Here’s the thing: while all of us love some juicy breakdowns - it’s the build up that gives it the oomph needed to unleash hell when it drops. For me the build up is essential. Without it these are just nasty ass breakdowns. I need time to pent up some energy and then almost snap my neck when the breakdown finally rolls out.
Spot on 100%.
Aye Master Mirror
ua-cam.com/video/8_1EywRL_Ss/v-deo.html This video is for metalheads :)
For me, being caught off guard is way better. I wanna headbang even more when a song just sneaks a breakdown on me halfway through a song.
@@mementomori2839 that’s also a valid point 🤘
The hardest one was Slaughter To Prevail, because I've almost became numb to Lorna Shores To The Hellfire's breakdown, all the other one's were easy. Not my style to headbang to imo.
To The Hellfire is massively overexposed for a metal song. We all know it. The vocal coach reaction channels already covered it to the point that one of them did a laryngoscopy on Will Ramos. We fucking know he's good.
@@DragonTigerBoss absolutely, I didnt say that to take away his talent its just we've seen that all before on that song many many times
@@dennistrusty5145 Here's something you may not have known: I've seen Austin Dickey from For The Likes Of You do the ending of Hellfire and the Demolisher scream completely off the cuff. Look them up if you don't know them yet, bro. Murrrrrderous band.
Yeah I kicked my cat across the room and burned my neighbors house down when STP came on... I failed hard.
ua-cam.com/video/8_1EywRL_Ss/v-deo.html (This video is for only metalheads ;) )
I passed, it’s definitely the build up to a breakdown that gets me. Best example is the breakdown in Bottom Feeder by Parkway Drive. “You can’t escape now snap your neck to this” gets me every single time haha
I’m with you man the slaughter to prevail almost had me but I passed and feel they could’ve done better with the choices, love all your vids keep it brotha!
Mac n cheese is clean

Pantera's Domination (live) breakdown is the most amazing breakdown i've ever heard!!!
It's the equivalent to Godzilla stomping a city.
One of the greatest of all time.
For real!
The godfather of all breakdowns.
instant fail on that one. i think Loudwire did one of these and put that first and thats fucking dirty lol
I passed with no problem. Thx for the reaction Alex.
It brings tears to my eyes to see how a hardcore Metalist is born 💪🏻😎👍🏻
Man, the breakdown in motionless in whites "thoughts and prayers" gets me everytime.
Absolutely! Also the one on Meltdown.
@@tysonclarke7026Meltdown’s probably their nastiest breakdown ever honestly
Lost it at the first "A Day To Remember" song. I hold that band close to heart as it was the band that introduced me to that genre of Metal.
What is the song called
@@rianwalker312 last chance to dance (bad friend)
As I Lay Dying was the only breakdown that made me feel the slightest itch to headbang, but I resisted the urge to. I found the others boring. Slow breakdowns just don't appeal to me as much as catchier and more relentless ones do (like "Profane Believers" by Heaven Shall Burn, for example)
Me too
Found the screamo kid.
To headbang on the slow ones you should listen to the full song. You wouldnt headbang if you only listened to the breakdown.
@@Y0za
No, when I said I'm not a fan of the slow breakdowns, I meant that even when listening to full songs. I like my breakdowns on the punchy side.
I love heaven shall burn!!! Counterweight is the one where I windmill headbang
I do really enjoy the breakdown on Zombified by FIR; however somewhat simple, it's very enjoyable and has a good pace, and not excessively heavy just for the sake of being heavy
I find breakdowns from bands like ADTR, BMTH, Parkway drive, I prevail, Bad Omens are harder to not head bang to. Maybe because they are bands I like and I do it naturally or sometimes the breakdowns are unexpected.
This was actually hard. Sometimes I forget this is the music of my soul lol.
"Becoming the Dragon" by Trivium DESTROYED me seeing them live in 2015! Not deathcore like most of the picks here, but the breakdown in that song sneaks up on you and breaks your neck faster than SCP-173, haha!
ALEX YOURE A METALCORE KID AT HEART
Woohoo. It’s always so cool to come back to your videos 😁🤘🏼
As a metalhead for almost two decades now, I didn't headbang at any of these.
Because I didn't hear any music. Just some heavy drums and a pig being gutted alive.
Ok, so it’s not just me, whewwwwwww lol
@@frodo6058 Come on, there are so may great bands out there. These don't even pass for decent.
@@stefantsarev4442 Agreed, but it seems like these channels don’t select them lol
Hardest one for me was definitely As I Lay Dying. I seen em twice on this last tour and Through Struggle about killed my neck each time they played it
I spent 10+ years listening to metalcore/deathcore in earphones while landscaping. I can definitely listen and not headbang. It's an acquired ability.
