I believe the more beautiful something is, the closer it is in signifying a greater form we relate to and find familiar yet expansive e.g. a better place or our real selves, find in imagination or nostalgia. This means the more beautiful a thing is hence a greater warmth and promise of suitability, the fewer people can understand it and relate to it. Find something that everyone can understand and enjoy and you'll find it dull unless it is general to the human psyche. P.S. this could be my philosopher side trying to keep Johnny Flynn for myself.
The music industry is run by people who have no clue about music. Also you would not want people listening to inspirational music. You might end up with people using there imagination
He is such a beautiful man, and it's because he's not trying to be someone else, he's just himself, stripped down to honest simplicity, and that's a really beautiful thing.
"spelling jesus won't you please us cos you seem a damn nice guy damn nice guy, damn nice guy" I don't why but that's one of my favorite lines in any song ever.
The voice, the looks, the strumming and the cello solos ~ all wonderful, but what sets him apart is the poetry and the cadence he puts into the lyrics. One of my favorites.
I would love for Johnny to cover an old Donovan song .. almost any of them would suit him .. for example ... "Ah but I may as well catch the wind" or "In the morning when she rise" .... or some of the Nora Jones songs .... like "Humble Me" ... but I love his olde classic English trademark songs as well .. pg
@sunskaterpeople I've been having the same problem. I've been able to find the chords for most of his songs. Bit I can't for the life of me figure out his strumming. It just fascinates me. The the best close up of his strumming I've ever seen and I still couldn't figure it out.
In the studio version, I always thought he was doing the harmonies with himself, now I think he could possibly have done it with that drummer bloke instead, their voices are so similar!
@BillyGirl069 oh no REALLY?! I think you've just ruined it for me forever . . . I'm a confirmed Twi-hater . . . Meh doesn't make Johnny any less awesome I spose.
Never understand why he's not more famous than he is

@@MGHOoL5 If I owned a pub I'd call it "Nostalgia" and only serve cider on warm sunny days and play Johnny Flynn over and over.

@@MGHOoL5 you wrote it well....

This is one of the best live performances I've ever seen in my life! Johnny Flynn is a genius!!
...and he is only 26 here in 2009....
He is such a beautiful man, and it's because he's not trying to be someone else, he's just himself, stripped down to honest simplicity, and that's a really beautiful thing.

The voice, the looks, the strumming and the cello solos ~ all wonderful, but what sets him apart is the poetry and the cadence he puts into the lyrics. One of my favorites.

cool, when was this performed, recently? :)
@simenlillen it's called a resonator guitar
james, that was me!
Are you talking about that big metal thing? It's called a resonator guitar. It's kind of like a dobro.
You are really Irish, are'nt you ? So beautiful all your songs. Thank you.
No - that's one of the greatest marketing tricks of all time: the idea that anything good has ever come out of Ireland. He's English.
nick260682 Actually he's from Johannesburg, South Africa.
Did he carve a chunk out of his guitar to install pickups?
In the studio version, I always thought he was doing the harmonies with himself, now I think he could possibly have done it with that drummer bloke instead, their voices are so similar!
@wartree Oh yes he was :)
Ahh what a sad song
💖💕💖💕💖💕💖💕
How old is he?
Is he singing "She was no Andy Carrol" at 0:42?
Gabriel no Hattie Caroll
She was no Andy Carroll
She was only 5 foot 2
But her spirit soared so high
High above both me and you
Me and you, me and you.
Why can't match.com set me up with him ????????

One day he'll send for me......
lol I thought so too
he reminds me of syd barrett
Who doesn't?
now he's cute as a button isn't he ;)
he is more of a endorphin! :D
i would like very much for him to be husband immediately.
Hattie Carrol. Look her up, and while you are at it look up the Bob Dylan song Lonesome death of Hattie Carrol!
