In 1998 Mike Mickelwhite, skippered 4 of us to Molokai aboard, "Escape" 54' Beneteau. Then left us to finish the trip from Molokai, to Lanai, to Maui back to Molokai and ending up, again in Oahu by ourselves. I thought I was a sailor, but the passage to Molokai made me a sailor. Now, I have been an ASA Instructor since 1996 and still at it. That trip still ranks way high on my list of sailing experiences.
Pretty cool! We have sailed in Denmark, Norway, Croatia, The Channel Islands. And at home in The Nethelands! But Hawaii is definitely on the bucketlist of sailing destinations, we would like to visit. Ahoy, and best regards from The Nethelands! Teresa
No, not all. Most boats just anchor. You can side tie but your boat might get all chewed up on the ragged wall and the coral is growing out pretty far, you gotta be careful.
Molokai isnt really "the most Hawaiian". The vast majority of locals are Filipinnos who think they are native Hawaiians and act like they own the place. In case anyone needs a history lesson, no humans are native to Hawaii. The polynesians immigrated to Hawaii around 1200 AD and the Filipinnos came about 150 years after white Europeans.
This video brings back some memories.
Thanks!

great video.
Where is the best location to do a bareboat charter in Hawaii?
Unfortunately there's really no bareboat chartering in Hawaii, it's all crewed.
do they require you to med moor in lono? its my greatest fear sailing.

Nice video, but the backing music is insanely annoying.
Thanks! I'll see if I can get better music for the next one. It's stock royalty free music.

It was also a leper colony in the 19th Century, which might be why it developed rather differently from the other Hawaiian islands.
Ah yes, and the Menehune... ? Where did they come from?