Mac n cheese is clean. Love the videos man! Keep up the great work!
Everytime I liste to Lorna Shore's To The Hellfire I headbang hard af, not headbanging this time has been really tough
ua-cam.com/video/8_1EywRL_Ss/v-deo.html (This video is for only metalheads ;) )
Ok, but the real test is “can you not tap your toes?” I can get through it without head banging, but my feet have a mind of their own.
I didnt even notice i was toebanging until I read this haha! Yep, thats a lot harder
Macaroni and cheese is clean! Dude love your vids! Have watched for a couple years now. Spot on and always great! Thanks dude for making a dismal mans life more uplifting
ua-cam.com/video/8_1EywRL_Ss/v-deo.html This video is for metalheads :)
Greatest breakdown in metal cannot be replaced : pantera domination
I personally think that knocked loose should have been included in this list. Those breakdowns make me want to mosh, headbang and fight people all in one nice package of destructive smash. Also Lorna Shore being inducted twice is understandable but why…? Oh and Mac n cheese is clean.
I think Paleface should have made a presence with their intense beatdown style, as well as To the Grave. It’s like aggression incarnate!
Shoot, Slaughterhouse was pretty sick, you got MIW AND Knocked Loose
@@SunRayz3r Or The Orphan
Yeah that was pretty easy! As I Lay Dying and Baba Yaga bout got me! But Deathmetal and Deathcore just doesnt do it for me! If these headbang challenges would stick more to the metalcore side of things, I'd be struggling! Frfr! lol
Oh and dude, mac and cheese is SO clean!!
Through struggle is the hardest one for me. Been rocking out to that song for like 13 years
Through Struggle broke me I have been listening to it for almost 2 decades and it still got me
ua-cam.com/video/8_1EywRL_Ss/v-deo.html (This video is for only metalheads ;) )
I fell at hurdle 2! Got the hoover out and started to clean the house. Whole thing done in 5 mins 👌🏻
Lemme tell ya.. I listen to all of those same songs almost every day and I've headbanged to them enough to send my head into fuckin' orbit... Them breakdowns are still straight brutal but I got through this like a breeze... Was grinning like a mf tho
ua-cam.com/video/8_1EywRL_Ss/v-deo.html This video is for metalheads :)
Mac n Cheese is clean. Keep it up man. This channel is in a good spot and I hope it even better
mac n cheese is clean
you have great videos, your high energy always brightens my day, also digging the movie reactions! keep it up
I failed miserably. As I Lay Dying's Through Struggle is the one that got me. It's an all-time favorite 😆
Baba yaga took me out. God i love that song.
@@goldenhate6649 Their new song 1984 is straight 🔥
Fuck yes the last part of the song is fucking sick
I feel for Lorna being easier than Slaughter has to deal with the instruments rather than vocals. See Lornas is all about Vocals and Slaughters is all about that power punching breakdown that’s just, well nasty.
Both are brutal and i definitely prefer Lorna, but maybe they picked the wrong song. I know Sun//Eater has a caveman stompy breakdown.
I see it as you do but for me, STP is miles ahead of Lorna Shore. It's just that brutal feeling, they never fail to give you. But I appreciate your opinion , Will's vocals are nasty af
@@fe4rr74 I’m a vocal man and I find Lorna more pleasing than Slaughter. But I enjoy both.
@@Someguyy867 yeah as an instrumentalist who is learning extreme vocals I prefer Lorna in both by a mile yet Baba Yaga and Made in Russia breakdowns are juicy
DUDE.......THE CULT SONG FIRE WOMAN 🔥🔥
That tickling feeling in your neck is the proof that you are metalhead
Heavy as hell! This was a really tough challenge hahaha
The reaction to STP was hysterical…..
"OH SHIT" before it started. Lmao!
Mac and cheese is clean,
Anyway great reactions man loving the content recently
Mac n cheese is clean.
Keep up the amazing work! Always enjoy the vids! Also, Ice Nine Kills has a new video up for The Shower Scene!
The second one got me.
Something about 'clean mac n cheese',
Love your content, I've been following for years now, and your videos are always great. Keep up the hard work
Dam .... a very good choice with Baba yaga just before To Hellfire... that's to me the 2 best Breakdown !!!
(but it's just my opinion between Slaughter to Prevail & Lorna Shore)
Thx & stay safe bro !!!
Salute from France
3:39 It started all serious... until Alex went "oh sh¡t" XD
Awesome video dude
Man Alex this I a great list! Has my neck in total pain!
The Ghost Inside’s Aftermath and Pressure Point always get me
Instantly started foot tapping... instant loss 🤣🤣
No problem at all.
