper could severe Alfred's bond to the purple energem when he chose to retire so whose to say that the morphin masters the guys who harness the power of the grid couldn't do that to Rita when she joined the United alliance of evil.
