I love the idea that the current big bad was stopped or at least sufficiently stalled by Aizen, the previous big bad. Their mutual antagonism is so funny. Gives me TWD Negan vibes.
I remember seeing a reaction mentioning how Aizen was one of their favorite villains of all time because he’s such a problem that even the new big bad has to account for him
Ain't no way I get pseudo-spoiled on Negan the day after I watch the episode where he gets name dropped. After I took maybe half a year break from the walking dead.
I just want to say, both episode 6 and episode 7 were made with some of the top Pierrot talent working inside their studios right now ( episodio 6 was entirely animation directed by Yamashita, one of the best animators alive right now, that also animated the Getsuga Tensho of Ichigo in ep.1, and longtime Naruto animator and director for most of the best fights of Naruto!)
One more thing to note. In terms of the nostalgia, the remixed soundtrack with new things incorporated is just cathartic. The synergy is just there on it's face. The most recent mix of "Nothing Can Be Explained" is fucking beautiful.
Honestly, this is how you carry on a show/bring it back and keep it modern without falling for nostalgia bait. Incredible work! Just a shame that so many won't experience this magical new season of Bleach due to never watching Bleach originally, which just makes it way better that the animators and studio in general just went crazy with the work without a huge audience to witness it.

That's exactly what happened to Jojo Stone Ocean, back when Golden Wind was airing weekly, the anticipation of what would happen (to new watchers) and how things would be adapted (to people who read the manga) was amazing. With Stone Ocean, no one i knew (outside of the Jojo Facebook/Reddit community) was talking about it, the hype just died down so quickly it was sad.
The fact that the tropey tragic rain happens immediately after Yamamoto's defeat, but that it's perfectly explained by the disappearence of his bankai that previously made all the water in Seireitei evaporate, is meta-narrative at its finest XD
9:40 “This episode solidifies that this era of Bleach will not cater to the idea that good prevails.” This is even more evident once you learn of YHWACH’s motivations and the true nature of the Soul Society and its great sins.
I love this point because it pulls you in for another thought: if soul society's sin gives you life, after-life and a cicle of souls, and the quincy's "justice" is the chaos of pre-separation world, then who is right? And does right means good? Or doing things for the sake of the greater good?
Was not expecting a video on Bleach but I’m all here for it! Also I want to talk about a bit more about Byakuya. Not only was he one of the most dangerous characters of the 13 Court Guard Squads, he represented its pride as a whole. Byakuya is one of the most prideful characters ever right next to the likes of Vegeta. He is one of the most stoic characters in the series. Willing to kill family members and friends without hesitation or even tears because of his pride of upholding the law and rules for Soul Reapers. And this man, representing the pride of the entirety of the Soul Reapers, cries and begs Ichigo, a living person, to defend the afterlife and his home. When Yamamoto died, the power and hope of the Soul Society went with him. But it was when Byakuya cried and begged, that the pride of the Soul Society was truly defeated.
I never understood how people complained that unexpected things keep happening so casually in the TYBW and then they say it's bad writing, we've seen this happen alot of times in full metal alchemist, attack on titan, hunter x hunter, naruto one piece and so much more, the only flaw the TYBW has, is the ending, it just needs to be fleshed out alot in my opinion, also can't wait for the hell arc in the future
My main hope is that the final battle and epilogue are improved, as they felt rushed. In particular the final battle didn't feel as satisfying as I'd have liked it, so I hope it gets some more love in the anime.
I disagree. The first half of the manga material was good. But the latter half had reveals and plot points that were bad writing. For example, we saw Zanpaktou spirits before. We know they look unique. By showing that Ichigo Zanpaktou's power was his hallow spirit all along makes no sense. The idea is good but it grits at established facts. Him having two zanpaktou's later is also odd. I get that one is from Quincy's powers imitating the shinigami ones, but that isn't convincing. Power scaling also got beyond manageable. This god's territory that I never like in anime. The Toushiro flowers really are just a girls' fanservice. And the ending... But the frists sub arcs were done splendidly.
Yamamoto embodies the idea of a Shinigami in the sense we fear. A literal god of death whose mere presence when his bankai is released can destroy a realm and burn everything to ash. He is death in the sense we irrationally fear.
I need you to cover the "everything but the rain" sub arc when it finishes. it provides so much context and backstory while weaving in emotional beats and I find it hard to express what I love about it because I am just crap at storytelling. It is better than "turn back the pendulum" imo, and anime only watchers will be treated to some of bleach's best writing in the short parts before, during, and after the flashback.
This video sums up those episodes perfect! Its rare we get such spectacular epsiode its anime but these two where incredible. It pains me most of my anime friends are younger and never watched bleach and so arnt watching this now 😔
I can't agree more with this. And since these episodes came out, they've upped things even more. I too also read the entirety of the manga and know what's going to happen. BUT -- the pacing they've chosen with this anime REALLY shows how well Kubo has been at crafting a sort of mystery box show, and it's incredibly satisfying to see it distilled down into something REALLY well done.
Bleach has been amazing so far! like dude I hate waiting for mondays now lol its just a beautiful and one of the best adaptations ive seen from a shonen

