Linda has the most beautiful voice on the planet. The perfect blend of power and sweetness. She is an American treasure. Please explore more of her music. You will never be disappointed. 🌺✌️
Well, I am definitely a lover. I believe I first heard this on the radio in the 1960's. then I bought the lp: Linda Ronstadt and the Stone Ponies. That was almost 60 years ago.
Linda is amazing, rock, country, light opera, the Great American Songbook, and Latin music. She has earned 11 Grammy Awards, 31 gold and platinum records. My favorite linda story, she wanted to do a Latin album. her record label said it would ruin her career, she did it and it became the largest selling Latin album in American history, Also same story for her "Standards" album, it went Platinum. She is a LEGEND.
Yes! We need more Linda! This is from the Johnny Cash television show, probably around 1970 when the song was released. She would go on to explode with “You’re No Good” to become the preeminent female vocalist of 70’s popular music before expanding to other genres to great success. Blue Bayou became her signature song and showcases her amazing range and control. Someone To Lay Down Beside Me is a favorite, but you can’t go wrong with her because of the emotion and vocal highlights she brings to any song. And the capabilities she displays on her mariachi-backed performance of La Cigarra are simply amazing!
The greatest most versatile female vocalist of her generation. Linda was the biggest selling female singer here in the USA in the 1970's. This song is from 1970. This performance is live from a TV show. Forget which one.
For a while she was a trio with Dolly Parton and Emmy Lou Harris. They were the darlings of Country music. She spent a stint singing Mexican classics (in Spanish, mostly) then she changed to doing turn of the century American classics. She's getting on in years now but has developed a paralyzing disability and hasn't been able to sing for a long time. My favorite, though a very simple one, is "I never shall marry". She was fond of the simple little known songs.
I grew up listening to Linda Ronstadt and bought most of her early albums. I also saw her in a small club in the '70s and will never forget the experience. I agree with you that her music conveys emotion in a way sorely lacking in most of the new music we hear today. I am just thankful that there are still some genuine artists around, though they have trouble breaking through the noise considered music these days. One such person who exudes emotion and affects me in the way that Linda did, is Angelia Jordan. She is bringing back class to the music industry.
SL, Linda had one of the most amazing voices. One of the very best. She had power, control, range and clarity - and I think those same qualities are in Putri Ariani's voice.
She sounds the same in her recordings or at a live performance. Her pitch is remarkable, her tone impeccable. In her early 20s here and now in her late 70s. All respect to Linda Ronstadt. ❤
Don't feel bad about not having heard of her before. She was mainly huge in the US during her heyday in the 1970s and '80s, not so much in other countries for some reason, and I've noticed that a lot of young people also haven't heard of her. A lot of young people these days haven't heard of Barbra Streisand either. Times change and awareness changes.
I don't understand how anyone has missed Linda Ronstadt. She was the FIRST woman to fill arenas. She was IT in the 70's and 80's. Imho, most beautiful voice ever.
You should watch her sing in Spanish with a mariachi band. La Charreada is amazing to see. She recorded rock, pop, country, light opera, and Spanish among the genres and conquered them all. Such a versatile voice.
1 of my top 5 female vocalists of all time. I love "Blue Bayou". Keep going down the Linda rabbit hole. She and Dolly Parton, and Emma Lou Harris formed a trio. You will like them, too. They are still friends today.
FYI her last name is pronounced Ron-stat. Nice one by her. Do not know what you've covered by Linda already. My favorite song she did was her cover of the Eagle's song called "Desperado". No denying her talent. Linda was a bigtime name/artists when I was a kid growing up in the 1970's. Back then she was everywhere and you could not turn the radio dial without bumping into some of her stuff. Thank you for your reaction. Like the super-sexy accent. Big shoutout from an old, longhaired, rocker from across the pond in the mountains of East Tennessee. U.S.A.. Very nice to see your generation discovering our music. Peace and love. Go with God. Later.
''''''''''''''''''''''''''grew up with her music from her begining....this song and 'diffrent drum' are probably my favorites......still have the original Stone Ponies album...
Glen Fry and Don Henley founding members of the Eagles, were once in her band. Don wrote the classic hit Linda recorded. She also sang Niel Youngs Love is a Rose, her cover live is a must hear.
'Different Drum', by Mike Nesmith, which she recorded with the Stone Ponys, came out in '67, and was a big hit for her. I don't know if it reached number 1.
Oldie but Goldie ❤️ Linda's vocals are wonderful. 🎶 If you want to hear more "everlasting" songs and music, you also should dive into the work of "The Carpenters". Karen Carpenters voice is one of the most beautiful ones (she was also a legendary drummer) and her brother is an outstanding musician. Awesome reaction - thank you
I used to see her perform in a little club called "The Golden Bear" in Huntington Beach Ca. Many times. I once bumped right in to her at an Eagles concert
Not only is this song utterly DEVASTATING but to see her beautiful face and that captivating voice, it kills me inside to imagine the hurt she feels for someone who does not treat her right. Just painful and devastating enduring the loss.
Linda Ronstadt is one of the best female singers & can sing any genre from ballads to country to rock & even opera. She has had so many hits such as "Different Drum", "Blue Bayou", "You're No Good", "Poor Poor Pitiful Me", "Desperado" etc. Ronstadt also did two great duets, "Somewhere Out There" (with James Ingram) & "Don't Know Much" (with Aaron Neville). The Eagles were her backing band till they went out on their own & she has covered a lot of their songs. Linda also collaborated with Dolly Parton & Emmylou Harris on a few "Trio" albums.
The recorded version came out in 1970. Every live version, and they are all live in the ensuing time frame post release, whether it’s this long version, or the short version you watch, Linda nails each and every one as if it was the master recording. Your reaction was spot on .. wow is the only reaction.
Lots of love from NM USA… My grandma had Linda’s albums Canciones de mi Padre on cassette in her kitchen… Just like every hetero guy my age I had a huge crush on her… ❤
Linda was increddibly popular in the US but for some mysterious reason notn som much in UK and Europe...she is the most versastile singher as well .. She could sing hard rock , opera and everything in between..You might be interested in her mariachi music...
Linda was my favorite of all time. 50 years later, Angelina Jordan is the next superstar, and she may be different, but both sing with passion, and delivering the emotions which I love. She had tons of top ten songs over all the years . Check out Desperado in 1977 live version. Amazing ❤❤
People often compare Linda to Olivia Newton John, but in my view Linda had a much more powerful voice and perhaps more range. Not to disparage Olivia who had a beautiful voice, but Linda was just off the charts.
This is a live recording. The studio recording had a different (imho better) pedal steel guitar line. One interesting thing about this is that this song was written by a guy, Gary White, and was originally about a guy getting friend-zoned by a woman.
The brilliant musical gift is Linda's phrasing and breath control. Born storyteller. 1971, I believe. No one attempted to cover it for decades. Now they are, on The Voice, and AGT.
When I was 15 a neighbor of mine wrote the song back on the street again, we walked in after school and she was napping on their couch, she woke up and said we all should sing, like her family had . Years later I was living near where she lived in San Francisco with the state governor, she looked around and screamed I hope she did not recognize me, just once
You should react to some of the "Trio" songs that Linda did with Emmylou Harris and Dolly Parton. They way their voices blend and the harmonies are sublime.
My favorite by her is Desperado. Cover by the Eagles. She's my all time favorite female vocalist. I'm 77 and she was popular in my early 20's so that's why you haven't heard of her. 😊 Patsy Cline is my second favorite.
Carolina Chocolate Drops, Your Baby Ain't Sweet Like Mine. A different genre for you. The lady in this is Rhiannon Giddens who is fantastic as a solo artist.
Hi Samantha, I always enjoy your reactions. This song was released in 1970, I think it was from Linda’s 2nd album. Enjoy your day. Stay safe and stay well. 😎✌🏻🤟🏻🖖🏻
Singing should be viewed as the greatest method of story telling. There was a reason Bards were singers and not just talkers. Music draws you in and the word crafting delivered the message. If either are missing, it doesn't hit as hard.
Linda, is a true American treasure of Mexican and German ancestry, born and raised in Arizona, Southwest USA. There is no Genre of music she cannot do. She is considered to this day the Queen of American Country Rock Music as well as tops on so many others,
Linda has the most beautiful voice on the planet. The perfect blend of power and sweetness. She is an American treasure. Please explore more of her music. You will never be disappointed. 🌺✌️
"There are two types of men in the world: those that love Linda Ronstadt, and those that never heard of her."... Willie Nelson
The SUMMER of 1977 I followed LINDA RONSTADT to 5 states and 6 show in NEW ENGLAND
Well, I am definitely a lover. I believe I first heard this on the radio in the 1960's. then I bought the lp: Linda Ronstadt and the Stone Ponies. That was almost 60 years ago.
Every man's youth crush in the 60's and 70's.
My all time favorite female singer. Period.
The most talented and versatile vocalist of all time.
I use to listen to her everyday.
Linda was simply a stunning performer
She's 77. While not performing anymore, she's still alive.

