Arguably the darkest Element Animation song, possibly Minecraft song as a whole. I couldn't help but feel terrified once the Librarian figured it out and was practically being drowned out by everyone singing as he panicked and "Santa" got farther and farther away until it was too late.

@@ready0008 It probably really is him!! This is probably a prequel to "Your Door was Locked" which is why you can see him in the pit of death later on. I mean, the GITB Guy always asked you to go into the bag and if you refused he just knocked you out manually and stuffed you in there. So of course he'd do it again but with more flair once he learnt magic

Love how Santa tells a villager to not ask about his sack and does nothing when a entire crowd does it.
I think its because the rest of the villagers are in a sort of trance-like state, if you watch the beginning scene closely you'll notice Santa bumps into the librarian causing him to "snap back to reality" in a way. It appears that the Trance can be broken if an outside force not under the trance makes contact with the villager, for example the villager that Santa blew glitter onto seemed to be very confused and not going with the crowd. Another smaller example is when Santa start's his epic Sax solo(Which I honestly love) and throws his robes onto a villager, notice how for a moment the villager keeps jumping in motion with the rest but then all of a sudden starts struggling to get it off. Santa knows that the librarian and glitter villager are not in the trance so he does his best to keep them at bay to ensure they don't ruin his plan i.e pushing them aside and going back to the glitter villager to get him again

I love how the subtitles are like a normal song subtitle until the Villager that notices Santas crime talks, then the subtitles are offset and blend in and out quickly, as if they just say whatever the Villagers say and don't just repeat the song. Thats a nice detail!

honestly, element animation and the massive team behind everything they do is one of the most consistent and best things to come to both the minecraft and animation community. always absolute stellar animation, and with the rather restricting form of minecraft models, its incredible what they can do

1:38 - Three villagers behind the Librarian are just completely still. Like they are not moving at all.
3:00 - If you look at the guy next to the nitwit in the background, another villager litterally walks through him and just chills in his body.
It's nice to see that he's gone for the subtle route...I guess asking people to "get in the bag" wasn't working.

Just imagine what the situation must be like for the kids in that scenario. They're so happy that they are getting presents, or so they think, and suddenly they are inside that big sack. They struggle and scream desperately, calling out to their parents, but their parents' very singing makes it so nobody can hear them. Despite all the happy and cheerful music, this is actually one of the most terrifying things a kid can experience.

Coming back after a year and after completely forgetting about it and now rewatching this I want to say…..
Amazing work like always. Keep it up element! Take your time on these because we know no matter what it will turn out great.
One year later, and this is still the best Christmas song
I love the small detail where the dancing villagers aren't quite in sync so it looks like actual dancing and less mechanical. Something else I noticed is the 2 people Santa physically interacted with were the ones that had the charm broken. We know the one that was yelling (Bumped at 0:41), but the other one was just assaulted by glitter repeatedly so he couldn't make much sense of what was going on (0:45 and 1:34).

I am that legend watching this banger in the middle of July.
After re-watching it a few times, I have found at least two elves in the video aiding the villager Santa in his mischief. The most noticeable one is at 1:15 behind the tree when the two villager children run up to receive their presents. However, there is one before this point at 0:34 in the background. He does not appear to be wearing the proper Christman acquire, but he looks awfully suspicious, hiding in the forest, so it is a good possibility that he is one of the elves.

The amount in detail to turn a christmas song into something dark is hard to notice until the smart villager(does he have a name/number?) notices Santa is singing strange lyrics and going back to rewatch for more details on the environment and the song shows you the previous foreshadow. Please keep it up.

I'm glad I came back to this video in the middle of July. Guess I'm an absolute legend!
This is my favorite song now, although without context it is sus but this just the best type of song they could’ve ever made, and my first one I’ve watched from them.
What a fantastic Christmas carol. So festive. Makes you wonder just what exactly was in that big sack of his, but I guess we'll never know.
Also I love all the little details going on. Not only do all the villagers have professions, but they have different levels of professions as shown by their belts. If you look behind the tree the children run to, an elf waits in lurk. The santa actually shoots the same guy with the magic dust since you can see he has a black eye the second time. The librarian at the end is tipped off because santa bumps into him, throwing off his groove. Everything is set up to minimize the number of people interacted with while making the whole thing a spectacle, that way the fewest villagers catch on as possible to the trance and he can get away with the whatever is in the sack at the end. Festive cheer, probably. It really is a wonder where all the children go throughout the video though...
(Also the one guy getting absolutely DESTROYED by the candy cane present gun thing. Just FWOOMP knocked back off screen in a couple of frames. Fantastic. XD)

How have these guys not been offered the chance to turn the villagers into a TV show or something!
You know that they are the animators for some of the Official Minecraft Minecon videos and Official Mibecraft Update Anouncements, right?
Even waaaay back before that, they had an offical "gag" resource pack and I'm pretty sure that the official Aprils Fools event where everybody got turned into villagers was a reference to them.
Okay, I'm mean it's not a TV show... But they're regularly acknowledged by Mojang at this point. In someways, that might actually be a bigger acomplishment.

They do have villager tv 1-3 or 4

He appears in "Chrismas with the villagers 2" saying to someone to get in the bag, also, in "Your door was locked" he appears inside of the pit of death, so this means that this is a prequel.
Merry Christmas, Element Animation! Last year, I watched that after Christmas. This year, I watch this before Christmas and now it's Christmas, I'm watching this for fun.
