Good description. What I hate is when some doctors think I am lying due to me not showing intense discomfort from pain. Maybe, I have learnt to not react when I am in pain but I am actually in pain!!!!
Thanks so much for understanding, that sometimes blood work may not tell the whole story. I wish you were my doctor. One thing about it, you obviously have a profound knowledge of the disease. Please teach other doctors as well, because most of them seem to write us all off as drug seekers. It's Terrible as to how some of us are treated and judged, and 'unfair judgement 'at that. Thanks again for understanding our struggling. I have sickle cell Hbss.
Wow I have never saw someone be so informative n compassionate when it comes to sicklers. Unless you have the disease you can't really explain the pain when you go into crisis. I have been in full crisis with seemingly "acceptable" vitals. I am allergic to morphine and I am on chronic opioid therapy at home then go to the hospital only for them to pretty much be clueless as to what they should do. You covered EVERYTHING from the itching, the doctors not believing our pain, all the way to the right way to taper off our pain meds. I have literally almost lost my life from going from 1mg dilaudid every 2hrs to 5 mg of hydrocodone every 8hrs in the same day. Thank you so much for this!!!

Have you tried a heating pad, a warm bath, meditation has been heard to help deal with some of the pain if you are a mind over matter kind of person. Also ask your doctor about ODT zofran it's an anti nausea medicine that dissolves under your tongue and I literally have protein shakes and boost drinks, which are like ensure, in my fridge all the time because when I cant eat the shakes coat my tummy enough for me to be able to take my meds. Also they have shots they can give you intermittently that might help as well as transdermal patches for certain meds. So many plans of treatment for different individuals. I just wish all doctors thought like this one in the video.

Addiction is a diagnosis too; you should evaluate patients without any bias or preconceived notions. You are admitting to doubting these patients because of people with addiction. I consider that poor practice. Find your correct passion.
