@@TheSeadna Yeah small countries and round town is the only use for EVs in a place like Australia frankly. An Aussie road trip is big. Our trip to see our grandparents is a 700 km trip out to the outback - there's no EV chargers so buying an EV would be so pointless. I love the idea of having a little EV for a runaround but they're just not viable for our use. And even if there's a decent infrastructure you're stuck at chargers for an hour - not a quick 1 min diesel top up or something and back on the road. It sucks that 'going green' has so many disadvantages for a family like mine. Price also sucks, and suddenly used cars will stop being a thing as EVs are batteries, and just like phones buying a used phone older than a year is pointless as batteries age and lose capacity so quick.
Nobody ever pays for fast charging as an EV owner unless you plan to drive over 300 miles. I charge at home every night and my electricity costs are around 1/3 of our ICE cars fuel costs pr year as both me and my wife drive the same during a year (25000 km on each car). The services are around 50% cheaper on top of that. Our long trips are maybe twice a year but usually we can slow charge at the holiday destinations we go to and if we drive longer 1 fast charge each way during the trips.
Test drove one in London, it's quite well built and the GT edition looks mean, but at basic offerings it's quite expensive and if you go up the spec it gets really expensive...
I don't know man, my 5 minutes filling up with diesel was more expensive but I'm not sure I can sit and wait so much each few days. Great review though.
Great looking car. Never driven or really cared much for electric cars, but I've always thought the huge benefit was free or almost free charging, so I was really surprised when I saw it cost 20-30 pounds, and when you also have to hang around those charging stations for over an hour everytime you charge, or even longer if you have to wait in line, it just feels so pointless rather than a convenient and free/cheap option to the already convenient but expensive standards we have had for decades.
You don't get it. Charge_at_home! I always wake up to a full "tank" of electrons. Spot rate prices keep the cost down to almost nothing when charging at night,
I love to giggle as I watch these sorts of vids. Having been electric for 5 years, I don't understand people sitting in the car watching it fill to 100%. Sometimes I'm plugged in for 5 to 10 mins. It's how it is .... Know your journey, know your car.
Those touch screen buttons look far to small and fiddly...one advantage of actual buttons is you don't have to look down to see what your pressing....Nice looking car though
Nice review, nice KIA, but still seeing you at the chargers...to much hassle, i'll be here using expensive gasoline until the battery capacity and practical drawbacks are in reasonable 'range' (max pun)
Yes it's additional. It's to dissuade people from charging for too long in order to reduce queuing. Not sure how long you have to be plugged in for before it kicks in though. I think it's ridiculous to incur such a fee if no one is waiting for a space.
Am I understanding this correctly. It takes 23.5kwh to travel 100km and he paid 70 cents per Kwh at the Ionity charger at a total cost of €16.45. My diesel car could do that even at current high prices for about €10 at much higher speeds. Coupled with the high buy in cost the payback doesn't appear to exist
He doesn't underline that Ionity are fast but horribly expensive - double or triple the price of most chargers. Plus the EV6 is really not very efficient. In a Kia Niro EV you would be using about 15 KwH per 100 km, and I would pay about 30 cents, making a much more reasonable € 4.50 (or maybe a bit more on the motorway). Plus there is always the ultimate possibility of using solar energy, if you can install it, where your fuel costs nothing at all... Basically, using Ionity in a motorway scenario is about the most expensive option you can imagine...
A great and honest review there fella. I was hoping the ev6 would be available for me to lease but sadly it wasn't to be so have ordered a Kona electric instead.
ID4 and EV6 were on my list of choices but chose the ID4. EV6 had worse seats, less room for tall people like me and a suspension that was much too hard and was much too crowded at the rear. Faster charging, which practically never works in practice, had no added value for me.
i also bought the id4 and to be honest I'm regretting it I'm sick of the slow response from the infotainment and if you want to change heat setting while driving its a dangerous operation. I'm thinking about changing it but i wont be buying another VW
Charging EVs out in the rain using electric cables. Absolutely Ridiculous. All these charging stations should be protected from the rain ..Good video Stravos.
U R Right at the end what U say. IF this vid was 8 min it would be way more appreciative. This is 300 X more better functionally looking then the Tesla you showed in the previous vids.
Nice evaluation. Guys who wants to have a car that doesn't need refuelling and no recharging needed? It uses unlimited super fuel the future fuel as I calls it. That's my car and I want to sell my invention and share it to everyone.
Seems like the climate controls are too complicated to use while driving; you have to really take your eyes off the road and study it for too long to get your desired settings. My opinion base solely on watching you make adjustments.
