- On a cold but beautiful January morning fishing was the only thing to do so I headed to the south coast of Kent for a shore Fishing session at Hythe. After the 15 minute walk along the beach to my fishing venue, I set my fishing rods up, baited up my sea fishing rigs and cast out. I started getting bites from the off! the whiting were about and onto the bait very quickly. It was a low tide fishing session and a good 4 hour trip with a surprise bass catch thrown in which left me very happy indeed. This video is full of helpful tips and techniques, how to bait up, rigs for sea fishing and is a great blog for anyone new to fishing around the beaches and shorelines of the UK. Fished hythe for over 50 years , in the 70s local residents were able to get a permit to fish the ranges and were issued a key to the gates at various points and there was one close to my nans at princess terrace , never see them days again when a hundred weight of cod werent uncommon and whiting were all 2/3lb nothing like the pin whiting you get now but times change cos we never got the amount of rays and smoothhounds then ,my dad and grandad fished it all there lives as have i and hopefully my boys will
Yeah the seas have totally changed. Different species everywhere and kent just isn't what it was🤦
I fished Hythe a couple of weeks ago, no whiting, just a lonely dab.

Yes nice mark. If anyone is thinking of giving it a go for the first time just go for it. It's my alternative if the prospect of Dungeness is a bit
too daunting. A great one if your on holiday or with the family and they want to wander off to the town. The Lazy Shack by the boats does a
deelish range of snacks , bacon and scallop baguette my # 1 choice.
Yeah that is really good info too Lee. It is a great place if your away for the weekend or in the area. I did see the que for that place on the way back, maybe next time I'll give it a go.

@@gsp . Early morning session last july 2 hours up and 2 down from princess parade (100 yards from the cousins house). An aquarium job , school bass,big doggies and whiting , pouting and eel. Even had a flying visit from mr porpoise heading for Dungeness at about 40 mph. The firing range area has a bit of rep for rays .
Yeah I've had good sessions on rays there but I do like the selection you can get at prince's parade

Well done on the bass mate. January is the only month that I am yet to catch one in, I tried this year on numerous occasions and failed! Guess I will have to wait another 12 months to try again lol

Those worms were from bills bait and tackle in Dover, always great bait! There and Ron Edwards in herne bay have never let me down

Where did you get that tripod and rig wallet
The tripod is just a Shakespeare salt tripod, available online and the wallet was a second had any fish anywhere wallet. Really big and really useful👍

Well that was a nice wee session nice fish think you need to sharpen your hooks no lose to many fish that way 😂😂 till the next one tight lines
They were brand new mustard hooks on brand new rigs🤦♂️😂 should have stayed with my rusty blunt ones! 😂😂😂