Bro the zuko vs Azula fight gives me chills STILL by just seeing it. The color contrast and music of that scene just perfectly depict the weight of what’s finally happening on screen.
Saint Seiya had a very similar situation when the last animated arc aired, The Hades Chapter, over a decade after the original series aired. Incredibly improved visuals alongside the nostalgia and continuing the story with higher stakes than ever.
I hope that Bleach doesnt suffer like Saint Seiya Hades chapter. Saint Seiya Hades chapter first third was a total masterpiece then it dropped in quality in the Inferno chapter and Elysium chapter.

I was sooo hyped when I heard they are finally adapting the last arc of bleach and like you I experience the story a second time, having read the manga, but forgot about a lot of details. It's crazy how invested I am after just the first 13 episodes , even though I know how the story ends!

I think the strength of TYBW is that it's an arc that's being adapted WAY after everyone's read it and digested it. It's not a 1-1 adaptation of the manga as much as it's a re-creation of the same events. We get a few extra scenes here or there to add to the emotional storytelling, we get some great new depictions of different abilities or interactions to add more weight to them. This adaptation also does what the original often failed to do, imo, which is capture Kubo's love of negative visual space for emphasis. Kubo LOVES the use of negative space to create really striking scenes of scale and flow. The original anime often just used the same fucking coloring style as One Piece or Naruto or DBZ, but TYBW is really laying into how blacks and whites are used in Kubo scenes to emphasize singular points of interest
I am a...casual? fan of Bleach (my first shōnen was DBZ, and Cowboy Bebop is what showed me how amazing anime can be) and I didn't start watching it until they were already doing the Fullbring arc. Great video by the way. We all love #BLEACH and it truly does bring a tear to my eye to get to feel these type of emotions in general towards the series once again.
I'd argue that the last THREE episodes were pretty much perfect tbh. Byakuya vs As Nodt and Yamamoto appearing on the scene in Episode 5 was amazingly well done.
After episode 6 everyone was saying it's the greatest Bleach but I knew from previous videos (I never read the manga just watched the OG anime) that there was gonna be bigger and better scenes even tho this was Yamamoto finally letting loose, then 7 happened. Someone on here said that 6 was a masterclass in animation and 7 was a masterclass in emotional driven narrative. I cried, I screamed at my TV cause Yhwach is a BITCH!!!!!, I got hyped af when the Akon opens the doorway for Ichigo to come thru, and the battle at the end of 7 was just epic animation another god tier example smh
Bleach TYBW really Kicks ass ^_^ Also the last Episode "nothing but the Rain" was wonderfull, Seing this scene animated (I've read the last Arc ~4 years ago) with the wonderfull fire-animations (again) and the badass middle-finger Shot were magnificent
literally every episode of SKH has been perfection. (i've seen a lot of anime. not as much as you, probably.) well, almost. certainly the best animation i've ever seen. and it's been consistent. Studio Pierrot got one hell of a budget increase
I swear these episodes are beyond amazing... i really think they are 20/10!! as a big bleach fan its just blowing my mind in so many ways... but there is one observation i would like to do... everything in all episodes till now has been pretty much on POINT except the breaking or ending points of some battles... im going to even make a comparison... of how yamamoto could ressemble to jiraiya(naruto) and how big of a deal he was in soul society... and everything goes by so fast you dont really have the time to feel bad about him... i think they could really get into more details with thoes losing battle/deaths... beyond that... its really GOOOOOOODDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD
Unexpected surprise to see you talking about Bleach. But much appreciated. I can't put into words how much I didn't want to watch these last few episodes, because I remember how literally shattered I was back then when Senbonzakura shatters. So my emotional investment is there and it was glorious and it threw me for a loop … *AGAIN* Yeah, thanks guys, for ripping my old wounds open to bleed all over, once more 😭😅
Did you ever read the Golden Compass series? Or watched the HBO series? I was a fan on the books all throughout my childhood; I’m in my late 30s now and still reread them at least once a year. Philip Pullman did such an amazing job with structure, relatability, and the right amount of alliteration. The entire series is grounded so heavily in mystery and fantasy, which is something the show failed to capture. It took the wonder and amazement the books built up and put it in a cage. The third season is incredible though; it truly captures the sorrow and loneliness the books show. Their new writing team is killing it. It made me so angry that I’ve been turning a sci-fi concept I have into a tv show and have pitched it a couple times already. Your videos have truly transformed and helped the way I look at things as a script writer. I’m an engineering technical writer right now, and it goes back to my favorite saying: a system is a system is a system. TV is such an incredible narrative tool and it’s been amazing learning so much.
I had to do a double-take when I saw this video. Like, who the heck is this talking about my favourite shōnen, why did they show up in my feed, and why is their name so familiar? But then I checked your videos and realized that I'd been watching them for years-I think it started with a Game of Thrones video-and enjoying your dissection of writing and story telling technique. I had no idea you were a Bleach fan.
This was an excellent breakdown of Bleach’s episodes! I have to ask, where did that OST come from at 8:22 and onward? That was a nice somber piece while explaining things. EDIT: The ost is from The Promised Neverland, someone else found it!
I honestly want them to change some of the later episodes and battles, so that there's more legitimacy to Yhwachs powers and defeat and I believe they will do that right
I remember back in the 00s where Naruto, One PIece and Bleach there the top three manga young boys read when they got home. Overall the 'save the girl plot' got tired Bleach were leagues above its contemporaries in design and style.

