We need to find out where CNN does their shopping. They said a grocery cart went from $100 to $120 since current pres took office.
I thought the same thing. That $100 is at least $150 at minimum

Grocery prices are high yes but if you plan and prepare in a certain way you can still eat nutrient dense foods and cut your food budget some and stop wasting food. There is a system to it that has helped me immensely.

@@hiddenhand6973 use a price book for the foods you buy so you will know when it's on a good sale and that's when you buy it and you have to buy as many as you can so you don't have to buy that item until it goes back on a good sale. Not only sale items but always check the clearance isles too❤. A price book helps you know weather it's a real sale or not. My example is chicken. My lowest price for chicken thighs and drum sticks are. 99 cents a lb and that's when I buy at least 10 packages to last until the next time it goes on sale. It's a little hard to get started but after a few sales you get use to doing it and it just becomes the way you shop. There are so many different ways to save on shopping but this is a start. I bought a manual coffee grinder. I have been storing it in mason jars with oxygen absorbers. It will stay fresh longer than leaving in the original bag. Just make sure to keep it in a dark, cool, and dry place. I hate to think of not having coffee. I also bought a coffee pot for brewing over an open fire.

Ann, I thought of buying a coffee brewing over an open fire. In fact when I go thrifting and have found 2 coffee pots. You may too young to remember the perculator coffee pot on a stove but like you I have stocked up. In desperation I will use instant coffee😊☕

If you use a pill splitter to cut up regular aspirin into quarters, you have 4 low dose ones. Sure they aren't chewable cherry or orange flavored, but a Dollar store bottle of 100 will turn into 400 low dose. Pretty good trade off. I took care of my elderly mother for over 10 years and this was one of the ways to save.
I always wait for Kroger butter to go on sale for 2.99lb, then I buy 5 at a time I never seem to run out of butter that way. My heart goes out to all the people loosing their jobs.

I'm on disability and have a large family at home....you need to shop smart ... You like coffee get the store brand... Not the name brand...same thing with just about all products...we do great ...there are plenty of options out there..just as a example...it's not smart shopping to go and get named brand 24 count for 14.98...when you can get store brand 100 count for 27 bucks...people csnt cry about prices when there are alot of ways to save money

Domino Sugar is now down to 3 1/2 lbs, but they put it in a plastic container as apposed to paper.

Gordon food service ( gfs ) has great food for bulk shopping ❤ . Kroger has a bunch a bio engineered food deals but really not worth buying .

when the plan going in is to make something look a certain way just change the definition... or whats counted. its like how a recession definition was changed from 2 quarters to.. " a period of time " 🕰?

I live 3 hours from Sam’s club and Costco, I got a Sam’s club plus membership it was on sale for $70. I cans get many items free shipping grocery items not the fresh or frozen ones but shelf stable foods. I am stocking as finances allow several times a month.
That ends in August. At that time, your minimum purchase must be $50 for free Plus shipping.
True about the shipping changes in August. But the membership price has gone down to $60, $20 for the basic. I'm thinking of getting the $20 instead of the higher one, since in August you'll be able to get free curbside with $50 purchase. I have limited mobility and that would help me a lot. A lot of good deals and options out there for many things, you just have to take time to look for it. Hip2Save page is where I found the info about the Sam's deal, but they have deals on everything. I also receive their emails if not on FB.

Union Camp sold the company out to International Paper years ago. My husband who worked there found out from the news on t.v.. Some people lost their jobs. Why couldn’t they tell the employees?

The collapse of the dollar is in progress. It's been in progress since we were taken off the gold standard. When is it going to happen? Who knows, but it will happen.

This was a shock to me. Each and every month I order approximately $200.00 worth of groceries and things like pj's etc. Been doing this for years.
The other day I went to send my order in and what do I see....the computer has upped quantity on several items I'm about to order.
1 has now become 4. I was shocked and cancelled some items and re-adjusted on others. Min. Of #1 has now become four. What?
So I sent my order in and usually it comes in 2 days. Not any more.
Six days for delivery and I am paying Prime membership for years.
You need to police Everything.
It's taking longer and longer to get my Prime orders too. They say it will arrive on a certain day when I order. When that day rolls around, I get an email saying it's on its way but is being delayed. Normally not earth shattering but I often plan trips out of town around those orders.

When i started buying chuck roast at Sam's it was $3.99 per pound and in the last three years its jumped so much to now its $6.24 per pound that is an increase of 56 and 1/2 percent per pound and there plus membership went from $70 to $110
I'm in Oregon. The regular price on chuck roast is now 8.49lb.

Here at Fry's Foods (Kroger) in Phoenix, you used to be able to get 10 80/20 ground beef hamburger patties for $10. Today the package changed to 8 patties, still $10.
My Meijer has 5lb bags of whole wheat flour for $2.29 the shelf peice. I was shocked so I stocked up. They rang up at $3.99, but they price corrected it for me. I was ecstatic!

I watched a video recently about Sams and Costco. It said Costco has about double the members as Sams! That surprised me. I don't belong to either because I live alone so it's not worth it.
Housing prices vary greatly with location. They are starting to come down in several states and metropolitan areas. Cincinnati isn’t there yet.

Home prices are beyond ridiculous. We had out of state people come here and jack the prices up to obscene levels. They wanted $1.1 mil for a .63 acre parcel. Something that normally would be around $35k-$70k. Most homes around me are about $1.5 mil. People come here in the summer and have zero clue about winter which makes many people leave. If you are not used to very cold temps like -27°F%3D+-32.77778°C, you aren't going to like living here.

Sam's is not way cheaper for a lot.I am loaded up, but there are still things that Are cheaper for us, but so far, and so little, (Lettuce, Coffee Mate), but the rest is here and loaded up, (paper products, canned meats, personal items, many others.)
I actually missed your morning show for the first time.Too much family in and out and I had to see my brother in the nursing home in Louisville.
My son is back in the area for a new job and the cost of homes is INSANE, even here.

I go to Aldi every week, and some of the prices on specific items have gone up a couple weeks in a row. Salsa is one of those, cream cheese and sour cream. They went up, and then by the following week had gone up in price again!!

Did manage around $90-$100 this week. But that was catching sales at a dollar store and the local grocery. But there was like 4 to 6 bags. At least one bag had only one item in it. Then husband hit a farmers market and bought some vegetables.

I work at Dollar General we're having a sale on you're only getting a dollar off then you add the tax on You lose your sale at the checkout.
Taxes add up the more you buy. What a rip off false advertisement you're paying regular price after taxes at checkout.

There are great sales this week! Stock up! Fred meyer and safeway in NW WA have great deals this week.
Just got my car insure bill and home owners insurance they both went up 29% it says I have a good driving record and still went up! IIt sure is getting getting very hard for SS people to manager with bills right now anf food. I am a frugal shopper and never eat out I cook everything from scratch I thank my dear parents for teaching me how to cook I buy meat on sale and vacuum pack them it does help. I stopped shopping at Aldis the fruit only last a few days including lettuce tomatoes I will not shop there any more no bargain when you have to throw it out in a few days.. Sticker shock. Walmart eggs went from 1.54 for a dozen large to 2.78 in two weeks. I wish I could go to an Aldi but I'm stuck with Walmart home delivery since I don't drive and Aldi is 30 miles away.