All rechargeable batteries last longer when not allowed to go below 20% and not charged over 80%. And not allowed to sit in hot sun or get really cold. In Canada probably should be kept in heated garage most of the winter😁
@Stavros969 I am in Montreal, Quebec and we have a lot of Tesla chargers, if there is a problem I have no clue. My lease is coming due next summer 2024 and I have not decided whether go full electric or hybrid 2024 Lexus RX350. Still undecided since I have seen so many teslas on the side of the highway in the winter. This is what scares the daylights out of me...
i’ve owned a Kia Nero for a year now, prior to that I had a Kona electric for two years. In that space of time I’ve charged at a commercial ChargePoint just half a dozen times because mainly I charge at home. Both cars easily did 250 miles on a charge and for me at least that’s more than enough. Charging at Ionity is a rip off both here in the U.K. and Ireland, but frankly a wait with a cup of coffee on the rare occasion is fine as my bum is sore after a couple of hour in the drivers seat.
So it's not just costing you for the electricity to charge your car up it's also costing you at least one hour , charging time and also the price of a cup of coffee It all adds up !!! Where has a petrol car you are filled up " gone , without a cup of coffee ☕ Within say ,10 minutes But the UK government reckon by 20:35 That everybody should have electric cars And it will be illegal to then have petrol driven cars This shows you how Out of touch with reality they really are ?
@@jackwatsonepic626 So...after driving a couple of hours in your ICE car you are never tired and feel like you know..streching your legs and grabbin a coffee? Most normal people especially on long trips take a break after 2-3 hours and get a bite to eat and some coffee wich makes your point kinda moot? And whoever charges for a full hour? When i absolutely have to i charge for 30 minutes and do another stop later when i again need to stretch my legs. For some odd reason in my country Norway 87% of ALL cars sold here are EV's so it cannot really be a hassle to own an EV eh :D
I don’t have an electric car. But I do thinking about my next car will be EV. What I like about it has no oil change, no regular fluids change. As battery technology getting better and more advanced batteries have come out recently. They are most likely replacing most gasoline powered cars on the roads. EV might not be the absolute answer for our energy crises. But it certainly will reducing the dependence on petrols. When 50% of sedan cars are EV it will free up petrols for others such as industrial transportation. Met a guy in a charging station he drove 2000 km one way on his Hyundai EV and found it ok. Most of us take such long trips once or twice a year.
So many overengineered electric touch stuff. This car will keep a dealership technician very very busy. My own 20 year old car is still going. I doubt an ev would last 20 years
We in The Netherlands are lucky that the charging infrastructure is already much more developed. If I plug in the FastNed CCS cable in our car, the charging starts without any swiping of a card or pushing a button. The car (Tesla m3) is recognised automatically. Also at a non Tesla charger. Europe wants ICE cars of the market in a few years from now. Let them first support an European charge network.
Quite a good looking car. It reminds of those 'future' cars you used to see in sci-fi films of the past. They're still not for me though. When you look at how long ICE has been around and maturing, EV's are still in their infancy. A long way to go with the manufacture of them.
But if everyone says that, they'll never develop. It's like waiting for the next phone upgrade only to find out the next version is going to have new technology. I know what you mean but have to stump up some time. Picking up a ioniq 5 later this year. Bad@ss car. But accept, manufacturers need to keep on at it to get more people on board.
@@hieroglyph321 They will develop - loads of people will buy them anyway (some people are suckers for the latest 'thing' and will get one). I think there is a long way to go before they become viable for me. They're really dirty (and sometimes unethical) to manufacture. The infastructure here for charging is poor. The battery life and range is still poor. Winter performance is way below an ICE car. Roughly two-thirds of our electricity still comes from fossil fuel/coal/non-renewable sources too, so when you plug one in, chances are you are still causing pollution. I'll get one when it's right for me.
@@DingKong Tbh the EV pollution argument never made sense to me because harvesting and shipping petrol causes pollution too. It’s funny because transporting petrol itself uses even more petrol. Compared to electricity, where once it’s generated it doesn’t need a truck or a ship to transport it, It just goes to your house instantly when you charge you EV. So I’m pretty sure electricity still wouldn’t cause as much pollution to the environment as petrol.
@@nattokami9598 You are correct, EVs cause less pollution than an ICE car, but they do still burn fossil fuels. I think it takes between 2-3 years (of a new EV) to become cleaner than ICE because the mining and manufacture of EVs is much worse than ICE. Once that time has passed the ICE is then cleaner overall. They are still new technology really and have a long way to go, as does the support and infastructure for charging.
