I do enjoy these sherlock Holmes adaptions very much , These shows which were done at NY cities radio city musical hall , really feel as though they werent done all that long ago , it's hard to believe that they came out 48 yrs ago to start 1974 thru 1981 or 1982 at the latest , close to 2,000 radio shows were recorded perhaps closer to 1,500 it still blows me away , at the time being a boy scout from 1974 thru 1977 ,1978
Everytime we would go on a camping trip leaving on friday night , We would listen to these on the way to the camp site , since those trips I always thought about these shows , being 11,12 13,14, yrs old I always made a point of riding with the one father who would play these going to the camp sites , It was a great way to start a weekend camping trip , I only listened to roughly 6 or 7 of this back then , I never forgot the beginning of each show back then , and was quite pleased to stumble on these all these yrs later , Not to sound prudish along with being a boy scout but I do find it interesting that after watch so many movies with so much colorful language its interesting to come across these without a single curse word aside from one episode called the "Damned thing" which is quite a freaky story and its understood why it's called "the damned thing" one of the scarier stories I've heard , I'm grateful to have these to listen to as my wife sleeps , We have a small bed in our room along with our big bed so I'll jump in the little bed and listen so the light from my phone doesnt bother her , It took me alot of words just to say , (its the little things) I never thought at 58 yrs old I be listening to CBS Radio mystery theater. It's a cool way to entertain myself while she sleeps , Thank you for sharing these

Thank you Chilly , you were the one who reconnected me with these and since you presented these others started broadcasting these along with other old time radio shows but these are the best

Thanks for sharing, Pete. My brother and I started listening to these radio shows when I was 8 and he was 10 back in '74. I would listen begrudgingly, but learned to love them. He always loved them. Bad memories for me sometimes. He later passed away at age 47 in 2011. He would always talk about how cool if someone would ever reproduce these shows. I found them by googling them maybe 4 years ago. He would have loved listening to them again. It's been a great way to sort of reconnect the thought of him, of us, listening to them back 46 years ago. Then I found them on you tube a year or so ago. Your right Pete, the opening and closing of the show are unmistakable with E.G. Marshall for the first several years.

Nicely done. Kevin mccarthy sounds like basil rathbone at times here. Thanks chilly. These plays keep me calm at night.

Yes, I've listened to this one at least 3 times and was thinking the same thing that McCarthy sounds like Rathbone.

I loved reading Sherlock Holmes stories as a teen before these CBSRMT episodes were broadcast, so naturally these were particularly enjoyable back then and still today, 7/15/2022, as I listened once again.

These are awesome to listen to while falling asleep. It’s crazy before internet and a bunch of movies we had radio stories like this from digital antiquity. The artwork on all of these is really cool too.

Whether doing housework or crafting fishing leadrers (can't work on my book due to mental distraction) I enjoy these great radio mysteries! Thank you Chilly!

For those interested, there are about 1,400 of these. Here's the link to the CBS Mystery Theatre. (pardon my Canadian spelling!) Enjoy! www.cbsrmt.com/synopsis.html

Great Show . I have had lots of time to practise my meditation , study of Theosophy., , practice , and exploring my inner Self ;- yes , that Great Titan { The Higher Self} who resides in all of us. These stories somehow gives me inspiration to do more writing of just fiction once in a while.