but you KNEW what goes into shikai and bankai. Where other bleach grifters won't know or don't. So I'm happy. Great content
Great video by the way. We all love #BLEACH and it truly does bring a tear to my eye to get to feel these type of emotions in general towards the series once again.
Ay love to see you covering Bleach, the anime has been dropping banger after banger and I can't wait to see how it keeps going.
Honey, you’ve got a big storm comin! This arc only gets better with each revelation and step forward!!
Excellent explanation -very poetic too
Let’s go bleach, is the best out of the big three
Now I have a reason to pick this series up. Thank you :)
Dude I didnt even think of that. Yamamoto is the "Dad" that's why shunshi even said that to Robert. Tekking101 said that on his Bankast with jaymes
I think this anime will serve as the ultimate example of Seasonal vs Weekly
Excellent writing!
Idk. This new season is up there in terms of presentation. I can’t think of a lot that just STOMPS it. It’s excellent.
I was expecting a Bleach video from you, I really saw it late ❤️👍🔥
I like how you had code geass and death note in the intro best story's hands down
I'd argue that the last THREE episodes were pretty much perfect tbh.
Bleach TYBW really Kicks ass ^_^
Also the last Episode "nothing but the Rain" was wonderfull, Seing this scene animated (I've read the last Arc ~4 years ago) with the wonderfull fire-animations (again) and the badass middle-finger Shot were magnificent
literally every episode of SKH has been perfection. (i've seen a lot of anime. not as much as you, probably.)
well, almost. certainly the best animation i've ever seen. and it's been consistent.
One of the best Ep ever.. Up there with Ep 19 Demon Slayer... Ep 3 Madoka ...Etc..
the only thing i remembered about bleach was ichigos backstory on how he was made
This Bleach season is crazy good
10 bucks there be a 3rd near perfect episode before this cour ends ( the Kenpachi one )
Bleach is a masterpiece
TYBW is the DMC5 of anime. expectations, exceeded.
Dude I love your work
Great video.
I wish I could get back into Bleach, but it's been so long for me.
that moment when i realized that the anime that i watched during my teens is the childhood anime to some people....damn i feel old
Great video my guy
Unexpected surprise to see you talking about Bleach. But much appreciated.
I can't put into words how much I didn't want to watch these last few episodes, because I remember how literally shattered I was back then when Senbonzakura shatters. So my emotional investment is there and it was glorious and it threw me for a loop … *AGAIN*
Yeah, thanks guys, for ripping my old wounds open to bleed all over, once more 😭😅
Great video and analysis
As Nodt Isn't "some random Quincy".
This was an excellent breakdown of Bleach’s episodes!
I have to ask, where did that OST come from at 8:22 and onward? That was a nice somber piece while explaining things.
EDIT: The ost is from The Promised Neverland, someone else found it!
Lets hope we get to see "the almighty" animated.
I honestly want them to change some of the later episodes and battles, so that there's more legitimacy to Yhwachs powers and defeat and I believe they will do that right
Top tier art in shonen, what a beautiful show
Wow I'm so early. Love your videos they've helped improve my writing so much. ❤️✨
Yamamoto still holding back during his fight with Yhwach.
I remember back in the 00s where Naruto, One PIece and Bleach there the top three manga young boys read when they got home. Overall the 'save the girl plot' got tired Bleach were leagues above its contemporaries in design and style.
When I saw Yamajis death in the manga the first time my jaw dropped because at that moment, I knew we were all stepping into uncharted territory.
Wait. New Bleach?! Hell yeah!
Sorry, man, I'll watch this after I watch the new episodes:)
Well ur probably in for a treat lol
