The Reason You Should Train the Volleyball Arm Swing In-Season

    Most volleyball athletes who play club volleyball will take between 3000-5000 swings this club season. These swings, especially bad swings, will be firmly cemented into muscle memory if you let another club season go by and don't change and improve them now.
    What's worse, add in the jumps they will take that will easily add another 3000-5000 jumping movements to the hitting shoulder muscle memory that makes it really tough to change arm swing mechanics after a season.
    Start when the athlete is young, ideally it's best to teach and train the improved arm swing mechanics when they are 13 or 14 because it's really tough to change after the athlete has taken the tens of thousands or even hundreds of thousands of bad swings, after they have played club volleyball for many seasons.
