Van Gogh's painting is magnificent and impressive. It has a great and impressive history. A masterpiece like no other. A true artist, painter and philosopher.
I wish they would just give a little more images of the art. I know they do a lot of it in the previews but still a better view during the bidding wouldn't hurt.
@@lindamon5101 There was a rare in-person bidding war between two people. It seems like so many sales are phones and the in-person audience are just spectators these days. It was quite interesting to watch two people bid against each other in the room.
@@gazitore Thank you! I’ve now found him on Apple Music and am enjoying more of his works. I also bought the song Ballerina as a ringtone for my iPhone. It’s going to be a lovely sound when I get calls. Cheers!
@@ThinkerHaistTV thank you! That's interesting as I would think that advisors have a fixed maximum number in mind. People in the middle of the room are just attending or staff or lot owners?
@@xherreraoc They’re taking bids on the phones, another team of staff in other offices can take phone bids, the audience in the room can bid, and they have also have it live on their website where you can bid there as well.
This auctioneer is the least fun one I’ve seen at Christie’s or Sotheby’s in years. All business. No humour. Very dry. He made quite an exciting evening rather boring-which is such a shame.
it is the demand, not really the work or the value of the work. Remember, wealthy people make money out of the thin air. They can come out with anything: auctioning africans was one of that crazyness. U can make a silly painting, and prince Charles of England happens to like it, and hang in his castle, that piece might cost at least $100.000 now, and more decades later. Bitcoin crazyness is the same almost same concept. I work trade floor in NYC, and those people make money out of thin air
I was the handyman in her building for almost 5 years. Handled all the Monet's. Had to take my shoes off when entering her place.
The auctioneer was excellent. Had me on the edge of my seat throughout the auction. Well done sir.

I agree. The zoom ins are nice to see the textures but it would be nice to see the full pieces more.

The first red Rothko is breathtaking. The Blinky Palermo was stunning too. Wow.
Please give me the piece name and orchestra performing the opening theme of the program! So moody and dramatic! Fabulous! Thank you!
Only 10 million for full set of 115 million year old dinosaur bones.. what a deal🎉
What's the song (classical bond-like theme) in the very beginning of the stream?

The museums display about 5% of their museum collections. The other 95% is in storage vaults.
