As a Chinese, I was quite surprised to see Chery seems like doing a very good job offshore, since now China's domestic market are quite dominated by Chinese EVs and Hybrids with more intelligent cabin, so I went to dig a little bit, holy molly, they exported 100% more than domestic sales.
@@dr.andersonsghost4315Chery is one of those legacy makers who compete with foreign brand. They can not really compete with Japanese brands for now on petro cars so… not really hot in domestic market
Thanks mat for the video, we just bought our tiggo 8 from watching this video, so far it been a great car only done 700km, tiggo drives great and has everything you need , keep up the great work you guys
My friends have theirs for almost a year now and 40,000kms. They drive a lot. It has been amazing. Not a single issue or recall issue. Whereas my family had a Toyota that's on its second recall item and that cut out once due to faulty fuel sender units. The Tiggo 8 is my favourite car at the moment.
Love the review. Given that now we are getting more and more Chinese branded car, would love to have you guys review/address the after sale service and the long term servicablity even in the case the brand pull out of Australia. Of course it's hard to say, but with your inside knowledge and relationship with these brands, hopefully we can get some assurance. Because if these Chinese brands can overcome this final point, I dont see they have any competitor.
This is a key point that is being overlooked in these reviews. It's left to the potential customer as a nasty suprise if there aren't local service centres or availability of spares. Even transmission fluid is difficult to find for some of these new brands. Time will tell if things improve (they usually do).

I’m considering upgrading from my 2021 VW T-Cross and have looked at both the Toyota Fortuner 2.4 GD-6 4X4 AT and the Tiggo 8 Pro Max Executive 7DCT 2.0TDGI AWD MY23. While both seem like great options, I’m curious to hear your thoughts. Which one would you recommend between the two? And by the way I loved this review and might’ve just added extra points to the Cherry.
I bought one of these awd versions based on this review. I've come from a 80K amg hatchback...I freaking love my Chery haha it is absolute bang for buck!
This or a Xtrail? I would choose this,I can see where my money is going unlike the Nissan. Yeah it doesnt have the hybrid but that hybrid doesnt help much anyway.
The legacy manufacturers must be shitting themselves. Great review. Looks like a combination of an Audi and Toyota. It would be perfect if they added a plug in hybrid option.
@@aarons6935 I’ve seen the purple at the dealer and it’s not as purple as you’d think , it kind of has a brown tinge to it , it actually looked like a dark brown in the shade , I changed angles into the light and I saw the slight purple colour , very nice
When are you going to do a review for 2024 Toyota Land Cruiser Prado? I asking this cause I had that you are receiving it with the same specs as us here in South Africa.
It’s quiet inside, thanks a lot to the cooper tyres and heaps of soft touch materials. It’s not S class levels, but certainly at least middle-to-high in the pack
It runs a Magna wet clutch DCT that seems to be reasonably reliable. I drove one and unfortunately the low speed smoothness of this DCT is not great. This is not a sports car and would benefit from a torque converter auto.
Don't understand why manufacturers put dual clutches in commuter cars. Works okay in hybrids thanks to torque filling and the hybrid start stop assist but this isn't that and a torque converter will always be smoother.
The latest 8at gearbox installed in the tiggo 8l is the latest gearbox product developed and manufactured by Chery. It has been proven reliable in models launched in China for two years. It may be installed on the jaecoo j8 next year and launched in Australia. The DHT gearbox technology and performance used in Chery PHEV models are also very powerful, and the experience is better than that of 8AT products. I hope it can also be launched in Australia.
$30k off-the-lot for a 3-row SUV with this many features is insane in the US, this thing can be sold at $35k msrp and I'm sure there will still be a waiting list and some markup

Good products at an even better price. Their old products sucked, they withdrew and fixed a lot, and it’s showing in their new stuff!

The fortuner has less tech, more power and no sunroof.
