Fuck me I haven’t seen this video until now 22.12.22 ten years on. This in the top three of musical experiences I’ve experienced and I’ve seen a few. I went by myself and was up high behind them; I released the kracken when they opened with this. I’ve been brought to tears watching this so thank you. The acoustics were immense. I’m going again next year to see em at Milton Keynes supported by Royal Blood. I can’t wait. Total carnage LETS ROLL 🔥😍🙏💙
It's a bit annoying hearing people go on about the lack of classics etc., they are musicians they are always moving, always experimenting, that's what good top quality musos do, not just playing the same old songs over and over as good as they may be. I like Unsustainable it isn't neccesarily as good as Uprising but it's still good.
I'm guessing he means that there's a hell of a lot going on in the pre-recorded backing track. But the parts they're playing (guitar, bass, drums and synth) are definitely live. Would have been truly epic if they'd had the strings, brass and choir there and did the robot voice through a vocoder but I guess this is the closest we'll get to seeing that!
There's a video on youtube that goes through Matt's gear. He has some on stage, but most there days is behind and his guitar controls the effects when Matt isn't by his gear on stage, giving him more freedom to move about. Also, I don't think Matt has a whammy on stage anymore. He uses another expression pedal to control that and some others effects at the same to save on space.
So many people have asked and nobody has quite given the right answer as to how Matt gets this effect. Basically every single one of their songs has a click track only they hear and that click track is linked up with the backing tracks if they need them and the effect changing for vocals, drums etc, basically they have linked the click track to cubase and have that send a midi signal out to his whammy pedal to trigger it when it is in the right places at the right time, so everything's sinked up
The computer controls it via midi. The triplets at 1:45 can't be done by foot on the Whammy pedal (believe me I've tried and tried). He would've written the pattern in during production rehearsals, and used it for the tour. :) (You can do it in Logic, or most decent computer programs).
Yeh i thought that as well, that he cant play it without a pedal. But if u listen it sounds different, i realised that they could be using a midi sequencer (similar to Map of the Problematique) to control his pedal, so the pitch it always perfect at the right time. As for the kaoss pad, i assume that Morgan plays them on his KP3 and Kaossilator
Was this the intro to the show? If so, this would be a GREAT song to start the show off with. Heck, I'd think this would be a great song LIVE! It's just that epic!
That is true there's a lot of backing track. At least Morgan is doing some of the parts live, and the rest of the orchestra/choir seems like an automated synth track instead of a full backing track.
Take a bow indeed - Superb work there! I was there both nights and Saturday was by far the better gig. Any chance you can squeeze in Sunburn from Friday?
I would say it's a preset loop of effects timed to switch at the correct beat. I guess even Matt can't maneuver between all those effects while playing a live gig :)
Its timed up on the xy midi controller. I think he does this so he can kinda jam out instead of having to sit there on the whammy and stand still the whole time focusing on it
nope its a computer program sending midi data to his whammy. there's finally authentic covers starting to surface on youtube as people have written matching midi files and tabs to play this.
The angle that's facing the band head-on from the front, like at 2:39, is out of sync. Just something you might want to clear up if you're doing the full edit. Anyways looking forward to more stuff from the tour. Your editing skills for these videos have really improved since you made the RAH one.
I have no problem with Muse using a backing track, obviously it's annoying to bring a whole orchestra around on tour + sticking Matt to a whammy pedal but imo a vocoder would be awesome!
I can't understand how Matt does all these modulation effects in dubstep part. In studio, he used Whammy. But there's no Whammy on the stage. I can see he doesen't use KAOSS Pad. So, how?
I was on the front row in front of Matt's Mic for this night and the first night in London. The crowd sang his part. It was just incredible .

Epic song, I don't care if that is dubstep or something like that. Muse song never have such as great intro like this
saw this in Tampa last night- brilliant- what a great show these excellent musicians put on!!
I wanna flag this as inappropriate so the UA-cam admins have to watch it. Great track!
Ctm nunca habia visto este tema en vivo, sensacional, increible, Muse lo maximo
Whilst the vid is not Actually them live its pieced together superbly. When Muse opened in Glasgow 2012 they opened with this and it was epic!!!!
Dom the beast Howard!!, His technique is amazing!
Mate. you do one hell of a job with this montages.
If you're not earning a living out of it you should be.
You sense of timing is impeccable.
My sister went to this gig. i've never been more jealous of anyone in my life i swear
Can't wait to see them live!
Awesome consert yesterday in Helsinki TY!

