When is it safe to go in i got a little 8ft Intex can u go in while its working
Sure.
To avoid having too much stabilizer in the pool due to these pucks, I only use about 2 in the floater and a scoop of un-stabilized super shock every 3 days or so to the water. works great and been doing this ever since my salt gen broke and don't feel like spending another 1400 dollars to replace it. Funny, I never even told my wife or kids that the salt gen broke and have been doing this way they could not even tell the difference.
That's a great idea. Or I guess you could also use liquid chlorine instead of the shock. However with either of these options you do have to add chlorine more often and for most pool service people we only come to the pools we service once a week so that's typically why we accept the trade off of the small increases over time of CYA for the convenience and only once a week need for the tablets.
@@PoolSchooler I agree not for a pool service company but for the typical homeowner. Doing what I said and once a week add in poolperfect phosfree and in 13 years have never had an algea problem.
How often do you use a bag of pool shock? They recommend once a week but is that necessary if you use the tablets?
Kelsey Whitfield Wow! Once a week is way too much. Truth is, as long as you keep you chemistry balanced with tablets and maintain your ph and alkalinity you should ONLY need to use shock to supplement if your pool gets heavy use ie: a lot of people in it at one time. But I would NEVER recommend using shock every week. It’s too much AND shock uses binders to make it into granular form and those binders are usually minerals like calcium which can increase the minerals in your pool water (making it “harder” water) and that can lead to leaving a mineral line at your water line and can create the formation of mineral lumps (kinda like stalagmites) on the plaster.
Use tablets weekly to keep your chlorine levels in the ideal range and ONLY use shock supplementally IF NEEDED.
I like using liquid chlorine for shock because it doesn’t have stabilizer in it and cyurnaric acid doesn’t build up ....
Total agree.
Amazing video. I have a quick question for you. I just got an intex 18×9×52 I am new to this whole pool stuff. We just filled the pool up. How many tablets of chlorine should I put in? Since the water is never been treated I like to know in addition, how long should I keep the chlorine tablets in the pool and when its safe for the kids to go in the pool. Really appreciate your support.

I always fill it up to the top, regardless of season. It's not like the tablets will dissolve faster in the winter, so for people "on the go", just always keep it topped off.
I bought 3 inch tablet but my dispenser is 2 inch Walmart will not exchange them because I opened the lid can I cut the tablets in half I l8ve on ontario thank you

@@PoolSchooler thank you.
I see a lot of people telling others not to use this or that and to only use this type of chemical or that type of chemical. There are far too many variables to try and do what everyone else is doing. Test your water and adjust accordingly. I live in Northeastern Wisconsin and my pool requires very little as far as acids or ph adjustments. I am only running it off of chlorine tablets and a one step tablet for ph and alkalinity and I am having zero issues with ph fluctuations, excessive alkalinity, or issues with too little or too much chlorine. I use no algacides and no stabilizers. My water is Crystal clear. I vacuum it and rinse my filter every other day. Again, zero issues. So what works for someone else may not work for you in your climate or specific conditions.
I agree I have a pool by a stupid tree but I keep the pool cover when not in use. I can see the leaves when i get ready to take it off which helps to catch bird droppings as well
There is stabilizer in the tablets. It will build up over the years. And rinse filter every other day? Jeese that's alot. I hope it's not a sand filter.
Thank you 😊

Which is better for residental pools a floater or inline chlorinator?
Both have their pros and cons. The in-line chlorinators, which are considered “erosion style“ only introduced chlorine into the pool water when the pump motor is running. But, one of the nice things about in-line chlorinators is that they keep the chlorine tablets out of the pool and inaccessible to children who might, otherwise possibly attempted to tamper with the floating chlorinator. Floating chlorinator are much cheaper and they allow the chlorine to constantly be introduced into the pool water since they’re in the water 24/7. One potential drawback to the in-line chlorinator is that they are subject to the effects of the corrosiveness of the chlorine and I’ve seen them as they get older get pretty gummed up. Also in Line chlorinators are a lot more involved when it comes to installing them.
