what a gem of a channel to find at one in the morning. personally, i find christmas to be a pendulum. some years it's holly jolly, some years it's doom and gloom. i have the same problem with halloween too, but never new years.
I'm only 14 and feeling this, years ago I felt so happy about Christmas so much sooner. This year Christmas is days away and I'm forgetting it's even the holiday season, I've heard people at my school talking about this as well. I dont know why, but it seems 2024 is the year with no Christmas spirit.
the only thing that keeps me going is the christmas dinner, that's about it, you can also try to give presents between your family, you know try to give a present to someone you like this christmas, seeing their happiness it's all worthy
even after "growing up" i still got to experience christmas for a while since i still had family to celebrate it with, but after death and other factors, christmas only serves as a reminder of loss, basically the polar opposite of what christmas used to be
Hello from Lithuania Yeah Christmas is gone, I can definitely remember how Christmas felt when I was a kid, now, especially since snowy weather in December is gone, it's just any other day with the added headache of thinking what to gift to your close friends and family. Receiving socks and shower gel is nice, but it's definitely nothing like waking up early christmas morning to rush towards the christmas tree to find something epic. Sad it's gone but at least the warm, fuzzy memories are there
I grew to hate christmas because it reminds me that with every year its getting warmer and warmer And there is less and less snow and that i cant do anything about it It became just a long autumn but without the colorful leaves just a long gray autumn
2:20 Yeah, I gotta say it is because youre growing up. It happens to everyone sadly. Christmas used to be this magic special time. I'd say after about my 18th Christmas the magic was gone but it was probably fading away even before then. Being 28 now and it is very much just a normal day. Except you spend a massive amount of money and use Christmas as an excuse to do so.
Feel you on this one. Doesn't snow, like at all, where I come from. Most days i forget it's Christmas because I don't really see decorations that much. Could say that it's just how things are when you grow up but I'd like to believe(key word right there) that we just don't put in that much energy into making it feel... Christmassy, like our parents, or media did. Overly spruce up the place with random ahh decor, play a bunch of chrimcram songs till you practically want to gauge your ears out, rent a bunch of those generic movies and binge em. Maybe even throw a get-together with your close ones while you're at it(can't forget the presents too). As silly as it might sound, coming from someone who considers themselves pretty silly, when we grow up we start to see these little "morale" things that were in our childhood as menial - not worth the effort. We've got taxes to evade, right? This feels like an aimless complain session so I'll leave it at this - we stopped taking care of that lil kid inside us that loved Christmas. As kids we'd even take care of our love for Christmas, albeit unknowingly but still. Now we've got other "important" things to think about.
I still think that lil guy's in us somewhere. Waiting for adult us to actualize the dreams that they had, that we can't really have ourselves. Just wanted to add this to lift some of that sad energy I had before.
what to do to bring it back: reach out to your friends and family to throw a Christmas party: go out to holiday events that people around you might be running, participate in chairty such as toys for tots that are focused on giving during Christmas, decorate your home and your devices with Christmas decor and themes... idk man just waiting for everyone else to throw Christmas at you and then making a video about how u aint feeling it...isn't the biggest possible change you could see in the world.
