I was born early 80s but I remember TGIF on Friday nights. After the last show we would race to our rooms and cover our heads bc unsolved mysteries would come on ... and many times it was haunted houses and things. 🤣🤣🤣
You guys crack me up. I died laughing when Cam said he got hit in the eye with a dirt clod. I was going into 8th grade and my parents were having our house built. There were huge dirt clods. My older sister pegged one at my little sister and hit her in the mouth. She was crying and spitting out mud.
Anyone remember the little, square music players that would play Christmas music in the Electronic, CD section during the holidays? You had to click one of the 12 or so squares of different songs by different artists and sometimes the buttons wouldn't work or you would have to push on it really strong, and us kids would just click away while our parents were trying to find a CD 🤣
You guys forgot to talk about all the awesome sitcoms and the 'ridiculous' movies of the 90s, and a culture that allowed you to be a kid til your were an adult.. Kids grow up way too fast now, and far too sexual!
Here in the UK during our summer holidays, we would be out playing on the street having water fights, throwing water balloons between the cars :D...also I am now 34 and had been planning my 30th for many years previously , we went to laser tag which was awesome because it was themed as Barney Stinsons famous quote, "suit Up" (from how i met your mother). Handed a disposal camera to the guy who worked there for a group picture annnnd he had no idea what to do with it...I didn`t feel old until that moment >
LEGENDS OF THE HIDDEN TEMPLE! ahhh, Chris said "how do we get to Delaware?" I live in DE!! NO ONE MENTIONS Delaware! Lol My dad STILL uses a map. Encyclopedias!! Or FYE!! And they lyrics were on the inside of the cover!! MANHUNT!! (Night games) *67 is to block your number. *69 is to recall the last number that called you. Oooo!! What about when the landline phone would ring and you and your sibling(s) would say, "I got it!!" I still remember my childhoods phone numbers. I had different ways of remembering numbers. My childhood landline is still active too!! Oh!!! Remember watching the local news in the morning when your school is closed (they showed it in alphabetical order) and if you missed it, then you had to wait until it showed it again! OMFG, MY SON SAYS, "IM SO BORED" TOO, WHILE HES ACTUALLY DOING SOMETHING!!🤣 Omg, I JUST thought of that game on New Girl, RIGHT before Austin said it!!!! The Carrot Top "collect" commercials. My kids still say, "I want that for Christmas!" Toy commercials are nowhere near as frequent as they were back then. Y'all had street lights? Haha I didn't come inside until my mom yelled at me to come inside. I always said "its not dark yet", hanging onto what little sunlight I had... Also, we had a lot of oak trees in our yard, so we had a lot of acorns and I used to make "acorn soup", which, basically, my sister and I collected as many acorns as we could, put them in a wagon, filled it with water until they floated just a little, and stir it with a stick. I also used to climb trees, climb on top of the aluminum swing set that we had. Also, Gak, skip-it, pogs/slammers, the pop rocks/soda myth...roller skating rinks and all the games theyd play there. Dial-up...if someone called, it knocked you offline. You couldn't use the internet if someone was on the phone or vice versa. Ugh, I MISS the 90s SO DANG MUCH.
My family usually did pizza during the Sunday Wonderful World of Disney movie, and it was the only time we were allowed to eat dinner in the family room instead of at the table. :)
I love this one!!! As a child born in late 1988 I grew up in the 90s mostly as well. Imagination, especially with my brother was so important. I created a batman cave for his toys out of a cardboard box. We created a boardgame based on Saved by the Bell for ourselves. And having shows like Mr. Dressup, Fred Penner's Place and Under the Umbrella Tree were all about using your imagination, music, creating crafts and characters, ect. Those were children's shows that were on the slower side so you could be "bored" and realized it was time to use your imagination. Thank you guys for reminding (or teaching younger people) about life in the 90s and what has changed.
I'm going to agree. I remember leaving my house on my bike and ended up finding my friends at the house with the most bikes. Just be home when it starts to get dark. I would be an 80s kid that grew up in the middle of nowhere ND
Have any of you guys heard of Land of the Lost, or Sigmund and the Sea Monsters? HR Puffinstuff? LOL...The Banana Splits? The Hair Bear Bunch? Ya...I'm a bit older than you guys
Great episode guys! The nostalgia is too the max, love it! My parents still have a land line as well😆plus remember getting a gateway computer (I was so young i called it a getaway) and the noise of dialing up the internet!🤣
I think payphones should still be a thing at airports, malls, truck stops and other remote or busy places because phones die people forget chargers I used to work at a gas station and people would get out of the car with just their wallet keys locked in the car and a payphone would be perfect even if they modernized them for cash and cards but still should be in existence
Congratulations to zach for the all clear of cancer 👏🏻❤️ love this podcast i am from 1986 and i can totally relate to the things you guys talks about 😆😜 i do Think that when we were kids we had more imaginations. When i was a kid i use my bike and me and my friends used our bikes as horses 😆 i loved and still love horses but thinking back i can see that this just was silly. And cam yes i do remember that there was so many good tv things to see from friday to sunday 👍🏻☺️
growing up in the 70's, Mom went shopping, but not before dropping off the kids at the park. The park had a 2-foot wall made with rocks that outlined the park, With 4 places, that you could just walk or go out. In the park, it had all the fun swings, monkey bars, slides, and what I called the "guilder rider". The ride that lots of kids get on and another kid started pushing it around as we yelled 'go faster, faster!! " The mom would tell their kid to stay in the park and we did. There was an old man who would be at the park sitting on a bench that we were all told to stay away from because he didn't like kids. The park was a babysitter for moms back then
I’m only 24, but our elementary school was like Zach’s. We had a separate playground for kindergarten through third grade than for the fourth and fifth graders. The big kid’s playground had the exact kind if slide Zach talked about too. If I didn’t live on the opposite side of the country then I’d wonder if our school was the same lol.
I remember I was speaking to a student about the singer Usher, amongst others like Ne-Yo, Kanye West, etc. and she had no idea who I was speaking of. I was like 😲 we were 10 years or less apart, I felt so old.
As a Walmart Associate (of approximately 12 yrs), speaking for myself, I didn’t know what to do with myself not having to go to work on Thanksgiving last year. First time in 12 years I was able to have Thanksgiving actually on Thanksgiving day! Due to my schedule, the family would always plan to celebrate on different days...but not last year!
When Zach is talking about that party and the camera and says they got the principal involved, all I could think was they brought the pic to the office and said "Have you seen these pricks?" 😆
I used to develop film at Walmart and I can't believe some of the photos that have burned my corneas it's like omg I would be so embarrassed for someone else to see this. Shockingly a lot of the most risqué photos came from the amish. We weren't allowed to "develop" nonfamily friendly pictures.
I'm a decade older than y'all. I was 3 when the 80s started. There's so much that I wish our children could've had the opportunity to do and survive (lol)❤❤❤
I LOVED The original spyro (ik probably not your guys thing) but I spent hours on that. After the new Playstations came out we couldn't afford a new game system so we were left with the original (the best in my opinion) but i got my husband a used PS4 (after the ps5 came out because it was to expensive) for his birthday and that's what we still use today. But I digress my mom got me the other 2 spyro after I hot this new console, and I beat them within two months perfectly (I hate not getting everything it make my innards itch hence why I was never a gamer). My hubby got me the original that works with the system we have and I tried so many times spent multiple days throwing up, because the graphics on the high def Tvs made me sick once we got one of the older tvs I played that game over and over and beat every level when i had time. It was great! I always lived in the country and had a problem making friends so most of what your talking about wasn't big for me until I was a senior in 2010. You guys are amazing and I am so glad I found a new podcast to listen to 💙.
10:38 I could not agree more when it comes to kids these days being soft. I grew up falling off stuff. I would get splinters, scrapes, cuts, all that. My dad would tell me “Are you dying?” I would tell him “no”. He would tell say “Then you’re fine. You’ll live.” I feel like our mentality and bodies are tough compared to kids these days.
Cancer Sucks! Had no clue! Happy you are cancer free Zac! ❤ My school was like Zach's with the playgrounds too! Also don't believe a teacher can't ever put their hands on you!! That's no right... no matter what! Hopefully you were exaggerating that part!
I can just see you guys with your wives..."the floor is LAVA NOOOOO!!!" AHHH memories... such a good game.
LMAO!! 26:45 Cameron about the TV warming up! Ooooh man I'm rollin! I remember doing that too!
Fantastic news! Congratulations Zach for beating cancer!!! The podcast is a highlight to my week - thank you all! :) x x x
I was born in the 70s and was an 80s child. But I still loved the 90s.
Congratulations Zach!