Yea..only use tablets..over stabilize the pool and chlorine lock..tablets are supposed to be used as a suppliment for a pool..using liquid chlorine should be the main thing to use..its good for the pool to have that jolt of chlorine..keeps algea and black algea away..unlike salt systems and tablets
CalcifyRL I like what you say. But in Arizona Tablets are the industry standard. Not sure why but it’s been that way since I’ve been doing pools which started 19 years ago. I’m thinking it’s because our extremely dry and high heat causes such rapid evaporation of chemicals it would take numerous visits by a pool person per week to stay up with liquid chlorine et and quite frankly most people out here just don’t to pay for multiple visits per week.
But I do appreciate the comment.
About chlorine tablets, I bought a folating chlorine dispenser and looking to buy 1" tablets. Another thing that greatly affects the frequency of how many tablets you have to put in the dispenser a week, is the size of the pool, itself. My pool has about only 1,000 gallons of water. If that's the case, is just one 1" tablet a week good enough to provide sufficient chlorine to the pool and kill all algae, bacteria, viruses, and parasites in my pool water?
You can start with one tablet a week, but test your water weekly and adjust accordingly. ALSO, to prevent algae you need to keep your phosphate low. Watch my video on Algae and Algaecides: ua-cam.com/video/MzGoK4Cd7tc/v-deo.html
After putting in the tablets, how long do I have to wait before swimming?
No wait. You can swim with the tablets in.
I have about 4,500 gallons in my pool how many chlorine tablets should i put in my pool

Hi I just set up my 15ft 42 inch pool and bought pool essential brand chlorine tabs , but they look huge im not sure how much to put can you please please help me out?
Thanks for the comment. I did a video on how many tablets to use in your pool that should be helpful. Here's a link: ua-cam.com/video/3BiVsHHNaS8/v-deo.html
We have an above ground pool. It's our first one ever. I am so confused on what to do with it. We just filled it today (well water), it's a bit green. I shocked it tonight and I'm going to let that filter overnight. I also have the tablets in a floaty thing as well. I've got test strips and I plan on testing the water in the morning. I have two questions. Should we swim in it tomorrow if the water is still a bit green? If I add liquid chlorine, how long after I add it should we wait to swim?
I'd suggest testing the water before swimming. If the levels are in the ideal ranges AND NOT EXTREMELY HIGH it should be safe to swim in. (even if it's a little green - remember swimming in ponds? I do and creeks. No problem).
I'd suggest watching my video on Algae and Algaecides and Why You Don't Need Them: ua-cam.com/video/MzGoK4Cd7tc/v-deo.html
And "How I Cleared My Green Pool": ua-cam.com/video/XY-BAdBY0zI/v-deo.html
One other thing about above ground pools. Most of the filters and pumps they come with are small and ineffective for the pool and its use. You may want to consider upgrading to an after market above ground cartridge filter system from either Hayward or Pentair. both of those are really good.
Pool School Thanks for replying! The water is clear this morning. Everything came back in the ok range on the test strips except the hardness. I guess that's to be expected with the well water.
Rachel Hawkins good to hear. And you’re right. Nothing to really be done about the hardness of the water.

Hello. Analysis of my water reveals total chlorine at 10. Obviously too high. I shocked it with 2 lbs of Clorox shock. I had my chlorine to tablet dispenser in the pool while I added the shock. Should I take the dispenser out so my chlorine level may go down? Thanks.
Hey so when it comes down to it, most tablets are cya and not so much chlorine. If your Cl levels are high, just play the waiting game.
I want to know which is the best way to put chlorine granules in the pool deslove it in water and pour around the pool or put in the weir
Typically you can just disperse them around the perimeter of your pool (WITH THE PUMP MOTIR RUNNING) and that should be fine. Unless you have a painted surface pool in which case you may want to be careful to not let the granules settle on in or it could slightly bleach it.
When your adding 4-5 tablets to a pool every week how do you keep your CYA from getting so high since tabs have built in stabilizer
In Arizona it doesn't increase as rapidly as I'm discovering it happens with tablets in other states. It may be because we have such fast evaporation out here due the dry HOT climate the water is diluting and adding fresh water every day (to the tune of 1/2-1" of fresh water every day. So that's the only thing I can think of.
Calcium Hypochlorite tablets are not stabilized like dichlor and trichlor - Cal Hypo won't raise your CYA.
If I use tri-tri tablets in my floater, is it okay to use calcium hypo granules when I shock?
Certainly. But I do prefer the trichlor granuel shock to the cal hypo. Or better yet, simply use a gallon of liquid chlorine. Watch my video on Pool Shock and Why I Don't Use It. Here's a link: ua-cam.com/video/tpyyMNqRqi0/v-deo.html
Awesome stuff!