Is 2.6 mi per kWh typical? With the current Northern California home rate energy cost rate of $0.36 per kWh (up to 400% of baseline,) the energy cost rate to drive around would be around 13¢ per mile. A ordinary 32 mpg ICE RAV4 will get about 16¢ per mi.
Hang on 17.15 Euro to do 62 miles, and at 1.40 Euro a litre may 2023 for my diesel 2.0 skoda i can do that for 6.00 Euro and not sit in the car for an hour waiting to charge up. Nice car, good video, and i wouldn't mind one, but i will see first if i can get local council approval to install my own 180 metre tall wind turbine in my back garden first to charge it
These things aren't ready for prime time yet. How many times have you ever pulled up a petrol/diesel pump and thought, "Please work! Please please please work - I don't need problems today"?
I don't like it that if need xxx amount of charging u can get an overstay penalty.i don't like manufacturers are not putting physical buttons,if u touch one how easy would it be accidently hit another ?
Great Looking Car the EV-6, that little cover over the CCS lower part is a total pain in the ...... ive seen some makers have better designed version of a flap, and tesla doesnt have it at all. all very strange. ionity is too expensive
Agree... but how this should have been designed is AC male connectors should have a flexible rubber pad down bottom to cover the DC port while charging, so the DC port wouldn't need a rubber cap or any flap. And when charging on cars with no DC connector, like Zoe, the rubber pad would simply bend back.
@@savedfaves i think the reason the DC flap/cap is there on some cars is to stop dirt etc getting in. but there is the main flap/cover over the complete charge port. But when im charging my model 3 on AC the DC port is open to the elements, im not sure why one manufacturer is ok with this and others are not
they are going to get these charging isues fixed ..with longer range batteries X3 of current batteries (lithium sulfate). and faster charges .. hopefully soon . .looks like a headache now .. oh wow

Place I’m subbed into valeting has sold I’d say at 10 since January nice motor 👌🏾
Last time i saw Stavros, he had a black FN2. Dude's still going strong.
All that and nice style too. The back where the rear brake lights looks weird but overall pretty good.
An extremely happy and sound advise on this EV 6 thank you so much Stavros, cheers.
Spot rate prices keep the cost down to almost nothing when charging at night,
@@matsandersson3176 what if you live in an apt?
@@matsandersson3176wait until the grid gets used more from EV's, have fun paying more for your charge..
@@hobo1704 Sure thing. ‘Cause gas will get cheaper and cheaper. Right? 😂
I love to giggle as I watch these sorts of vids. Having been electric for 5 years, I don't understand people sitting in the car watching it fill to 100%. Sometimes I'm plugged in for 5 to 10 mins. It's how it is ....
Know your journey, know your car.
3 years here; totally agree
Those touch screen buttons look far to small and fiddly...one advantage of actual buttons is you don't have to look down to see what your pressing....Nice looking car though
You sir, will have millions of subscribers; you've got "it". Great stuff here :)
I lived in Ireland for 3 years, and it is people like you that made my time there a great time.
I love your reviews.honest, informative, and cheerfully, you remind me of my uncle pat,on my mums side, keep up the good work,
Have you done a video on the Rad 4 Prime? Yes, I know it's a plug in Hybrid
wait for a nordic winter when range drops 50% and the battery coldgate....
My brother had a Kia Rondo and the suspension and comfort was not there... does the EV6 is the same ? Does a model 3 is more comfortable than this ?
Was there no cover In the charging bays?
Very good detailed review. HAve you tried the BRZ or Toyota GR86? I'd like your take on those.
No rear window viper must be a tragedy in Irland. I miss it on my Ioniq 5 in Oslo.
How much would the equivalent amount of petrol cost, and the same service station ?
Nice review, nice KIA, but still seeing you at the chargers...to much hassle, i'll be here using expensive gasoline until the battery capacity and practical drawbacks are in reasonable 'range' (max pun)
How many days a year do you travel over 300 miles ?
wow such hardships
What is ca overtime penalty.
What was the overtime €4.60 penalty for and was it on top of the €22.11 cost?
Yes it's additional. It's to dissuade people from charging for too long in order to reduce queuing. Not sure how long you have to be plugged in for before it kicks in though. I think it's ridiculous to incur such a fee if no one is waiting for a space.
Love your video’s!
You shouldn't be disappointed with the Kona you've ordered. We've had ours 3 months now.
@@zilspeed cheers John, looking forward to getting behind the wheel.
A fantastic looking car...and seems to be useful
Decent whip too, to be fair ... enjoy
With all those buttons & fandangos to operate when driving could this be worse offence than using mobile 📲 talky-talky or worse texting?
