I live in South America and used to have the same boxed set, so I imagine it was not a GB exclusive product. Not sure how TSR distribution used to work back in the day.
You deserve more subscribers, brother! Your video's are all excellent. Really appreciate your tone and all the detail. This one was especially interesting to me, as I foolishly ignored DnD on account of being a strict Warhammer/Heroquest kid back in the 80s and 90s.
Thank you! That is interesting you say that, back in the 80s and 90s I was a DnD guy and didnt like Warhammer (I still played and loved heroquest), where as now I love both, and regret not getting in to warhammer back then as getting hold of models nowdays is an expensive business.
@@TheBattlinBarrowGaming Even still having some of my collection from back then I still try to get all the models I pined after but couldn't afford with my allowance. I know the pain/cost of playing catch up well. ;) AD&D books are neither easy nor cheap to come by now as well.
@@TheBattlinBarrowGaming Wow! I just checked that out. Yes, this solves my conundrum handily. I honestly had no idea drive thru rpg had this material. I've always thought of them as the OSR resource, didn't know they had the original material as well. You've either saved me a ton of money or cost me a ton! Thanks!
Battlin' Barrow Gaming, please make more videos talking about old school D&D (e.g. BECMI) and AD&D 1st and 2nd editions. E.g. tales from your early adventures would be fun to listen to, I reckon. :D
I've heard so many different ways to match THAC0. Way I do it is just subtrace the Armor Class from 20 and you have the number needed to roll. So, if the armor class is 10, then it would be 20-10=10, therefore you need to roll 10 to hit.
This is my complete playlist for the Audio CD. I added the maps and monster art from the books on the video for the benefit of the players. I included the tomb reveal as well. ua-cam.com/video/vMuVYZIVPM0/v-deo.html
Its quite expensive on the second hand market but DrivethruRPG do this www.drivethrurpg.com/product/241685/First-Quest-2e?filters=44830_0_0_44294_0 which is pretty much the same set just repacked, and as a bonus its print on demand. You would need the digital + PoD version to get the audio though.

Have you looked into drive thru rpg print on demand for some books? Cheaper than the second hand market

Nice video mate enjoying this series :)
Thank you. I'm really enjoying going over these boxsets.
Thank you!
Glad you enjoyed it
@@TheBattlinBarrowGaming I enjoyed it so much I just bought it
Great video 👍 same contents as the advanced dnd first quest box set.
Not heard of that one before. So it has been effectively packaged up three times then!

I do plan on getting some more BECMI (and maybe AD&D 2nd Ed) on the channel this year :D

Yeah Thac0 isnt as bad as its made out to be I just think our brains are wired better for addition which is why some struggle with it.

Thank you for sharing this for everyone
This set was my main D&D experience until 3E. I still have the dice.
A great way to be introduced to the game
So how much does this cost?
