Big Tone is probably one of the most underrated chicano rappers out of the West Coast. His flow, delivery, and growth as an artist throughout the years is on par (if not better) with that of his chicano rapper counterparts from southern california. I just thought it was funny he was trying his hardest to deny any knowledge or existence of the southern cali chicano rappers lol. But great interview and great questions.
Pretty sure he just doesn't or didn't listen to Chicano sureño Rappers bro, Im sure he knows of some but he denied listening to or knowing SPM stuff tho for sure.
I noticed that too lol I would understand not knowing the younger rappers but he for sure does know or heard the older generation of Southern homeboys from down here .
@@snkrvision Summer nights by Lil Rob was probably the most mainstream chicano rap that ever hit the USA along with "lean like a cholo"...Im talking Midwest, East Coast and SouthEast of the country where Mexicans are typically an extreme minority in the latino rap game. Theres just no way you could deny the impact those 2 records had on the entire country for Mexicans and they were by southern cali chicano rappers. But again just silly either way I respect him for holding firm on his beliefs/convictions

He mentioned Pitbull whos from Miami, FL (half way across the country) so how he ain't going to know about vatos from his own state? But its a shame man because I think a track with Big Tone featuring Lil Rob, Shadow or Conejo I would definitely listen to...like for the name and sake of hip hop. Like I said Big Tone doesn't get enough credit and respect for the lane he carved out for himself in rap in general. I always considered Big Tone as one of the greats of chicano rap. I cross my fingers maybe one day in my lifetime they will collab.

I'm NGL... As someone who grew up around and got almost all homIEs on the blue team... Who reps Southern California inland empire and my city with no reservations. Seeing how all these Nortenos act about doing music with us has been disappointing to say the least especially considering there's been more than a handful of solid homIEs who actually banging that was still willing to do it . And they still had a closed fist... Man that's frustrating for us to see. It kinda makes us all feel like... Aight then it's F y'all too then
With all of that said ... Two vatos I see from the norte ( who ironically do podcasts) that I think could actually at the very least do a pod without disrespecting or looking like a clown .. but still stay solid and loyal to their brand ... are tone and Big Mister. I don't fw all these weirdo Nortenos who are obsessed with us so much that they can't even think about showing the least amount of respect for us by being open to different ideas and possibly working towards something positive.
MISTER AND TONE . have never stayed on record that are with the unity but they've never outright dissed in interviews and they still openly rep their side which for the most part a southerner is gonna respect and somewhat admire in them ..to see that that not soft and can think for themselves and don't care about what others fools gotta say about how they handle theirs.
I think Mister and tone . Should try and do a podcast with a southerner that would be down.. it could set some examples.
