After the disappearance of the founding principle or principal of these great traditions, it took less than 5 minutes for zealous followers to devolve the originating illumination and orientation into human morality, human fundamentalism, human literalism, human sentimentality, and human rationality. Today we ask, where is the depth?
Affluent members of the human species are now guiding us in consuming and entertaining ourselves to death. Our screen-driven, self-absorbed, externally-oriented, consciousness remains tantalized at the most superficial level attainable. The deep wisdom of the East and the West and the practitioners of disciplined consciousness are needed more than ever. The great depth traditions of the East and West need the insights of one another if they are to renew themselves and serve a complex contemporary world.
The cinematic art forms of Interior Mythos Journeys are born in the vortex at the confluence of the deep currents of East and West. It is the mission of Interior Mythos Journeys to deliver these timeless, universal, and changeless depth messages to this present moment.

Our Mission: The curriculum of Interior Mythos Journeys is a quest to explore contemporary mythic language that is in harmony with the 21st Century, Global, Quantum Scientific, and Universal Reality in which we all actually live. Learn more at interiormythos.com/
As we solitarily and collectively claim the force of a relevant contemporary mythos, we are delivered to the possibility of life-lived-in-depth, the possibility of authentic life. This is the path beneath the surface.
The Transformative Encounter: The Practice of Contemplation
In the current age this transformative encounter, as well as the practices that deliver us to this encounter and the personal connection that flows from this encounter, is seldom the focus of our lives. Many of us wander disoriented through life, often on a self-destructive path, in a world seen, understood, and measured primarily by the external environment. We are disconnected from the Connecting Myth. We are disconnected from the interior depth to which the Connecting Myth might deliver us. Ironically, we have come to understand myth as a lie rather than a symbolic and metaphoric gateway to a deeper truth.

I think what most in reality seek is perfect " Zen". That is the mind craves for the suffering of the changes in life to stop. But the truth... That is reality. Is that permanence can never happen. The world and life is impermanent and in total flux. Craveing for Zen, is the basic in spirituality. The craveing for clarity, peace, bliss.
Then the irony is that this craveing creates suffering. The brilliance of Dogens teaching is that, if we focus on sitting instead of craveing enlightenment. Then our suffering of the craveings will lessen.

@Ikaros23 why would you ever sit? If not again for enlightenment? If you sit not for enlightenment then what's the point of even sitting or speaking about it? You could more easily just eat and live your life, no? And speaking about ozumura, what he says doesn't make sense. Why he became monk? It's obvious there is in him a super strong deside to get enlightenment. Otherwise nobody would make such an Important step in his life

Tionblack, do you realize that ADHD is your special gift from Reality? The only help you need is the practice of learning to live as the ADHD-gifted human being you are. Life is a funny thing and we all have our special gifts that, in the first instance, we wish we didn’t have or believe the universe made a mistake in giving a specific gift to us. The only journey that can truly heal any of us is the journey into a personal and deep relationship with Reality; which heals all things! We are grateful you have discovered this special channel. We hope you will return often. Please consider a sustained encounter with The Life Journey series on the home page of the Interior Mythos Journeys UA-cam channel. It provides a sequential, guided, experiential path for the contemporary contemplative practitioner; one who practices encountering Reality. You will discover this dynamic profoundly in Life Journey #7 - The Ultimate Journey. Check it out and keep in touch! GO Deep!

Tionblack, Abbott Shohaku Okumura of the Sanshin Zen Community in Bloomington, Indiana USA is a meaningful voice and teacher appearing on the Interior Mythos UA-cam Channel. You can also find other material and lectures by him on UA-cam. He has retired this year from formal duties with the Sanshin Zen Community and we do not believe he is personally available for individual instruction. You can certainly submit an inquiry through the Sanshin website: www.sanshinji.org. The Interior Mythos Journeys team will always respond to your specific inquiries on this channel. The Life Journey series we recommended you consider encountering does hold the essence of much of Abbott Okumura’s guidance in a sequential method over 69 short video messages. We recommend encountering one module per week and interiorly dialoguing with the message throughout the week of living your specific daily life prior to going to the next module in the series. Please also see the response to the second part of your question.

Tionblack, for self-discovery, we strongly recommend the Life Journey series. We know of no better sequential path existing in our contemporary world. We are not concerned at all about the use or non-use of medication in supporting one’s personal journey-of-depth. In your own most-personal dialogue and communion/communication with Reality, it will become clear when such “aids” are helpful or not helpful; needed or no-longer-needed. There is not an absolute answer for the circuitous path of a life. The sadness and the interior hurricane are not unique to you. These come with the package of living an awake life. Remember, Principle #1 articulated by the Buddha: Life is suffering! How this suffering manifests from one individual to another may vary but the underlying reality is universal. Yet if you pursue the deep journey, you will discover at new levels, it is a Friendly Hurricane! Don’t be in too much of a hurry with your practice of meditation or deep interior inquiry. Let the path come to you. It will. GO Deep!