Congratulations Zach on beating cancer..great podcast as always..love it

Yes this was I wish they would have mentioned as well

Zack we are so happy for you. Awesome news!
Love the podcast listen every week. Zach so glad you got the all clear 🙂
Double Dare was hosted by Marc Summers (not Nick Cannon). That was the one with all the slime and messy games.
Glad to hear you are well, Zack!!!!

I love old story style, life experience, lessons learned and shared, dreams for the future or current events podcasts

Fraggle Rock!
It would be really cool to see a photo of how you all looked in the 90's

You guys should watch relative race! It’s on BYU TV! They have to navigate with only a map

Dude. Skip it was my jam as a kid. I miss all of the super fun super soakers and fun toys
YESSSS, I LOOOOOVED skip-it. I mentioned it in my comment too lol
Sock 'em boppers.
Yay!!!! So glad Zach is cancer free now!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! YAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAY
Recently discovered you all and I am so happy!! Also, love the ADTR shirt Tony!!! One of my fave bands!

I love 💕 when you guys go over the 90s here. This is cool when you guys have this discussion

My daughter who is 12, didn’t know what the handle was to manually roll down car windows.
When I worked at a drug store that developed photos it was up to the person developing the film if they wanted to or not.
I think society has become so litigious, all the fun has been sucked out of everything.
When Zach is talking about that party and the camera and says they got the principal involved, all I could think was they brought the pic to the office and said "Have you seen these pricks?" 😆
Reminds me of the movie "grease" when the 3 guys mooned the cameras🤣
I used to develop film at Walmart and I can't believe some of the photos that have burned my corneas it's like omg I would be so embarrassed for someone else to see this. Shockingly a lot of the most risqué photos came from the amish. We weren't allowed to "develop" nonfamily friendly pictures.
It's sad that kids can't play outside unsupervised anymore...man I was gone right after cereal and cartoons until it was almost dark!
I'm a decade older than y'all. I was 3 when the 80s started. There's so much that I wish our children could've had the opportunity to do and survive (lol)❤❤❤
I went to a school that had (and still has) separate playgrounds too pre-K~kindergarten 1-4 4-6 playgrounds too I’m only 22 🤣
So glad that Zach is cancer free!

90s were the best !!
I feel really old now at the start if the 90's I was going out to night clubs
Congratulations zach!!!
We still have an Atlas and they ARE still made. Most toys now are electronic from what I see.
Can I throw this in you pod cast as a discussion. Talk about Princes Diana
The media will report what they want but the small stories that they think people won’t care about are the ones we have to worry about
Im so curious, what is Corral Tag?
Kids may be soft now but whose fault is that? Who do they learn from? Parents? Hmmmmm 🥱
Hints of political views. 👍