I've got a Bestway above ground pool with an the chlorine dispenser at the end of the outflow.
The problem is that it only takes 1" tablets and in my area I can only buy 3" tablets.
How can I break up a 3" tablet without making a mess?
Hard to do that without making a mess. Have you considered just not using the chlorine dispenser and just getting a floating tablet dispenser like the one in my video and just using that? Nothing says you have to use the dispenser that came with the pool.
What brand of chlorine tablets do you use? What brand do you use for the floating dispenser?
I made this video in response to your first question on they type of chlorine tablets I use. I hope it helps. ua-cam.com/video/8FS6u2nBz_A/v-deo.html
the more tablets are dissolves... really raises your cya? which in turn affect the chlorine stamina ?
Basically yes, but in my opinion the amount of CYA the tablets add to the pool is a fair trade off for the convenience of using them.
For how long do you leave it in? Until your levels are okay or until the tablets are disolved?
In Arizona the floater stays in the pool 24/7 and we check the chlorine levels once a week and add tablets as needed. That's one of the good things about the floater as it's more convenient cause you don't have to keep taking it out and putting it back in so you get a slow constant erosion of the tablets to keep the chlorine levels in the ideal range.
Hi i have the floater I use. Chlorine tablets.i bought ph tablets can I use this by just tossing in pool? Is it safe to use with chlorine tablets?
I've not heard of or had experience with pH tablets. So it'd be hard to comment accurately. Sorry.
So we just leave the tablets floating in there while we're in the pool swimming is safe also and that floating container or do we have to remove the container every time we get into the pool
It't totally ok to do and safe as long as kids don't start playing with it or opening it up. If you don't want to have to deal with that then you can most certainly take it out when they're swimming just MAKE SURE YOU PUT IT BACK WHEN THEY'RE DONE
Hi, Ive been watching your video. We just install above the ground pool. We are sa new with this. Do you have the pump filter going while dissolving tablet?
How long does one tablet dissolve?
Thanks in advance ❤
They dissolve slowly over about a week or so. You don't need to run the pump if you use a floater (to dissolve the tablet).
My water turns green quickly does tgis mean i to little chlorine?
Not necessary. Just use a tester to test your chlorine and it’s good you’re good. As long as your filter is running properly your skimmer and pump baskets are clean and your filter media is clean test your chlorine levels, actually you should test your chemistry once a week. But if all those things are good and then the big reason for a pool turning green is phosphates. Watch my video on algae and algicides and why you don’t need them. Get a good phosphate remover like PR 10,000 following instructions based on the size of your pool and that should do the trick
How often do I put the 2-5 tabs in???
That depends on your pools chemistry. You should be checking it once a week. Here's a link to my video on testing your pool water: ua-cam.com/video/lhhuuWsRGBk/v-deo.html
How many really depends on your pool. For instance, in the peak swim season in Arizona I usually use between 4 and 5 tablets in most of my client's pools (they're typical play pools approx 12-15000 gallons). That's with regular use. Then in the off season I may use as little as one tablet a month.
But it really depends on use, climate, evaporation etc. Weekly testing will help you get a handle on your pools specific "character" and you'll find the right amount.
What do you recommend to use when pool water gets cloudy ?
Maria Mendez it really does depend. There are several reasons or combinations of reasons your pool water gets cloudy. I’m doing a video on this very subject this weekend so stay tuned and look for it on my channel by Sunday.
Fantastic video. Question - my pool guy puts the tablet in my skimmer basket - is this a good solution, or should I get a float?
When should you test the pool? I've just put a tablet in my tiny little paddling pool, its about 6 foot long 🤣 but was wondering when i should check the levels
I tell people to test their water weekly (same day each week) and add chemicals accordingly. If you just put in a tablet it may take awhile for it to show up on the test strips especially if you don't have a filter/pump. Usually. with a pool that short maybe try using a cup of liquid chlorine so it can dissolve and disperse more quickly. You'll have to test and add more often if you do that tho.
@@PoolSchooler thank you for getting back to me so quickly. First time using chlorine but we are having such a run of hot weather (from the UK) that its never been out for so many months in row!
How long can you keep the pucks in the water?
