  • Quick live i did this morning where i broke down a simple improv idea where you outline the chords that are being played in the backing track, and fill in the blanks using notes from the nearest scale- pentatonic or modes (or hexatonic lol).
    I also answered some questions regarding horizontal arpeggios and revealed a simple little octave trick i use all the time to achieve massive sounding arpeggios across the entire neck.
    We also had a look at my Bias FX plugin, and how i got my sound for this particular video.
    I'll be doing A LOT MORE live streams, so make sure you have your notifications turned on, come by, say hi, and ask me anything you want :)

      Did you try playing with the minor pentatonic? You might need to memorize all the five minor pentatonic shapes.
      If you already memorized all the pentatonic shapes you should play what you hear in your head.
      Don't just noodle around the minor pentatonic or else you won't sound melodic.
      Arpeggios are great too. You can start from the root if you want that sound.
      You can also play the 3rd or the 5th or the 7th or the extensions or whatever as long as you sound good in context with the chords.
      Just play with the chord changes. This works easier if you train your ears on intervals.
      Try to keep everything simple from the start of the solo so that you have a specific idea where the melody can go.
      Then add toppings like bending, sliding, hammer ons, pull offs, dynamics, vibrato, basically use techniques for some extra spice and flavour. Depends on each players taste and style of playing.
      Please work on your rhythm feel as it greatly benefits your improv soloing. Aight bye you beautiful person have a great day/night 🎶

    I'm using the major scale 3npstring shapes,each shapes i have 3 chords in it so for improvising it's much easier to target the chord tones using these shapes, and also the chromatic with blue note for scale run.

    Very nice. Yes, hard to hear your voice over backing track...but I'm half deaf and with tinnitis from playing in bands.. The more you slow down and explain the more clear your playing is understood.

  • @eross21
    @eross21 Рік тому

    so far the arpeggios
    are you starting on the root not of the chord currently playing in the progresssion, and then spreading g it across the two higher octaves as well?

  • @eross21
    @eross21 Рік тому

    also, are you changing the scale you are playing for each time a new chord is played? or is it all in the same scale? if so, how do you choose a scale to match the progression ?

    • @jonathans4187
      @jonathans4187 5 місяців тому

  • @eross21
    @eross21 Рік тому

    so when you say you are outlining the chord notes as the progression changes. are you just playing a made up pattern of the current chord that is playing ? or are you playing the chords notes that also line up in that scale?
