  • Awesome study Bibles come in many types, but the best have a commitment to excellence in presentation, scholarship, and usefulness to both their own audience and others who seek to learn. Certainly The Reformation Study Bible, like the previous two study Bibles recently reviewed on this channel, easily scores high in all these categories! Though this episode will be the final video in this study Bible series, it in no way excludes the fact that there are many other supreme study Bibles available. Those such as the ESV and/or NIV study Bibles, Life Application Bible, the study Bibles available from John MacArthur, Tony Evans, and Charles Stanley, among others, make up some excellent work to aid Christians in spiritual growth. This series was mainly created to show viewers and subscribers the creator's favorite study Bibles and encourage them to see the immense value of owning one, or even better, more than one of them. This has been an awesome journey! The Reformation Study Bible does not disappoint when it comes to design, organization, and valuable information. Yes, it is the most scholarly of the three reviewed, however, it's not so much as to be above the minds of its readers. R. C. Sproul, to his eternal credit and late in his earthly life, put together a team of tremendous teachers and scholars to produce one of the most valuable Reformed resources in our times. Those who watch will get an inside look to see that this study Bible is very much worth having and reading for learning and devotion. This video is a review of the 2016 NKJV of The Reformation Study Bible.

Love this review. I read it comes with links and UPC QR codes to scan to get even more info from it?
I just got the leather MacArthur study Bible (on sale for $30 on Amazon woohoo) but still want this. I have a ton of study books, but I feel this will add greatly to my knowledge.
Life Principles (Charles Stanley) full study book leather is $45 now.
This excellent book is $50. I’m limited on my budget…which would you suggest? Thank you sir

RevanJJ thank you for watching my video and it’s wonderful to see that this review continues to be watched and provides positive info for people as they search for the best study Bibles! In reference to your question on QR codes, i bought the Reformation Study Bible not long ago after it was published. It did not have QR codes in it at that time - it might today, but I’m not sure of that. I do know that the Jeremiah Study Bible has QR codes in it. I demonstrated some of those on my video review titled, “Outside the Book Innovation.” Some of those codes didn’t work when I created the video, but the JSB has been updated since then, so I imagine they work now. I would say that you have an excellent study Bible in the MacArthur Study Bible. The Ref Study Bible probably has similar focus and teaching as both are Calvinistic in orientation. I do not have the Life Principles Bible but if I had my choice, I purchase Charles Stanley’s edition because it brings a different perspective over the other two. With study Bibles, it’s good to get a mix of the versions. You think about that and I totally say you can’t go wrong with either. Blessings and thank you again for watching. - Ron

@@2daysdthanks very much for that in-depth reply! I will watch that video. Apparently there are two Bibles I don’t have then. Never heard of the Jeremiah one. If you had to choose on a shoe string budget would you grab the giant Reformation Bible or the Jeremiah one?

@@RevanJJ thank you for responding again and appreciate your question here. I have both the JSB and the RSB and give a pretty clear winner for me on this. I’d choose the Reformation Study Bible because it’s far more comprehensive and detailed than the Jeremiah Study Bible. Don’t get me wrong, the JSB is very good. It is focused on teaching and personal spiritual growth- a Sunday school teacher would benefit greatly from it, or someone who wants to learn and grow from the application perspective. The RSB gives you everything in its notes from context to historical information and many great illustrations, among other learning tools. Hope that helps! Blessings- Ron

@@RevanJJ Love the reply, but you really can’t go wrong with either. Study Bibles are like tools. Each has a different focus and purpose for their existence. In the end, they all fulfill some existing need. Ones like the RSB, the ESV Study Bible (which I think is the best of all of them), and the Christian Standard Study Bible are the best ones that come close to filling all check marks of what you desire from a premium study Bible. I hope you gain much from the RSB!!