I fail it! When you start playing As I Lay Dying I was banging my head lol
Pantera - Domination (live - Moscow)
Parkway Drive - Absolute power
Machine head - Razorblade smile
Ive sang to the hellfire so many times that it doesn't even feel heavy anymore
i love that in the end he has to get it outta his system
Mac n cheese is clean! Fantastic video as always Alex
I feel like the only breakdown I cannot for my life NOT headbang to, is Pantera's Domination. It's just such an iconic break, it's impossible for me.
Easiest try not to headbang, ever. Of all time.
Of course it helps when you think all of what was played was just sounds like garbage cans being thrown down an alley.
that reign of darkness one is so good, but the as i lay dying one took me back haha
Mac and cheese is clean 😎🔥
Love your content bro
Mac n cheese is clean. This felt like easy mode, for the most part.
Time permitting, I'll see about getting one built for you and the crew sometime in the near future.
Solid video, dude. Didn't get me, but Baba Yaga do be thumpin.
Mac and cheese is clean. Also, the lead up to a breakdown is crucial to get you mentally prepared for what’s coming. If you just get the breakdown, a lot of times it is just loud music, and that’s great, but like anything else in life, if you don’t have context, you miss out. Keep it up Alex, loving the content!
ua-cam.com/video/8_1EywRL_Ss/v-deo.html (This video is for only metalheads ;) )
MAC N CHEESE IS CLEAN - CLEAN AS HEFNERS VIDS. GOOD LUCK BRO!
Thy Art is Murder almost took me out. There were some damn good ones in there, but I'll admit, King Ov Deception was a hell of a lot tougher than To The Hellfire was, and I adore both songs tremendously.
through struggle was hard... love this song!
You have the right headphones for the job too! Balanced, no coloring or beefing up. The same as you’d hear it in the studio with them
Hell yeah! Love these bad boys!!
Slaughter to prevail 😁😁😁😁 got me
Mac n cheese Is clean!!! Technically you did! Lol love it!
The only hard one for me is A day to remember. Every time I listen to the song makes me want to headband. Everything else was easy for me since it’s not my type of music
Too easy 🤘🏻🎸
"Metal for life"
Oofff! The hardest one for me was As I Lay Dying. One of my favorite bands and I listen to them on the daily 😩🖤
When To The Hellfire popped up on the screen I said “oh fuck” out loud at the same time as you 😂
you can't throw old school masterpieces like Through Struggle and No Pity For A Coward at me and expect me not to headbang...damn
I feel like those heavy deathcore breakdowns were easy to not headband because there’s really no groove to it. Baba Yaga is groovy and heavy, it makes the stank face come out and the irresistible urge to headbang. I’m with you on the songs it was tough to not headbang on, the others just had me stank facing it up.
Mac n cheese is clean
These breakdowns were sick!
Swallowing the rabbit whole!!! Code orange woulda be harrrrd!! That build up is intense
As I lay dying got me for sure. One of my favorite songs on the planet.
Heavy Metal babyyyyyyyyy🤘🤘
Through struggle almost got me 🤣
Easiest headband challenge I've ever done
Crushed it 🤘🔥🔥🤘
ua-cam.com/video/8_1EywRL_Ss/v-deo.html This video is for metalheads :)
Alright let's go
Mac and cheese is CLEEEEANNN!! I nearly lost is at ADTR. but I made it through! 🤟🤟 love your videos dude.
Reign of darkness, I have requested so many times on this channel lmao
Let’s F’ing go!
Mac n Cheese is clean. Everyone knows this!!
Great video man! Slaughter to Prevail got me!!
Mac and cheese is clean!!
Clean AF
Baba Yaga was definitely the hardest one, if it had played a little longer I would have lost for sure 🤣
5:35
Fail. You were still recording 😎
As The Structure Fails - All The Weight gets me every freaking time. Right after the second chorus I believe
You got me on As I Lay Dying :D
Its hard to fail these challenges, yet I felt myself wanting to do some sort of movement since I knew all of these songs... but the moment you play Blastphemian, Baba Yaga, or ANYTHING with WIll Ramos I'm struggling big time.
Slaughter, always gets me
A couple were hard, a couple were so ludicrously easy that it actually reset me and made the hard ones easier to tolerate.
thank you brotha for reaction, i thought it would be harder when i was making thiv vid, but you passed so again thx for reaction
No cash needed bro. I just love metal.
mac and cheese is clean! *chefs kiss
Yeah.... forget headbanging... I was just straight up moshing in my chair by the end LOL
I failed on the slaughter to prevail one damn it shreds
I'm a sucker for old school As I lay dying so through struggle got me!
Im glad to see Dexcore in this video. It's sign from god. You have to do this man 🔥
thank you, Japanese bands need getting some love too
Psychosocial gets me everytime
