      @@hotichor it is super smooth. Part of it is because it writes like a broad tip. I believe it may be a 1.0 tip. I like the style.

    The cap should have been magnetic to help it stay in place. Especially if an average person who bought this is willing to use everyday in a high pressure environment or on the field the cap might just pop off one day.
    Another concern is the clip not being integrated in the body. I would have it rather on the cap or built in the body so that there is less moving pieces and it wouldn't make a mark in its lifetime.
    Though it would be fun to have a pen that "lasts forever" as a bragging right.
    This is basically the pen for an apocalypse prep.

      Some of us write all day. Retired now, but in real life (unlike tv), police write reports ( plus a quick sketch if necessary) all shift … and most are 2 pages or more each. I still have my refillable space pens and most are 30 yrs old & only on a second refill. They do last for certain.

    If Fisher put a couple of threads on the top that would keep the cap secure when posted.

    Frankly, I am surprised this doesn't get more exposure in the world of EDC [Every Day Carry]. A pen that won't run out of ink, AND has all of the features of a space pen; it truly is the last pen you will ever NEED. (Everything beyond it is just for fun.)

    I wouldn't get this pen, personally. I'm likely to damage a tip eventually (have already gone through one when I dropped it onto a driveway and damaged the ball), and unlike a regular pen that's a $7 cartridge to replace the tip, this would require replacing the whole pen.

    The cap falling off when posted is a problem for me. If I write for a while and then talk with my hands or bring the pen back from the writing position it shoots off. I had it rolling on the ground a few times. Great pen, but not sure why it can’t have the same tight fit as when you cap it.

    • @lukeshepherd9529
      @lukeshepherd9529 8 місяців тому +1

      I noticed that OHTO pens have a perfect soft close tight fitting cap. I looked inside to work out why and to my surprise on the inside of the cap circling around is a single piece of regular Sellotape. Doing this trick seems to permanently solve the issue with any caps falling off.

  • @MrAndrew1953
    @MrAndrew1953 3 роки тому +5

    Very impressive pen which I'll add to the collection soon. Body looks thicker and I like the clip. I like the clip at the top so I guess I'd hang onto the cap. Surprised it doesn't have a twist set up for the nib to disappear into the body when not in use, even if the pen had to be a bit longer.

  • @jpolar394

    For the price you paid for that pen, I can get 3 AG-7s and at least I can put in a fine point cartridge. Fisher should sell an insurance policy with that pen in case of it being lost or stolen. I've been keeping a eye on Fishers price over the 6 years and it's getting to the point where the average person won't be able to afford them. Hey, I support made in the U.S.A. but come on. I'm still waiting for over a year for a answer from them on why their flashlight pen is made in China. Thanks for your time and effort for posting.

    Got one about 15 years ago still writes ok its not great but good for a ballpoint, the length of the pen is a bit short the main reason I don't use it all the time. I hope one day they could make one which was standard length I wouldn't hesitate to get another.

    I was gifted one recently (name inscribed , blue ink) and I wish this was around before I retired. I hand wrote reports all day and would definitely have run this pen through the paces. Used the regular space pens all the time because they write in any weather and on wet or dry paper, upside down, are hella sturdy, etc. Plus the refills lasted for a few years. Would have definitely sprang for the cost.
    Good review 👍

    Hi. New Subscriber from the Sierra NV.
    Wow, TFS👍 your Fisher Space Pen Infinium. A nice, dressy pen! Qs: How is it now? I hope the gold coating hasn't faded in some spots. Is the cap still tight or has it loosened over time?... the clip too? Can it be monogrammed or not?
    Many thanks!

  • @TinyIslandMaine

    I’m curious if you take the clip off, will it allow more space so the cap post more securely?
    Also, if you move the clip to the end, for better gripping, you could possibly slide the cap onto / into the clip to reduce the chances of losing it / rolling away.

  • @Noumenon4Idolatry
    @Noumenon4Idolatry 7 місяців тому

    I like to put the clip on the cap. That way it doesn’t roll away, and the cap goes on the top of the pen when I write instead of sitting in the middle in my hand.
    Well, I do that with my smaller fisher bullet pens. I don’t have an infinium pen. I assume it would work the same way.
