- Testing a Hampton Bay branded, Fedders manufactured, 12,000 BTU window air conditioner model HBT120A-J. The unit is extremely dusty and moldy, yet continues to operate with no trouble.
Started up all of my air conditioners except one and ofc, the 1970's Whirlpool lives another season. Love that unit.
Thanks for letting me know.
Really enjoyed the testing video of this moldy Hampton Bay air conditioner I love that classic start-up sound hopefully you'll do a cleaning video of this air conditioner due to mold soon bro
Glad you enjoyed it.
Good Video Bro good spin down time on the fan also I enjoyed the air conditioner video
Glad you enjoyed it bro.
When in the winter coldness with window air conditioner I recommend if is a heat pump with built in Heater coils that burn the dust when I start the heating mode just like the PTAC Amana this is one of my favorites in a Hotel
I don't understand.
Ok! I think is not a heat pump since I was guessing hm?
Hope you could make the fan bearings quiet, that's a challenge to clean too. hopefully it will be in a window this year.
I can replace the bearings.
@@JordanU Who was that other guy with you?
What happened to putting the camera by the compressor on startup? This will make for a fantastic coil cleaning video..
I wasn't aware anything happened to it. The machine will be cleaned on video.
Yummy i love the more mold that makes me cold
It will give you a cold.
Sanyo rotary compressors also have the blue label. The sanyo compressors are probably just as good as the legendary Matsushita rotary compressors. I've never seen a Toshiba with a blue label, all the Toshiba rotary compressors I've seen are very loud. My Montgomery Ward has this same Sanyo compressor.
Eric, you're 100% right, that's indeed a Sanyo. I got my wires crossed, thank you for the correction!
@@Kevinsrack no problem.
I would put Sanyo right up there with Matsushita. Sanyo's fans are particularly notable.
My Goodness... the plug looks like it's ready to commit an arson. This unit makes me wonder how nasty HVAC units probably were when it was still legal to smoke inside restaurants & bowling alleys. In the 90s there was a bowling alley/arcade/b-day party venue I frequented that had about 2 feet of smoke lingering along the ceiling at all times.
* I appreciate the shirt your friend is wearing. Team 3 pedals until it's outlawed lol.
Thanks for the kudos about the shirt, that was quite a subtle and astute observation! One of many things Jordan and I have in common is our affinity for manual transmissions.
Theairconditionerguy channel on youtube showed the cleaning of a 1958 Hotpoint that had been in a bar in Pennsylvania for a number of years. It was NASTY!
@@Kevinsrack anything shift pattern related always leaps out at me; as far as I'm concerned, it's the only way to drive.
@@johncantwell8216 I'll definitely have to check that out!
This machine was removed from a hoarder location, so it was definitely a worse case scenario in terms of the dust. Commercial stuff is a hit or miss, all depends on the building maintenance team.
I love old air conditioners but I can’t ever find any around here except newer models. Stuff is built so cheap now.
They're getting harder to find around here too.
can't wait when its nice and clean
It should be quite the transformation.
0:01 Holy crap. That's alot of mold.
Indeed.
a lot of hours put on this unit!!
Yes, and it still works great.
How could somebody leave an air conditioner like that just unreal it'll just overheat with that amount of stuff in it
These older units were built to a good enough spec to be able to handle it, there will just be an extreme loss in efficiency.
I like it
OK
that looks like old hampton bay prior to home depot buying them
Hampton Bay was always the The Home Depot store brand.
it's moldylicious! i just got another vintage unit as bad as yours... and people breath this shitty air...
Not good.