Teresa Vitorino I never take the tablets out. The tablet floaters I use have adjustable “ports” openings that can allow you to adjust the “erosion” of the tablets to some degree. Also the amount of tablets you put in the “floater” will also affect the chlorine level. Each pool is slightly different due to use and environment. You may have to experiment with the amount of tablets you use and how much you open the ports.
Thanks
Good idea with the tongs, I’m always fussing with my gloves while opening and closing the container. Will be getting some dollar store tongs.
hello i have a question? i bought a Rectangular Inflatable Family Pool, 105.91 * 69.60 * 20.08。i don't want to let the water out every time after playing. if you put this in the pool does that mean you don't have to switch to new water and it turns clean, the next day and you could keep on playing.
Unfortunately without a pump and filter you can't keep the water clear for very long. So the chemicals really wouldn't help much so I can't really recommend doing that.
oh okay, thank you, then i'm not going to buy it.
Great video
Della Wolters thanks so much.
Just bought a house with a pool with no knowledge of cleaning it thanks for the vid

Help...my tablets are not dissolving. I am using the tablets that I use for the inflatable hotub. They are by Chlorox. Maybe they are not big enough. Also, does it make a difference if the cover is over the pool?
Lee Morgan on two answers. First tablets not dissolving. I’m not familiar with chlorox Tablets. Are they specifically for pools? I would recommend 3” Tablets made by a reputable pool chemical manufacturer such as Pool Logic. Related to this issue make sure your ph/alkalinity is correct. I’m guessing they may be high and your pool needs Acid BUT TEST THE CHEMISTRY BEFORE ADDING ANYTHING.
Second pool covers. What type of cover (solar?) and what state do you live in? I’d need more info on the to suggest. BUT I will say I’m not a fan of pool covers in typically warm climates.
I use Clorox brand as well, and work the best in my opinion. I started out using 1 weekly but as I experimented with ph & testing. I need at least 2 in at a time. I check my ph a couple times a week. I also use Clorox blue spa & shock (1/2 pack about every 2 weeks), plus I bought a water clarifier from Leslie's last year. I use that as needed (MAYBE once a month).
I HAVE LEARNED CHECK YOUR PH OFTEN! MY 1st year I wasted alot of money on supplies because I didn't know what to do. I went to Leslie's and a manager gave me lots of info & also suggested products!
So this year I replaced manufacturers pump with sand pump filter! It does most of the work! Do your research & everything will work out!
Pool School. Cholorine level is 0/0 we added tablets but still the same. how long will it take to get the chlorine to get back u to where it needs to be or what do u recommend we should do. thank u
vfastv locust that really depends on the outside air temp and how much the pool is being used. Also the age of the water can be a factor. If it’s older than say 7 years you may want to look into draining and refilling your pool BUT WAIT TIL YOU MAXIMUM AIR TEMP STAYS BELOW 80 DEGREES.
Generally when you have such low chlorine readings you need to get chlorine into your pool quickly. I would suggest picking up about 4 to 6 gallons of liquid chlorine (you can get them in 2 gallon packs at Walmart usually) and add it to you pool all at once ( maybe start with 4 gallons and check it in a couple house then add the other two if needed) MAKE SURE NO ONE GOES SWIMMING FOR AT LEAST 8-10 HOURS AFTER ADDING IT. This should get your chlorine levels up and then you’ll be able to maintain those levels using tablets in your floater.
Keep your tablet floater filled with tablets.
Hope that helps.
Im house/ pool sitting, & haven't figured out how to open that tablet bucket. Any videos showing how?
I haven’t done any videos on that topic. Mainly because there are several different types of chlorine tablet buckets and they each have their own little way of being tamper resistant. If you email me a picture I’d be happy to help you. kennypoolschool@gmail.com
Silly question but im just starting out as well as being a brand new pool owner. So when I fill my pool up for the first time I plan to add a full pack of the Clorox pool shock let the filter run for a couple hours and then test the water with the 6-way strips that I purchased. I did not buy any other chemicals for my pool besides that. I have a Coleman Vista 18 ft round pool. I plan to upgrade to a sand filter eventually. Is there anything else I would need to add to my pool when I set it up tomorrow or is this a good start?
christine camm yes. Before you put anything in it test the Chemestry. Then add as needed. Usuallly a start up or new fill needs chlorine and then adjusting the ph and Alkalinity (see my video on that). And you’ll need some cyanuric Acid or cya (also called conditioner or stabilize). I’d suggest 1 lb of that to start. Let it disperse throughout the pool then test and add more if needed. Cya allows your pool water to hold chlorine.
