    @6:52 His name is Captain Kirk... I bet he's real proud of himself, too.
    Commanding officer: Congratulations on your hard work, you will be promoted today to the rank of Major.
    Capt Kirk: Uh...Can I just stay a Captain?
    CO: But you've been in the military for 15 years!
    Capt. Kirk: Yeah...Captain is good. I'm good with Captain.

    • @umcklxx5576
      @umcklxx5576 5 років тому +31

      You must complete 2 months of service for each month of paid tuition and benefits, meaning that if you spend 4 years in medical school, you must be ready to work in the military for the next 8 years. If you also want the CAF to pay for your undergraduate degree, expect to be in the military for 16 years. If, however, you fail medical school (which is very common btw), the CAF will NOT cover the costs of tuition and supplies that you have already spent. It is best, in my opinion, to complete med school without the Medical Officer Training Plan (MOTP) and then enter the military through direct entry, the starting salary would be the same ($157,000), meaning that you can pay back your student loans in no time and you won't have to worry about an 8-16 year contract. Just some things to consider.

    does this count as BMQ? or do you need your BMQ in order to get this? I was looking at going into Reserves, and this looked like the best course i can get. But i was not.. fully.. looking for a career as an officer. again, more as a Reserve Member. Any advice or information would be appreciated.

    • @sparrow1380
      @sparrow1380 10 років тому +4

      BMOQ and BMQ are the same thing. Except BMOQ are for entry level officers while BMQ is for entry level NCMs. To be a commissioned officer you need a degree. In your case I would go see your local reserve unit as well as your nearest recruiting office. If you are looking for a career as an NCM I would check out joining the Regular Forces. You will get paid more and it is a full time job.

    • @readhistory2023
      @readhistory2023 6 років тому +4

      CS, which is what they hit you with in the gas chamber, is basically tear gas. On exposure to it your nose will run like a faucet, your throat will burn and constrict, which will make you cough and hack uncontrollably mass amounts of phlegm. On top of that your eyes will water so much you can't really see except with really blurry vision. It's not generally lethal except there is a slight chance you might throw up in your mask and choke on your own vomit if you don't have a proper seal. I'll put it this way. You won't volunteer for a second go.

    And this right here is why most enlisted men do not respect officers. The disrespect have nothing to do with sex, but it has everything to do with how officers don't go through half as much as what new candidates do in BTT (or GMT or whatever they call it now). Yet having never gone through what an an enlisted man went through, they feel they have the right to make good men and women do things they themselves would never do. I can count on one hand how many officers I actually respected. They were the ones that dug when I dug, rucked when I rucked and shot when I shot.

      Abdul Ahmed If you think officers are less stressed, then you have no idea about the responsibilities of an officer.

      And that is why i am applying to be an infantry officer right there. Not because i want to command others to accomplish the objective but I want to work with the men and woman under my command. To earn each and every one of their respect/trust. To be the first one to start digging a trench for cover and the last one off of the battlefield. To never ask a man or woman to do a task that I would not do myself and finally to remain calm once the bullets start flying and protect everyone under my command. We will accomplish our objectives out of duty and loyalty to our fellow service members.This is my creed. This is why i want to lead in the Canadian armed forces.

      I had a West Pointer that was a good officer, but he was the rare bird and not the norm for the ring knockers. The Citadel guys were really lame from my experience. The best officers I worked under were Mavericks, the former enlisted that became officers. The difference in the competency of the officers was so drastic I think the enlisted pool is where the academies like West Point should be getting their students from and no where else.

      BMQ and BMOQ are pretty much the same except 2 added weeks of leadership courses for the officers so I'm not sure what you're talking about.

      this is *not* the US military, BMOQ takes all of BMQ and adds 2 weeks. The difference exists OUTSIDE of basic training.

    Did this in 2001. 9/11 happened two days after I arrived for training. Got drunk and had sex in the "Mega." Spent ten years in the forces, ending as a captain in the Canadian Special Operations Regiment (CSOR).

    Anyway, I guess this is just one promotional video, I'm sure they're not too keen on posting promo videos of Barns from platoon. Fuggit, have my fitness test scheduled, I'll inject some personality into the CF. They'll probably court marshal me for being too creative! lol
