  • so i tried guava for the first time... let's just say i'd be lying if i said i enjoyed it. at least i got the malaysian supermarket experience and met really cute kids!

    Fyi the banana (pisang) you’re having is the same you had in States, Cavendish strain, as it’s considered a more “commercial” variety and sold in mall. There’s more banana varieties sold at street stalls, some can be consumed raw (e.g. pisang emas, pisang montel) and some eaten cooked (e.g. pisang abu, pisang tanduk), banana fritters & pengat pisang for example. Those banana will taste different than what you’re used to.

      Thanks so much for sharing! I didn't realize there were so many varieties, haha. I think I actually tried the fried banana fritters or goreng in Indonesia!

    Usually malaysian eat guava with assam 😂 its like a sour powder sooo good

      @@hannah_gracekim yup, maybe can try mangosteen or durian if you are up for the challenge 🤣 I would just recommend duku langsat or mata kucing, coz I like them haha.. You kinda miss out on Harum Manis mango season last month. Its local mango from Perlis that are super sweet!