I’ll be doing a video on chems for new water soon. Stay tuned.
Can u still swim while d floater is in the pool?
Absolutely. BUT you want to make sure kids don't play with it.
I appreciate d reply.

vampesque riches in a pool that size I’d suggest maybe 2 or 3 as needed. But testing the water is the best way to know how much or how little. It takes a little time to know your pools needs but 2 or 3 to start should be good then adjust as you test weekly.
I have the same pool and the floater with 3 mini tabs inside and I just cant seem to keep the chlorine levels up. I'm in the high desert SoCal so it's hot! I have to add granules every morning. I've added more tablets to the floater to see if that helps (theres 6 mini tabs now) so we'll see if that works or if I'm doomed to adding granules daily.
Fabian Navarro you may have low cya levels (or high) have those tested. Low or high cya levels can cause your water to not hold chlorine. (Cya is cyanuric Acid. Also called stabilizer or conditioner.
Great videos, extremely educational. Thank you. However, I'm a little confused on one issue. In this video you say you're not a fan of liquid chlorine except in cases where you need to raise chlorine levels quickly, but in another one of your videos you say that you prefer liquid chlorine over chlorine tablets because all tablets are mineral based and add to your CYA levels. You say that if you have to use a tablet, then use a tri-chlor tablet which is calcium free. So my question is: Which is better to use, liquid chlorine or chlorine tablets?
Actually to clarify I say that liquid chlorine is the purest for residential pools and would be preferred IF you didn't mind testing and adding daily.
So if you don't mind (and can) test and add daily, then liquid chlorine is the way to go for sure. But for most and especially once a week pool service peeps like me, we can't pull that off as we only visit each pool once a week.
Also I hope you'll check out my website poolschooler.com for more exclusive great DIY Pool Maintenance tips and tools
What about the forums that talk about not using 3inch tablets because of the amount of CYA they add. I'm nervous to use the big bucket of them I just bought. Do you test CYA on your route? Are the statements proven to be true?
Mike Mulligan I can only share what I’ve learned for my area in Arizona. Most all the oool guys out here use the 3 inch tablets as I do because they are more convenient and since we usually service a pool once a week the chlorine doesn’t evaporate as quickly as liquid chlorine does. And I test cya every six months. And honestly the cya levels in my clients pools doesn’t raise very quickly. Almost unnoticeable in a year. That is my experience.
@@PoolSchooler I get that. So here in NJ I only have the pool open late May to late September so I should be ok. I run the pump 24-7 with an inline chlorinator. Would it be better to have the chlorinator set to wide open, halfway, 3 quarters, etc?
Mike Mulligan it really depends on the demand and use of the pool. I’d recommend texting the chemicals every 2 to 3 days til you see what your setting produces.
How many chlorine tablets do I need for my 10x30 pool I have been using 1 inch tablets 2 at a time to start out please let me know also how often does the filter need to be on in the day can you swim with it on???

You should never have to shock a pool as long as youre keeping up on your pool's chemistry especially the chlorine. You may want to watch this video where I explain about Shock and why I don't use it.. much: ua-cam.com/video/tpyyMNqRqi0/v-deo.html
Hey, I just got a 30 x 10 quick set up pool with the inflateable ring around the top. I bought a floater and 3" tablets before I realized my filter pump had a place for the 1" tablets. Seeing as I already bought the floater and 3" tablets, can I just use that, or should I use the 1" tablets for the pump?
KLU 01 you can absolutely use what you bought. Just keep an eye on your chemistry and you’ll be fine. 👍
@@PoolSchooler thank you!!!! Also, if I wanted to use the pump for chlorine dispersal, could I break the 3 inch tablets into chunks and throw them in the pump? As they are to big to fit as a whole tablet? I started thinking that theoretically, using the pump, instead of a floater would better mix the chemicals into the water, since there is the forced water emulsion, and its mid-water level, so the chlorine wont just stay on the top
KLU 01 I wouldn’t make a habit of doing it that way. The chlorine is a bit too harsh going directly into the equipment like that. Occasionally it’s ok to do it that way but I’d recommend getting a floating Tablet holder.
The chlorine tablets directly in your pump will ruin it.
