Great tips! I am a worshipleader at the kidsservice for 6 years now, and I’m discovering more and more about how to actually reach the kids with the gospel and in worship. It’s so important to make the things interactive. And in my experience I’ve been a little ‘scared’ to do the silly dances with the 11-12 year olds. Turned out many times they actually need a little silly time to ‘break the ice’ (as we say in Holland). It’s so important to help the kids to feel comfortable. I noticed that when you get the kids to do crazy and comfortable, they find easier to seek Jesus together. So be crazy and funny first, and then you can lead the kids into a deeper form of worship. Blessings to you all!
This was wonderful. Thank you so much! I love the idea of adding dance moves as I wasn't sure what songs to use for the children without thinking of the super sweet or kiddie songs. Adding dance moves allows us to use any Christian song and allows us all (adults and kids) to worship God together. I also love the idea of kids leading kids. I am going to give this a try this Sunday for Kid's church.
I just took a position in a very small church, I am 66 and have no experience in working with children, now I am the children program director, but really is I teach all the children in one class, we have 8 children ranging from 4 to 13 in the same room. I am struggling with ideas and setting up the program. I also work another job 30 hours per week. I feel that God has led me to this position and want so much to be able to do well for these kids. I am so afraid that I won’t be able to do this, I am praying that God will work thru me because I know I can’t do this on my own. I am the only person working with the children, most of the church members are in their 60’s to 80’s age wise. No younger families, the children are from older people taking care of foster children or grandchildren are left with occasional, we also hav 3 that only attend on Wednesday because their church does not do Wednesday night church. Thank you for all your tips
Watcing this this year and got amazing nuggets thank you for sharing. If I may share a tip as you requested, (though late to the party) it would be try go back to your childhood and think, how would I want to be led in worship as a child...Also recalling Jesus words in Mark 18:10 helps keep me in perspective when I get to lead worship. I realize I'm leading God's favorite people; VIPs in fact :)

Buy some props for children to use in worship
This is a great idea! can you please make some recommendations on props? (i.e. flags?)
Lead by Example - Let the kids see you worshipping the Lord.
Lead from your heart of worship. Be real. Know that you are ushering them to the heart of God. Be silly.
