thank you that brought back alot of memories. I grew up there for three years with my grandparents. I miss that old place. the golf courses were great . I learned to swim at that pool .Went hunting there also . I have not been back there since 1990. God i miss that place. Thinking of retiring there .Or just moving there . Thank you again, great video

I grew up here, I lived in an old building right across from the across from the museum. I miss it sometimes, maybe someday I’ll buy a house there. The pool is one of the largest spring-fed pools in the state, it is fed by the Las Moras Springs.

A lot of these hidden gems in Texas. And elsewhere for that matter. John Wayne's "Alamo" was filmed there, as have been many more Hollywood movies. Bracketville would be a GREAT place for retirees, other than that the nearest major medical availability is a BUNCH of miles away. San Antonio's medical center is more than two hours distant, and the closest place for major surgery and the like. And no Walmart or Target right up the road. On the flip side--no rush hour. Maniac drivers not welcome. Others who value peace and quiet. Small town values. A little bit of heaven on earth.

An interesting video of an intriguing location. To me, it's strange there isn't a map of the resort on their web page.

Some of those fish looked like either carp or big fat tilapia. It was hard to tell for sure. Fun fact Francis. The middle school I went to in Florida was named Ft. Clark middle school. :) Those buildings you were saying the people staying for their meetings or whatever reminded me a lot of barracks. It's just a guess, but I'm thinking the smaller ones were for the officers and the bigger ones were for the enlisted guys.

I wonder if Clark was some famous general in the 1800's? IDK? Thanks for stopping by again and take care.

@@ftkiefel Major John B. Clark was a Infantry Officer who died during the Mexican American War in 1847. As for the town, it was established at almost the exact same time as the fort itself in 1852. It was called Las Moras, the man who started the town was a dry-good merchant by the name of Oscar Bracket. In 1856 it was renamed Bracket in his name, then renamed again in 1873 to Brackettville when it also received a U.S. Post Office. I'm doing some research on a young Cavalry Officer who was stationed there and Fort Sam Houston from about 1906 to 1912. I have got to get out there and explore their history museum.