I have one inch tablets And a 6,450 gallon pool , how many tablets do I put in
I'm not sure, I don't work with one inch tablets except for the 1 inch bromine tablets for a client's spa(bromine's fumes are not as harsh). I think it you play with the amounts (maybe how full you fill your floater) each week you'll be able to get a feel for how much you need. Sorry I can't be of more help.
My pool is a 42x14 how many chlorine tablets should I use
This video should help. Here's a link: ua-cam.com/video/3BiVsHHNaS8/v-deo.html
Can you still get in the pool after adding the tables in pool?
Absolutely. The tablet floater can stay in the pool 24/7. Unless you're concerned that a child may tamper with the floater then I'd suggest removing it while they're swimming. BUT put it back when they're done.
Is there a difference between chlorine stabiliser and chlorine tablets..?
Absolutely! Chlorine stabilizer (also called conditioner) is Cyanic Acid or CYA. It's what helps the water molecules hold onto Chlorine.
Chlorine tablets are usually labeled as "stabilied chlorine tablets" and that just means that some of the binders they use to hold the tablet together are cyanuric acid (or stabilizer).
Can you put the dispenser in the skimmer? Cause they fit in there.
I guess if you don't want it visible you could. I have a pool that the floater always ends up in the opening. BUT if you do know that it'll probably erode the tablets much quicker because it'll have all that suction flow of water going by it any time the pump runs.
Ever since I switch over to using tablets on my route some pools got some algae. Any reason why it would do this. Didn’t really have this problem with liquid chlorine
Jose Neto usually if you’re getting more algae and your chlorine levels are good the other reasons for algae are filtration(not enough filter Run time or filter needs cleaning etc) or flow issues. I’m doing a series on algae and algacydes. There’s only a few reasons for algae and I’ll address them in that video but The number one cause beyond fill Traciann and low chemistry, for LJ, phosphates. You might want to check the pool for phosphates and consider adding a phosphate remover such as PR 10,000
Jose Neto stick to liquid chlorine, tablets ruin pools in large amounts
Is 0.11ppm chlorine a very low level to use liquid chlorine?
Yeah that's pretty low.
Normal chlorine range is 1-4 ppm, so 0.11 ppm is very low. I'd goose the chlorine stat with some powdered or liquid chlorine then put your floaters in.
@@davidho2977 Actually it's 1-5 ppm. I did a video on start up chemicals and how to add them which I cover what you said here.
Do you have to take this out when you shock the pool?
I have same question. Thanks
No. You should never take the tablet floater out of your pool. MAYBE you can take it out if you have a bunch of rowdy kids (or adults) in the pool and don't want anyone jumping on it. BUT MAKE SURE YOU GET IT BACK INTO YOUR POOL AS SOON AS THE PARTY'S OVER. Too many times people forget to put it back and then a few days later their pool is green or cloudy or both.
Mary Ann O'Connell so the floater stays with the kids playing
How do you open the actual box.
Ruhaan Sahni do mean the lid of the tablet bucket? It’s just a screw off top with a child safety tap that has to be depressed to turn the lid. The tablet floater you just twist the lid off. Pretty easy.
I have question. I used a similar dispenser.
I added 2 tablets in there and put in pool. But i see the tablets did not dissolve . They have been sitting in it for 5 days and didnt dissolve. Any idea why is that happening? Thanks
Make sure the "ports" are open on the bottom sides of the floater. Also check your ph and alkalinity. They may be high and in which case you may need to add some acid to your pool. They've not dissolved at all? (or is it just slow).
Hi, how much chlorine tablets do I have to put inside of 32x16x52 intex pool?
It depends on what your chlorine levels are,, how hot it is, how much the pool is used, how many openings in your tablet floater and how open they are. It’s a bit of trial and error. But over time you’ll know what your pool needs for each season.
Normally 5000 gallons per tablet in summer
Can you swim with the chlorine tablets inside the pool?
Daniel Bull Runner Lamb you can.
@@PoolSchooler thanks
I just put 1 in and wait for it to dissolve
Oops, I guess I shouldn't have used my bare hands to put the chlorine puck in my floater. People like me are why warning labels are made 😄
No worries. I did that for nearly 14 years before my friend suggested I try "salad tongs" 😉😂👍
@@PoolSchooleraw
@@PoolSchooler Ah, man. I’ve been handling these with my hands the whole time. 😬
@@DontNeedToKnow84 I used to also. Until a good friend suggested using salad tongs. It was a "duh" moment for me. But I've been using salad tongs from the dollar store ever since. 👍
@@PoolSchooler It’s a great idea! I just don’t know how practical that’d be when you’re hustling trying to get a ton of pool routes done. That extra 10 or so seconds adds up over a day. But, then again, it may be warranted given the health risks.