Que gran calidad de vídeo, esta tan bueno que debiera ser algo así como un especial de video oficial :D
Awesome video, thanks! Such a great show :)
thanks for this :) and for showing dom's drumming at 2:55 i love that bit
Rockstep? Badasstep? Kickasstep? Musestep? Awestep? Absolutleyamazingandtruevisionariesofmusicstep?
they probably just use backing tracks and sequences for it. it was like 100 percent spot on w/ recording.

Yes this is their concert intro.

most pwoper comment yet! ;) cheers!
Trust me, right at the front we were singing at the top of our lungs.
Glad to see you back after a while-time TAKEABOW19LIVE :DDDDD
Aweeeessoooooommmeeee!!!!!!!! :D \o/, I love the lighting!!! XD haha. You're awesome!!! :)
Great :)
Nice editing job as usual!
Takeabow19Live is my hero
wee wee wee boo
All the effects are controlled via midi in case anyone's wondering
OH. MY. GOD ! O_o

Awesome. Are you planning on doing the other gigs (Or part of gigs) from the tour?
Would be super cool to get the 26th O2! (Especially Sunburn! :D)
i think the set goes smoother when they play isolated first and unsustainable last just my opinion
2:55 - 3:07 Dom doing his best job
I wish (so hard) he would sing the vocals part
Was this the intro to the show? If so, this would be a GREAT song to start the show off with. Heck, I'd think this would be a great song LIVE! It's just that epic!
at 2:20 - Thump up if you thought Matt should have sang that part.
O: FUCK YEAH!! lml
That is true there's a lot of backing track. At least Morgan is doing some of the parts live, and the rest of the orchestra/choir seems like an automated synth track instead of a full backing track.

Been there,it was awesome on the day! Bit flat compared to wembley 2007 :P
I would say it's a preset loop of effects timed to switch at the correct beat.

when I heard this live I was like... *fuck...*
Matt is so hot
takeabow is back :D
I dont like songs like Madness, Follow me and this one.. But i gotta say that at their concert i Could appreciate them..
The XY midipad can control the whammy pedal.
Status Custom 5 String Bass.
Apparently, I just checked musewiki.
My recording at 2:55 :D
It might be some of the effects are easily achieved without having the pedal...
seeing in the extra's on 2nd Law... it does involve quite a lot
nope its a computer program sending midi data to his whammy. there's finally authentic covers starting to surface on youtube as people have written matching midi files and tabs to play this.
A lot of artists these days get a tech do to it for them.
I know that dimebag had it done back in the day with his whammy.
Whammy is off-stage in the rack, but even then he has no way of controlling it from where he was.
The angle that's facing the band head-on from the front, like at 2:39, is out of sync. Just something you might want to clear up if you're doing the full edit.

no dislike.should be

1:43 pacman
Is it possible if he controling the whammy using molten midi? Like the MOTP one
Not matt only..chris too
i swear some of that is pro shot
I can't understand how Matt does all these modulation effects in dubstep part. In studio, he used Whammy. But there's no Whammy on the stage. I can see he doesen't use KAOSS Pad. So, how?
where is the hidden link?
Probably done with midi, or one of the guitar techs, or perhaps morgan?
Fair enough, my bad.
I dont wanna be "That guy" and i'm a huge muse fan, but i'm pretty sure he might be air guitaring 90 percent of this over some other audio.
SWEG
geat...aslole....hahah
why matt does not sing?
What do you mean it's not them live? They're playing the song live
Who's controlling the whammying for the guitar?
He did, its just really faint, bad recording i guess. try headphones.
What the heck kind of bass is chris playing?
By stalking him.
Crowd looks static! where are the pits, jumping and other muse craziness that i'm used to?
No he didn't. He was no were near a microphone anywhere during this song
That's actually not that bad when performed live.
Haha he obviously isn't part of the illuminati I have no doubt about that whatsoever
Skillessx didn't like the video.
