@@pyro791I think Cohen bears responsibility on this. He left his wallet open, handing out these huge contracts and basically buying talent without a regard for market price. Pete’s been watching him throw out the cash, and now he’s wanting his payday with unrealistic demands because Mets owner is giving out unrealistic contracts.
Pete Alonzo does NOT have a market outside of the Mets. Why this high AAV? Are the Mets negotiating with themselves? The only thing that makes sense is the Mets will offer a contract to Pete that will save him some face. It's a good-will move.
@@petercullen2196 does no one know how to spell anymore. Don’t you have autocorrect? Pete belongs with Mets he will get a fair deal. Thanks for being so interested
If Alonso signs, they have to move him to DH, he's a lousy 1B. An infield with Alonso and Vientos as your bookends could pose a real challenge to any groundball pitcher.
@@fr2ncm9 Pete has limited range but his defensive war numbers don't tell the whole story because they don't count scoops. He is the best first baseman in the league in scooping the ball so he saves a lot of throws. He does struggle with throws to 2nd base but otherwise makes the play for any ball he gets to. Vientos' also is somewhat limited in range but also makes the play if he gets to the ball and has a strong accurate arm. Both of them have bat skills that far outweigh any range issues on the defensive end.
Pete is not a lousy first-baseman...in fact, he's a little above-average. But, as a right-handed 1st baseman with a below-average arm, he has trouble with pulling off a 3-4-3 or a 3-6-3 double-play. Fact is that none of the power-hitting 1st baseman are great defensive players.
@ nobody gonna place a bid that’s just gonna get matched but Mets. They were always the team gonna get him so why drive market up for no reason. You’re right 100 rbi and 30 homers is trash. Go root for the Phillies bro
I think Pete should get 5/120. He’s worth it and it’s not an overpay. Bet he takes it if offered by Mets. Come on stearns I see where you’re coming from but we love Pete bring it home. Under 30 and give him five.
Paul Goldschmidt, an all-star 1B and a much better hitter than Alonso, saw his numbers start to fall at 35. Alonso has had two subpar seasons in a row. Only a fool would offer him that kind of deal.
@ like the fool that signs a 35 year old to play first base. Goldy hasn’t been amazing in a few seasons. And Pete is a machine. We don’t want him on your team anyway! LFGM

You need Will on this channel, permanently. He's fantastic
Record AAV? After his worst year? With no other offers?
I’m a Mets fan and a Pete fan….hes not getting a high aav contract…..he’ll get good money but it’ll be around 25-30/year.

Some of these pitchers are worried. Pitchers report February 10th. Yikes
Still plenty of time for most players, it’s the big time FA that have been holding out that are feeling the heat as they lose leverage every day
You can just hear the cigarette smoke come out of Todds mouth.
What does that even mean?