Do they make a Bible that has the Bible stories alongside the original stories they were copied from? It would be really educational for people to read the creation story of the enuma elish first so they can see how genesis copied it almost exactly. Noah alongside the epic of Gilgamesh. Samson with Hercules. Book of Esther with the story of Ishtar and Jesus with all the other much much older dying and rising gods with very similar stories like Odin Mithras Krishna Osiris Persephone Orpheus Dionysus Attis theseus innana Perseus Adonis etc etc.. you do know they're all allegorical and that's why they're copied from culture to culture right? There's almost no value in the literal meaning of the Bible in fact how can anyone with any critical thinking person believe that the creator of all has petty human emotions like jealousy and anger.. since jealousy is based on something you don't have I guess isn't all powerful.. He's also a narcissist who gets off when people kill things and sacrifice them to him and worship him.. Do you know how sick it is to create something to worship you? And even though he created is to fail he's going to torture people for eternity for that failure unless in his infinite wisdom a child sacrifice is preferred and not any kid his own kid.. Yeah the most intelligent being in the universe and his great wonderful plan is kill his kid and you just have to believe it.. study that mate

You have only one thing you need to study as a lost blasphemer. “It is appointed to man once to die, and after this the judgment.” Hebrews 9:27 - it’s not because God’s a meanie and unjust as you falsely claim. It’s your own sin that will condemn you as long as you reject Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior. Repent.

Thank you for watching Wolfgang and I appreciate your taking time to leave your thought. Certainly as one who came from a KJV only background years ago I learned over time there are a good number of translations and study Bibles that are highly useful for edification and spiritual growth. It’s good you found one that supports and undergirds your faith. Just know there are other good translations/study Bibles out there that do the same. Thank you again for watching.

@@2daysd my comment was not for you as you have made your choice to enter into apostasy. No saved person would promote an alexandrian text that attack their Lord and savior.. my comment was for some one who has a love for truth. No one said anything about a good translation. We wants God's *words*

    • @2daysd

@@bornagaincarpenter apostasy is defection from the true faith in Jesus Christ and His person. Not the Bible version one uses. If it’s true to the original Hebrew and Greek, it’s a legitimate translation. I encourage you to stop spreading falsehood. I received Jesus as my Lord and Savior at 11 years old and joyfully remain in the faith today. It’s a joy to help others grow in the faith too. Learn what an apostate is before you try to falsely label someone that way over a Bible version.

@@2daysd how do you know what true faith is unless you can have God's exact words? Also there is such a thing as a false convert and since you don't have enough discernment to realize that two opposing ideas cannot both be right I have to question your salvation. You should question it also as I can't think of any children being saved I the new testament

@@bornagaincarpenter I understood fully and was under conviction when I was led to the Lord by the man who counseled me. Perseverance is evidence of true faith so you fail here once again. My preferred Bible versions are translated from the Greek and Hebrew - not from William Tyndal like the KJV. Let’s move on from this issue. From here anything you post will be deleted. I will allow your other comments to remain. Be careful about judging others and your erroneous application of the term apostasy. I could say that if you spend more time defending a Bible translation than sharing Jesus Christ with the lost (the gospel), then I’d be inclined to wonder if you are truly saved. See, this can work both ways my friend. Serve Jesus, and take joy that there are many people out there who want to grow by reading the Scriptures. In the reliable versions of their choice.

No need for more study guides for the English Bible. Hebrew scholars have studied the early versions of the scripture that lends valuable insight. I lost faith in the King James version and all other modern versions after I learned William Tinsdale was burned at the stake by the church for translating the Latin version into English in the 1500s.

Thank you for watching and sharing with us Lawrence. Though I veer from your opinion, I can understand where you’re coming from. However, good study Bibles put together on good faith to present the truth of Scripture to help the saints grow are always beneficial. I’ve used them for many years with my daily reading and have grown immeasurably as a result. I hope you can see their value in the future. One of the very best is the ESV Study Bible.

Does the reformation study bible look at eschatology from a pre-mil or post-mil perspective?

    • @2daysd
      @2daysd  Рік тому +3

Thank you so much for watching and leaving a question in the discussion. First, I want to say that the RSB did a great job critiquing all three millennial positions in its into to Revelation. However, when you read up to the concluding section of the Introduction to the book of Revelation, you see that it admits its favor toward amillennialism. This is no surprise as amillennialism is very historic view of eschatology in the Reformed faith. The key here is, that whether you're pre-, post-, or amillennial, one must believe in the bodily return of Jesus Christ to rule and reign here on earth to be orthodox. and all three positions hold to that. I grew up dispensational/premillennial, but I'm now mostly amillennial. Thank you again for asking!