Linda is one of the most respected and awarded female singers in American history. She was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom a few years ago.
Linda was the goddess of vocal control. By the way, this recording was in 1970.
Linda Rondstat is the greatest mezzo-soprano ever to lend her voice to popular music.
Im almost 70....been listening to linda sing my whole life.....i still think shes the most beautiful woman i've ever seen
Linda was a huge part of the superior musical excellence of the 1960’s and 70’s! Angelic face, magnetic stage presence, phenomenal voice!
Blue Bayou is a Linda must
From another world
One of the best heartbreaking songs.
My friend Olivia just got selected by John Legend on the Voice singing this song. I’ve been a Linda fan since the early 70s. ❤
There's nothing sadder than unrequited love 😥And no one can drive it home like Linda Ronstadt can...
Still my favorite Linda Ronstadt song. Who am i kidding? It's my favorite song.
The greatest most versatile female vocalist of her generation.
Linda was the biggest selling female singer here in the USA in the 1970's. This song is from 1970. This performance is live from a TV show. Forget which one.
THE female voice of the 20th Century.
I would put her maybe second after the GOAT Karen Carpenter.
@@jessieball6195 You beat me to it! KAREN CARPENTER WAS THE FEMALE SINGER EVER!
She doesn't have nearly Linda Ronstadt's range or emotional interpretation.@@richardmoore2124
Linda Rondstat was the first concert I went to, back in February 1979 in Brisbane, Australia.
Yes, this was live. But live or studio makes no difference. Linda's vocals are always flawless.
When a great voice meets a well-written song. Linda had great flexibility in styles/genres.
Must say my youth in the 60/ 70's best songs ever. Real instruments too. Wait till you discover others.
This album came out in 1970.
She has passion, soul, softness and
her versatility in unmatched
Fantastic performance.
Agree!
The ONE and ONLY Linda Ronstadt....she's incomparable
1 of my top 5 female vocalists of all time. I love "Blue Bayou". Keep going down the Linda rabbit hole. She and Dolly Parton, and Emma Lou Harris formed a trio. You will like them, too. They are still friends today.
So sad. A lyrical masterpiece. Beautiful vocals.

