Gunwook is actually an amazing rapper I have been watching him since Wild Idol (another survival show) which he was in but unfortunately he didn't get any chance to showcase his rap skills throughout boysplanet and this album. Hopefully he can showcase that in their upcoming album
In my opinion, gunwook is a really solid rapper. Even before boys planet, he was my favourite rapper on wild idol (another survival show he was on previously) I rooted for him on both shows🥲 To be honest in Youth In the Shade his talent wasn’t shown to it’s full potential, but he can really do anything… sing, rap and dance :) I enjoyed the reaction though, keep the zb1 content coming!
About the rap positions, actually gunwook entered boys planet as an all rounder (he confidently said it when the masters asked him during the level assessment, as he should), and he did show through bp that he’s well versed in rap, dancing and singing. He is in fact a great rapper, but wasn’t able to showcase it in this album due to the songs not being rap heavy, I guess cause the producers and writers didn’t know exactly who was going to be in the group until the finale and, since the time between the final episode and their debut date wasn’t too long, they decided to go on the safest route have songs that would fit anyone debuting from the show. Gunwook has in fact shown pre-boys planet, during bp (was praised by BOBBY in an episode), in the show Wild Idol (where he was also praised for his rap skills by famous rappers who i believe were mentors, but correct me if i’m wrong as i haven’t watched that show), as well as a couple times after debut that he is indeed a very skilled rapper both flow and lyrics wise!! 😊 I’ve seen the translation of a couple of his raps and I was so surprised by how he used rhymes in some of his raps, cause they were impressive, and he’s so young. I cannot imagine what kind of ace he will turn into as he gets more and more experience in the industry cause the talents he possesses right now are crazy… I, and many zeroses i believe, feel like if he was in other groups he would easily be able to snatch the main position, be it rap, dance or singing, cause he is THAT good…
Gunwook is probably THE rapper of the group. If they were assigned positions, he'd definitely be a very strong contender for main rapper. He focused a lot more on rap in his first survival show, Wild Idol and focused more on dance and vocals on Boys Planet.
I feel like we all have out different suspicions about what's gonna happen to the members when they disband, but the most popular theories are that Hanbin will likely debut solo, and as 4/9 members are under the same company, hao, ricky, gyuvin, and yujin, will likely debut together, possibly with other yuhuea contestants from the show who are also in a temporary debut group rn, 'Evnne'.
I really don’t expect much from the first release of survival show groups since it’s is planned before the lineup is known. But they mostly managed to highlight each member well while putting out some great music Among fans, love is spread pretty evenly for all the songs. NKOTB was the promoted b-side so the general public knows it the most. It’s also the most upbeat and mindlessly happy and that’s probably why its streams are high. The choreo is very fun! Like others said, Gunwook is a great rapper. He was highly praised on Wild Idol for his rap knowledge, writing, and skill. He mainly showcased his dancing on Boys Planet (which is fair-it’s feels like the main priority for boy groups now). Unfortunately there’s a lot of fans from the show that are loudly anti-rap. I approve of not forcing rap into every song especially when you don’t have people great at it, but I think Gunwook can work some magic if they give him the chance Hao is pretty tall! He gives off tiny and smol energy so we forget that a lot. Matthew and Taerae are average height, and the rest are quite tall. The maknae line of this group are all giants. For comparison, Hao is officially around Beomgyu height while Gyuvin’s a little taller than Soobin
i don't like cheering parts in songs either, in particular when it's like, the whole chorus and it's clearly just covering up bad vocals. i don't mind it in our season bc i don't think it interferes w the actual singing and mostly (with the exception of the last bit) is actual cheering and not like cheer-singing, but i totally get what you mean.
You know hao has so much potential but he isn't korean so he has very lack of chances in k-industry. It's amazing how zhang hao loved by k-fans bcuz korea always have prejudice again chinese idols, fandom love him, but industry will give priority to korean members rather than foreign members.
