Back when music was music....the Tubes still perform today with many of the original band members. Love this song! Fee is one of the best front men in the business!
After seeing them last night in San Francisco at The Masonic opening for The B-52s, The Tubes still have it. Fee brings new meaning to The Greatest Showman and still grabs your attention with both his voice and flamboyance in selling a song with this great band. Wonderful to see this performance in San Francisco nearly 40 years before to bookend the experiences.
The tunes of the 80's are the best of any era except maybe the 50's. I was in the Army when this was king.Yes , I'm old but I know great music when I hear it.Rap/hip hop was the death of music. How sad.
I was 30 years old and 83. We had so much fun. Everybody laughed and smiled and we were just dancing and in the bars all the time. The chicks were the hottest and the best ever. No cell phones no computers just eyeball to eyeball with great people and good times. No DEI no ding dong Democrats and no entitlement. Life was good. Great memories!
All of the musicians in the are praised, but the unsung hero is Rick Anderson (the bassist) who just kills it everytime and cements the all thing and make it sound great!
My friends brother, Vince Welnick, was their keyboard guy and also was the last keyboard player for the Grateful Dead till Jerry Garcia died. He later took his own life which added to the curse of the Dead's keyboard players.
Saw Fee explain the backstory to “She’s a Beauty” and how producer David Foster brought in Steve Lukather (of Toto fame) to write a song with Fee on the first album David produced for them. David, Steve, and Fee met at the studio and the result was their hit “Talk To Ya Later.” The next album he did the same thing and Fee and Steve wrote “She’s a Beauty.” Even though these were huge hits, the rest of the band was disgruntled because these songs were already finished without them and they simply had to learn them after the fact. The next album they had a chance to work with David Foster again, but even though Fee wanted to, this time the rest of the band refused. So they “fired” Foster, went back to their old producer, and had no more hits. Fee eventually left the band.
Very original sound....and solid musicians..I think they were ahead of their time...and did not get a chance to shine in the commercial cookie cutter world of music!
yumha38 Very true. Unfortunately, their cookie cutter/mainstream sound was very limited. They hit a creative wall and the studio loaned Toto to them in order to help them complete Outside Inside so they could fulfill their contract. From what I’ve heard, nearly every song on that album has Steve Lukather’s finger print on it..... basically Toto with Fee Waybill on vocals. The rest of the Tubes learned to play the songs during the final mix and in time for the tour to promote the album.
@@justincase1445 Well, sort of. Lukather/Foster/Waybill came in early before the rest of the band and completely created/wrote/recorded The Tubes two biggest hits. Talk To Ya Later and She's a Beauty. According to Lukather's book, that was the only playing he did on the two albums on which those songs appear. David Foster probably had a heavier hand and involvement in their mainstream success than any other single person.

I was at this show. It was my senior year of high school. I just remember how amazing they sounded, their harmonies and those guitars!