What you said at the very end is one of the reasons why I got my eyes on the EV6. 👍
my favourite EV has changed a few times but the more i research I'm leaning towards a Korean car for my switch to Electric.
I can't imagine the stress of not knowing if the damn charger will work and then having to wait long enough for charge to commence your trip. smh
I like it, thanks for the review
You get charged for staying too long. PMSL what are EV's like ....?
ID4 and EV6 were on my list of choices but chose the ID4. EV6 had worse seats, less room for tall people like me and a suspension that was much too hard and was much too crowded at the rear. Faster charging, which practically never works in practice, had no added value for me.
great advises regarding comfort, but what about reliability?
i also bought the id4 and to be honest I'm regretting it I'm sick of the slow response from the infotainment and if you want to change heat setting while driving its a dangerous operation. I'm thinking about changing it but i wont be buying another VW
After watching this it reaffirms my decision to buy a 2023 Toyota Corolla hybrid LE AWD.....Supposed to be in around late February.
Do all these cars come with lumbar support in the seats ?
Charging EVs out in the rain using electric cables. Absolutely Ridiculous. All these charging stations should be protected from the rain ..Good video Stravos.
I own one of these. Brilliant car.
I am waiting for the next vlog hopefully you do skoda enyaq next. Thanks
I am more worried about the range where
I live in Canada as it's 48% less when it's-20 out.
As everyone has asked the same question would you go back to electric as you never answered the question thanks Ian.
So it's not just costing you for the electricity to charge your car up
it's also costing you at least one hour , charging time
and also the price of a cup of coffee
It all adds up !!!
Where has a petrol car you are filled up " gone , without a cup of coffee ☕
Within say ,10 minutes
But the UK government reckon by 20:35
That everybody should have electric cars
And it will be illegal to then have petrol driven cars
This shows you how
Out of touch with reality they really are ?
@@jackwatsonepic626 So...after driving a couple of hours in your ICE car you are never tired and feel like you know..streching your legs and grabbin a coffee? Most normal people especially on long trips take a break after 2-3 hours and get a bite to eat and some coffee wich makes your point kinda moot? And whoever charges for a full hour? When i absolutely have to i charge for 30 minutes and do another stop later when i again need to stretch my legs. For some odd reason in my country Norway 87% of ALL cars sold here are EV's so it cannot really be a hassle to own an EV eh :D
@@Tsenngu I understand where you are coming from and when you put it like that about the stops for a cup of coffee I can understand that aswell
Please correct if am wrong, maybe i missed something. You go for 142 km trip with 419 km range , arrive at the destination with 1km range left ?
Think that was the night before, or something.
Looks like he’s back in time
So many overengineered electric touch stuff. This car will keep a dealership technician very very busy. My own 20 year old car is still going. I doubt an ev would last 20 years
Why might you doubt that? There are already EV's which have passed the 10 years old....
What model Kia EV6 is this? Is it the Wind rwd or awd model with the electric option package? 🤔
Nice car stavros 👍🏼
Where's the spare tire?
Don't like the rear end but overall looks pretty decent.
I just got the EV6 GT AWD... In sport mode this car goes 0-60mph in under 3 seconds. This car THROWS you into your seat in sport mode!
wait until youfind out what a new batt cost
Is 2.6 mi per kWh typical?
With the current Northern California home rate energy cost rate of $0.36 per kWh (up to 400% of baseline,) the energy cost rate to drive around would be around 13¢ per mile. A ordinary 32 mpg ICE RAV4 will get about 16¢ per mi.
Here where I am in South Carolina, electric rate is 11.9c/kWh. I get about 3.8-4.0 or so mi per kWh so it's super economical for me.

KIA is kicking butt!! So far they have my vote
But when im charging my model 3 on AC the DC port is open to the elements, im not sure why one manufacturer is ok with this and others are not
good one Mate
In the I drive/single pedal driving does it put the brake lights on when you leave go of the pedal ? Hope so
EVOdessey did a UA-cam video showing that when the regen is active in either ipedal, level 4 or level 3 that the brake lights do come on.

they are going to get these charging isues fixed ..with longer range batteries X3 of current batteries (lithium sulfate). and faster charges .. hopefully soon . .looks like a headache now .. oh wow
So...27 Euros for 280 km.. hm...this is actual the same price for a average middle car gas consumption. (around 6-7l/100km)
This looks like the best EV for rideshare.
Concept wise, I cannot figure out if this car wants to be sporty or utility. My mother who is shorter than 160 cm did not feel comfortable in this car.
