I think this is a big part on why video games are addictive. Like when you upgrade characters and weapons you see their level go up, you see damage go up and like it makes you want to grind more
You're a life saver, I had been sad/depressed for the past 3 weeks about how much I studied my ass off for last block's exam & in the end when my results came I got a measly 49%😭. I felt like shit, and felt like giving up cuz of that one single point. And everyone around me, my parents & mentor was like "your results are so low yada yada blah blah blah." But after hearing what you said I realised- My results are not low, they have risen by a whole 23% from the previous exam..! who said I lost anything? I won that 23% increase and in the next increase I'll definitely win more! I appreciate your work man, if I hadn't come across this video today I may have still dragged my depression, eventually giving up and quitting med school. But now I know what to look forward to despite what the others(parents, mentors) have said. Thank you soo much! 😭❤️
In conclusion, he is just explaining on how Psychology, Building consistent mindset and habits may improve your studies. Which is actually one of the true ways.
This is my favourite Ruff video so far, I find it so similar to the 'how I study 2 hours a day', which has become my 2nd favourite now. Thank you so much, Wuff
Andrew huberman said its best to find hard work rewarding on its own without external reward based on studies. I get reward as a feeling of pride when i finish studying for a day so i dont need external rewards i think
i was reflecting on how i was going to implement this method and had some further thoughts, it's more of a pep talk for myself to be honest. If you get a bad grade, especially at first, that's okay, that's the point, you can't improve without starting from the bottom. And also, If you improve, improve, improve, then one day or for one week you start getting lower grades on your practice papers, that's okay. Start slow and build back to to solve that, and also remembering that progress is not linear, it's not a straight slope, its ups and downs, and downs and ups.
I've been doing this since I was a freshman, and now that I'm in my third year in college, I consistently get good grades by making a quiz (google forms) for myself whenever there's a quiz, exam, recitation, etc. then try to answer it until I get a perfect score. I never knew that there would be an the explanation to why review quizzes works so well.
This makes so much sense. Last year, I would study and my teacher would never give me positive reinforcement. He would just tell me "Okay you studied but..still not good enough, you need to study everyday". And so I completely quit, because I never got rewarded for my work. Now I will try and impliment this info in my daily routine, thanks!
Passion being the continous action reward cycle makes so much sense.now,I understand why I have been consistent on learning guitar for 1 week without much effort but quit 3 times earlier before. Thanks ruff, will try to implement this method in my studies.Gonna start slow then build to big
I have an app that tracks my study time and my distracted time , everytime I see my study time has less than my distracted time I tell myself that I'll do better the next day. The next day when I see my study time go up, it feels like a little win!
omg you have no idea how much i appreciate your videos... I spend a lot of time asking my successful friends about how they carry on, even after burn out, when they're sick, when everything loses its fun, and I just cant accept the word 'discipline', I cant stand living colorless, being disciplined sometimes is like a punishment. especially after the burn out phase, I am too tired of repeating things I dont give a f day after day. This is just the answer I have been looking for...
The institution where I study takes daily 10 marks exams. At first my grades were very very low but now I can see some improvements there is more improvements that needs to be done, but it is also pretty simple just revise the daily lessons and practice from the practice book, but I struggle with maintaining regularity and then get upset when my marks are lower than usual pretty ironic, I know what to do but still hold myself back from doing what needs to be done.😿
idk man, for me it’s usually like being delusional (in a sense) - for example i finally did my homework, my reward is something like “woo hoo i did my homework”
one example for the treat after studying can be looking at the win rate% of games if haven't study in a lot of times it's like ur wr% is 4% . getting to 5% from 4% don't seem much but getting from 89% to 90% is cool but % u gotta surpass that 4%
Hey Ruff! Been watching your videos for a while now because I really need to improve myself. Are there any books you would recommend? Or maybe can you do a book review? That would be amazing! Thank you very much I have already seen the progress of improving myself to become a better person. Keep up the good work man!!!
Summary(in my own words and opinions) Most people do not reward themselves when they finish a task, which is why some of us(not me) cannot develop habits permanently. E.g. If I were to complete my chemistry syllabus within my deadline, I would reward myself with one day full of my attractive habits, you can do the same or something different that is all up to you! A reward is like a finisher for a habit to be formed. James Clear states in his book "Atomic Habits" that reward is something that bribes us to do an action, but if we don't reward ourselves then our brain will not do the task again. English or Spanish if you don't pin me then you are Gay.
Hey man can u talk about how to get the mindset to crack very competitive exams. I'm studying for jee and idk any difficult exam than that.. with his vast the syllabus is and how critical and advanced the questions are. I really love the subjects and studying.. but my result graph shows otherwise... It's not bad.. but it's not good either.. what i aim is almost impossible and that's what demotivates me and keep me away from studying.. I STUDY 15 HRS A DAY SOMETIMES and sometimes not even an hour
@@anonymous_cybernova because the exams are not the same, we have to write a LOT of pages. We have to develop every answer and have orals as one of our finals

I have an uncontrollable amount of jelousy, i dont really know how to fix this, becouse i feel like im the only one who hasnt accomplished anything inside my freind group or even in my family, and instead of feeling proud for them, im just underwhlemed with a huge amount of jelousy and i think this is the one that keeps me from winning, what do you think is a good solution to this?
Bro I think it is not easy to do different practice parer just to get more marks than before ,as you said that there should be equality between the reward and the work which is done but the increment in marks is not enough for reward .So my question is what should be a equal reward.

In discipline you can do regardless of reward or only end reward, but positive reinforcement can also work
