Hi Bill, what a great video, Totnes looks really nice . I think I would like it there. Thankyou for all the time and effort you put in to making your videos . I would like to wish you and your mum a very happy Christmas 🎅🏻🎅🏻🎅🏻 and happy Christmas to Andy 🎅🏻
Hi Bill, many thanks to you and Andy for making this video because it is very close to where my dad was born. He was born in the neighbouring hamlet of Berry Pomeroy, where another one of the castles Andy alluded to is. He didn't have too many memories of the area because the family moved before he was 3. I hope that mum enjoyed her Scotch egg. See you tomorrow mate. 👍👍👍
Glad you enjoyed it - Someone else suggested Berry Pomeroy in another comment - Its on our potential list for 2025 👍 She did enjoy her Scotch Egg thanks - Merry Christmas 👍👍👍
Hello Bill thank you so much for the trip to Totnes, love the shops there, they are so interesting, we always try to have a day there when we come to Devon. Thank you so much for making this one Bill! I have many happy memories spending three years studying at Dartington College of Arts in Totnes during the 1990s. So lovely to see it here! Much appreciated - Have a very happy Xmas!
The 70s was the best time to be at the college BT all accounts mssteve. Free love and drugs lol. My first gf was the caretakers daughter back in the 90s. He was into his motorbikes. Her name was Sam I pinched her off my sister and she became my mate l😂, do you remember them the mum worked at peacocks in the town.
You probarly met me as a kid my first girlfriend Sam. Was the caretakers handymans daughter I spent alot of time at Darlington Hall. She was my sisters mate but I pinched her and she became mine 😂😂😂😂. The dad was into trikes and motorbikes but his name escapes me. Happy memories. Dartington was a hairy college in the 1970s by all accounts

How nice a Christmas special in Totnes lovely, so many interesting old buildings and great architecture, so many interesting pubs and shops that you would have to spend a weekend there or go back many a time to take it all in, I can tell you both are enthusiastic about this wonderful place, I was last there as a child and I knew about the archway buildings fire and they certainly did an excellent repair job, great video and thank you for the tour around a Totnes and a merry Christmas to you both 🍗🍰🎄🍻👏👋

Haha. Yes I was born in Dawlish and lived in the midlands for a while & lived on the Warwickshire/ Gloucestershire border. I worked with lots of folks from Birmingham and my wife is from Warwickshire and I caught the twang 🤣 sadly, my own regional accent is disappearing, although I sometimes hear it in Bill , my mother’s was incredibly broad and you’d have never understood my Nan.one of my friends lived in Australia and you’d have never believed he was a Devon lad . Merry Christmas to you as well

Loved going school there andy lower school was open then it's all boarded up now. Lessons were in both schools across the footbridge several times a day.
@@BillsPhoneTeignmouthhappy Xmas bill the walk along the river to Darlington hall estate is worth doing bill. Lots of wildlife. It was part of my dreaded school cross country run. Anybody that has attended kevics will know about that run
It's been a few years since I've been to Totnes town itself but I do remember that it's a good step up that hill to the top of the town, only sweetened by visiting the fudge shop at the bottom on the way back. 🙂 Didn't notice it in the video so maybe it's closed now.
@@chucky2316yes, the church is a fascinating place and certainly on the list.i have read about the Rood screen being one of the finest examples in the county
