I asked where to buy Baju Melayu on my Instagram and I was recommended several places including Jakel, Jalan TAR and so on. However, Jakel didn’t allow recording so I couldn’t buy there. Instead, I went to Jalan TAR! Oh~~ So many beautiful Baju Melayu!! It was quite impressive! Once again, thank you for all your recommendations! Only a week or so left! Kakak choose best color of "samping" to you. It is matching with your baju melayu color. If your baju melayu dark color, you need to choose light color for "samping". Kakak terbaik.

little tips for chosing baju raya:
- if you choose a darker color for the baju melayu, then the samping have to be a bright color
- if you choose a brighter color for the baju melayu, then samping have to be a darker color
it's called contrast between the two element, the baju melayu and the samping
example:
- white baju melayu - black/dark blue/grey samping
- dark purple baju melayu - white/light blue samping

Samping pun betul lah. Itu sebutan orang melayu tradisional.
Anyway, chu you don't need to have contrasting colors between the baju+seluar from the samping. It's best for you to wear green, light green, light soft green, plain without any pattern, this color really suits you, it highlights your skin (and magically makes you appear less chubby 🤣). So all 3 pieces (baju, seluar, and samping) to be this same color, plain soft light green.
Then when you go to a malay kampung for raya open house invitation, people see you coming from afar and they'd think you are a walking banana tree hahahaha 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

1) Baju Melayu Cekak Musang
2) Baju Melayu Teluk Belanga (Johor Style)
Baju Melayu akan nampak lengkap jika dipakai dengan Sampin.
Kalau ada Songkok, Tanjak lagi segak untuk dipakai di kepala.

Hi Chu. There are two type of baju melayu. One is Baju Melayu Cekak Musang ( high collar) another one is Baju Melayu Teluk Belanga ( without collar). The one that you bought is Teluk Belanga version, originally from State of Johor. Many men prefer this version because this version is more comfortable to wear in hot humid weather. The sampin that the salesgirl chose for you match your baju melayu color very well. However, if you do not like the d3sign, you can always change and choose another one.

Just a heads up, KL & Klang valley will be quite empty compared to usual since people will go back to their hometown to celebrate raya, starting next weekend. It's our first raya in 3 years with minimal COVID restrictions, so I believe this year it'll be merrier than usual!

Baju melayu and samping must be good in selecting colour matching chu..if you buy some dark colours for the clothes,then the samping must be the bright colours and if the clothes is bright,then the samping will be a dark colours..

Hi Chu! Good content as usual. What u have there kawan, is a baju Melayu teluk belanga.. it is from Johor. The way Johorian wears their sampin is underneath the shirt. The salesperson did a good job recommending this style for u.. it makes ur chest look big and manly. Suitable for chubby guys. She also recommended a good contrasting colors as baju Melayu can get monotone so easily.. u have to thank the kakak later.
Boleh berdagang luar sebenarnya samping dengan teluk belanga, cuma ikut adat, khas untuk bangsawan dan kerabat sahaja.
Saya perform zapin, masih boleh berdagang luar kerna karakter penari. Tidak ada masalah dari sudut adat.
Cuma perlu lepas lutut sahaja sbb ambil adat teruna. Dan jika samping berikat molek hanya dikiri atau tengah. Kanan untuk kerabat.
Demikian juga lambaian/solek tanjak dan destar. Ikut adat, ke kiri untuk orang kebanyakkan. Simpul di atas telinga kanan.

a baju melayu with samping and songkok is a full complete formal set.. you can also wear the top of baju melayu with jeans for more santai looks.. you will see some espcially younger one wear it like that... usually after the makan2 in raya morning the samping will all be gone.. 😅😅

Dont worry Chu, that samping is suit with your baju melayu teluk belanga color. Basically when we choose samping, not necessary for samping to be same color as baju melayu. Better to choose contra color but flower/samping design must have certain color with your baju melayu that you currently wear.

Chu for baju melayu, just go for standard/regular cutting..they are much more comfortable to wear. Slim fit usually for teenagers or those with model type body😂 I wish u tried "baju melayu cekak musang" as well.. So you can feel the difference of cekak musang and teluk belanga (purple). Chu, baju Melayu have two types - baju Melayu cekak musang and baju Melayu teluk belanga (or known as baju Melayu Johor).
Personally, for me, those chubby person, baju teluk belanga more suitable for them because it didn't seems 'choked' your neck. So, the one that kakak choose for you, already match well for you.

I think the reason why she said the samping is matching with your purple baju melayu is because the dark colour samping would not stand out much if paired with it. So her choice is to make the samping stand out because ur baju melayu is darker and has no patterns on it..