A beautiful song that showcaseD Linda Ronstadt voice a song that i’ll never get tired of hearing
You ought to hear her sing Opera she knocks it out of the park
Glen Fry and Don Henley founding members of the Eagles, were once in her band. Don wrote the classic hit Linda recorded. She also sang Niel Youngs Love is a Rose, her cover live is a must hear.
I had that very same reaction when I first heard Linda perform this song, wow.
You started with my favorite Linda vocal.
Great reaction. Very emotional performance. Beautiful lyrics, instrumentation and phenomenal vocals.
Epic reaction!
Each time i hear this song i tear❤.we're not in earth but in heaven ❤. Thanks a lot mademoiselle linda ronstadt ❤
June 1970 first released. Beautiful then, beautiful now. Timeless music of Linda Maria Ronstadt.
The song came out 1970. It was her first chart topper
'Different Drum', by Mike Nesmith, which she recorded with the Stone Ponys, came out in '67, and was a big hit for her. I don't know if it reached number 1.
Oldie but Goldie ❤️ Linda's vocals are wonderful. 🎶

You *might* like every song she ever sang ❤😊

My favorite female artist who I had a huge crush on! Her “Blue Bayou” and “Desperado” are two that you should check out….she’s amazing
Wow!
Certainly the greatest singer of her generation, and maybe ever
This is my favorite. Try listening to 'Love Has No Pride'.

Totally live on the Johhny Cash show. The album track is well worth a listen too. It sounds quite different.

She was big in the 70s.

Live, u can hear her breathing in the microphone
The best vocalist ever!
"Someone to lay down beside me"
I’m so glad you reacted to another Linda ronstadt. I’ve been waiting for you to do so. Thank you. More please.
My favorite by her is Desperado. Cover by the Eagles. She's my all time favorite female vocalist. I'm 77 and she was popular in my early 20's so that's why you haven't heard of her. 😊 Patsy Cline is my second favorite.

1970 ish..yes live
Hi Samantha, I always enjoy your reactions. This song was released in 1970, I think it was from Linda’s 2nd album. Enjoy your day. Stay safe and stay well. 😎✌🏻🤟🏻🖖🏻
Along with my beloved Karen Carpenter, for me, the two greatest female voices in modern music.
Singing should be viewed as the greatest method of story telling. There was a reason Bards were singers and not just talkers. Music draws you in and the word crafting delivered the message. If either are missing, it doesn't hit as hard.
This was 69 or 70, live from the Johnny Cash Show
I think I’m in love with you.❤️🤘🏻
This song was played on the Last of Us TV series. It was well received once again.
You did a reaction video of Linda a year ago.
Down So Low live from Germany about 1976
She was like 16 or 17..truly amazing!
I and all the other boys had a huge crush on her.
Linda, is a true American treasure of Mexican and German ancestry, born and raised in Arizona, Southwest USA. There is no Genre of music she cannot do. She is considered to this day the Queen of American Country Rock Music as well as tops on so many others,
If every man had a Linda Ronstadt there would be no more war........
1970
