"Superstition is a name the ignorant give to their ignorance." Never really payed too much attention to this quote, but now, after some years of study and some personal experience, I can't help but wonder what Ip Man is trying to convey. Reality seems much deeper than we can imagine. There's a spiritual war going on.
This always intrigue me, when Ip Man said "You're special then, you're special now so the demon wants you." For me this is really the curse of fame or someone that is one of a kind. This scene is well acted. My most favorite scene in the movie.
he's talking about fear, Andrew. Nothing sinister just the complexities of our minds can cause fear, hesitation. There used to be a sign at my Martial arts place 'No hesitation. No doubt.' Hope that helps. PS This movie wasn't a 100% depiction of Bruces life. If you have time read Tao of Jeet Kune Do.
I love that little bit of choreography. The way Yip catches bruces arm is sort of a grabbing Tan Sau. Interesting way to use it. Ive studied wing chun myself.
Great scene of a great movie. The incomparable Ip Man, one of the great Grandmasters of Chinese martial arts that ever lived. He must have loved his student Siu Long (Bruce), the apple of his eye no doubt. Bruce is as close to the perfect physical specimen of any fighter in the history of mankind. Perhaps there are legends long forgotten of warriors as far back as Samson, but im glad that i have always looked up to both Bruce and Ip Man and the art of Wing Chun. My school’s Sigung is the late Chu Shong Tin, a closed door student of Ip Man as well. Bless all. 👍
This really makes you think about the purpose of martial arts & human nature. Does the practice of martial arts install discipline, humility, perception & inner strength to prepare us for these things? @0:24 - 0:30 really makes me think about dealing with success & if evil, demonic spirits heavily target/prey on the special ones at their absolute peak? Like how shady, slimy, business executives prey on athletes or musicians on the rise. They use their charm, intelligence & manipulate them with empty promises to get away they want. Really makes you wonder 🤔
@bobbycook9113 Not only that, it's also for Brandon Lee's unfair death too. The funny thing is that Brandon was also the first choice to portray Bruce Lee. He rejected it because he though he was "too white looking" to play his dad, though it would be a career destroyer, and felt awkward feelings about it such as having to re-enact steamy love-scenes with Lauren Holly portraying his own mom, which is too close of incest.
@@creaturecaldwell9858The legend goes that Ng Mui taught a young girl named Yim Wing-chun how to defend herself, and that is how the technique got its name.
Jason was such a legendary Bruce Lee in this...this is my favorite scene between him and ip man please tell me the theme to this scene..I even looked for it in the soundtrack
This Yip Man looks the most like the real life Yip Man. He looks the part more so than Donnie Yen(from the Ip Man series) & Tony Leung(from The Grandmaster).
Donnie Yen was playing the younger Ip Man, at least until Ip Man 2. I felt that one coukd watch the first two Ip Man movies, then watch Dragon. Ip Man 2 ended the same way Dragon began, with the child Bruce Lee meeting Ip Man.
"¿Y si no quiero luchar con él?" "No tienes elección...luchas por algo más que por tí mismo.." Incluso Bruce Lee temía enfrentarse a sus temores. Era tan humano como el que más.
This actor is Wang Luoyong. He is not too famous but he's a powerful actor in his own right. He started learning English in his 30's and managed to get a near native American accent, and got his start performing at Broadway.
I like his teacher's reaction to how strong Bruce had become
Me too❤
✊🏾🔥
Ip Man wanted to see how ready Bruce Lee was to face his demons. Physically spiritually and mentally
one of my favorite scenes… conquering inner demons is often our greatest challenge
Yip Man felt those legendary forearms that Bruce Lee was famous for and thought, "It felt like steel."
I heard lee's arms being described as like "warm marble" the man was solid
“When you are at your absolute peak, he will come for you. When the monsoon blow, be prepared.”
This scene is a masterpiece 💯
Love this
I love :27, as a father myself, seeing your son grow to be a strong and capable person is one of lifes most satisfying things.
This is where you conquer your fears and negativity.
One of the most inspirational movies of all time incredibly underrated
Teacher proud of his pupil, I've seen this video lots of times.
Thank you for uploading it!

What i like about this scene that ip man gave Bruce great advice an how to conquer his fears
I teach. And this makes me happy.
I love it when my pupils use what I've taught them on me.
I teach and coach. I understand what you mean. What's even better is when they surpasse you. Then you know that they have learned.
"When you're at your absolute peak, he will come to you. When the monsoon blow, be prepared."
When you are favored by God, you are also favored by the devil.
And that is why he died young …
Where does that quote come from? Can you please share?
Where does that quote come from? Can you please share?
@cesarcanete3402 That's the last thing he says to him before the end of the scene.
A teacher telling his student danger as Coming for you be ready for your batlle to save your future and your children loves you very much
This scene rattled me at 11 years old

Absolutely I understood the esoteric meaning of the spiritual battle he must overcome.

Interestingly he was born with one leg shorter than the other and not the best eyesight.
That's interesting, My Sigung is Kenneth Cheung and his Sifu was Leung Sheung. Cheers to you Sidai.
Wise words from the master.

If Bruce Lee were alive in the early-90s,
he probably would’ve been the one to portray Ip Man in this biopic.

For sure
Ip Man is one of China's fastest martial artist who learned Ng Mui's technique Wing Chun and past on to his disciple, the one and only Bruce Lee. 😁👏.
Isn't Wing Chun the name of a woman who developed Wing Chun ?

@Mr. WOON雲老师 it should of made it in
Thank you for uploading this. This was always one of my favorite scenes.
Powerful scene
Its ironic, this Yip man is very Donnie Yen looking.
I used to think that this scene is made believe until I had to fight death itself.
I wish Donnie Yen was in this movie as Ip Man
1:25 True 😔
Donnie Yen did auditioned for the role of Bruce Lee in this movie
You missed the bit “when you’re at your absolute peak he will come for you”
Power!!
That's the same actor who played James in the legend of Bruce lee series
This Yip Man looks the most like the real life Yip Man.

They are playing a young ip man lmfao, use your brain when you compare.

✌💛
the 🐉 lives forever.

ip man!
I remember this movie when it came out in 1993 ❤
"¿Y si no quiero luchar con él?"
"No tienes elección...luchas por algo más que por tí mismo.."
Incluso Bruce Lee temía enfrentarse a sus temores. Era tan humano como el que más.
Donnie yen look different 😶
Can anyone post the next 20 seconds pls ? , when he says …. When you are at your peak etx ….
His demons seem to be a metaphor for his drug addiction.
He never had a drug addiction. Maybe you're projecting?
im from india ,is there anyone who can send me the link of this movie
The bruce lee teacher looks like donnie yen
And funnily Yen ends up playing Ip Man.
This teacher is Xian from the Kickboxer movie with Jean Claude Van Damme. He looks different without the mustache.
No it's not
Google is your friend man. It's most definitely not him.
This actor is Wang Luoyong. He is not too famous but he's a powerful actor in his own right. He started learning English in his 30's and managed to get a near native American accent, and got his start performing at Broadway.
IRL the DEMON WON n took his SON BRANDON TOO ! smh 🥲
Name is music ?
Sad That Ip Man & Bruce Lee Passed 7 Months Apart 🙏🏾!