Anyhow, I’ll try it out and see. Thanks for the recommendation!
this is Big Kahuna pools of Bakersfield California I watch these videos all the time with people with rubber gloves and tongs and sometimes they have violins they played at the tried to tell you that the song is the best for your pool I don't have a video and I don't need a video I have a 187 customers and they all love me this is what I do every week to all my pools I always check the chlorine a pH level with liquid drips only don't use test strips you're not reliable 2 I put three tablets in the floater 3 I add or subtract to the pH
Was it bad that I broke one of the table and throw it in that pool
GAMING W/MINECRAFT LEE 1 not really but I wouldn’t just put it in the pool so it settles on the bottom. Chlorine is corrosive and it can damage the plaster of your pool if it has direct contact like that. Maybe put it in the skimmer.
Pool School ok thanks let me take it out thanks agian
Sodium bicarbonate is not dangerous. It's baking soda
Wait, did I say that Sodium Bicarb was dangerous in the video?
What dollar store? Im in Phoenix too.
James Hill it’s called the 99 cent store.
But many dollar stores carry them. They’re just basically serving tongs.
hello,i have a problem in pool, there are a lot of mosquito in pool ,and i cant kill them, how i kill the mosquitos?
Mosquitos are usually a seasonal thing. Chlorine should kill both the larvae and mosquitos. So make sure you have plenty of chlorine in your pool (maybe during mosquito season keep the chlorine at the high side of the ideal range).
@@PoolSchooler thanks for your write, but everday i put the capsul(chlorine capsul)to pool, but capsul dont kill them
@@bextiyarqehremanli7724 You may need to add more chlorine. I found this suggestion online: A clean pool isn't inviting to mosquitoes. ... Regularly chlorinate your swimming pool and maintain disinfection levels. Chlorine alone will not kill mosquito larvae but will help in maintaining the pool's health and, along with the other steps, hinder the growth of mosquito larvae

I'm sure I'm late but I'd just like to comment on the fact that I've been told that tablets are mostly stabilizer. The amount of people I've had to tell to drain water or use NST is rather ridiculous, using tablets for anything other than a supplement to your pool can hurt the chemistry, clothing, and pool surface. It is my understanding that tablets are a one per ten thousand gallon situation
Wow! I've honestly never heard that about tablets. In Arizona they are the industry standard. I'll definitely do some research on that. Thanks for the comment.
@@PoolSchooler I would suggest looking at the trouble free pool website and forum. Those tablets are about 50% CYA and will consistently raise it to the point where the only way to get your CYA back to the 30-50ppm is to do a drain and fill. I get that as a pool tech, visiting this pools maybe once a week, the tabs are quite convenient to maintain chlorine levels, but eventually they will lose effectiveness and you'll get caught up in a vicious cycle of needing more tabs, which makes more CYA, which needs more tabs, etc. etc.
The most economical method of pool care is BBB. Using the tabs or straight stabilizer until you get your CYA between 30-50ppm, then going with liquid chlorine or bleach with around 6-8% chlorine concentration as your chlorinating method. To use tabs as your sole chlorinating solution, you would need to live in a place with A LOT of rainfall that will hopefully dilute the CYA in your pool, or be willing to do 2/3 drain and fills maybe twice or three times a year. I would only use tablets if I was going to be away from home for more than 2 days or so. They're great for keeping chlorine up when you're away on vacation.

Rule #1 Stay out of the pool stores! I have been running my pool for 15 years now and have found that liquid chlorine is the most economical way to disinfect a pool.Tablets are loaded with CYA and will over stabilize your pool over time. After your cya level is between 30-50 ppm pure chlorine is all you need. The first company that can manufacture chlorine pucks WITHOUT stabilizer will succeed.
My pool was green it didn't small bad but GREEN.. So i added 2 powder shocks and i put in a new filter.. Left it running all night.. The next day it was cloudy and still is its been 3 days now.. What should i do?? Add more shock and the filter again or add the liquid one?? Or buy some of the tables?? Any suggestions?? I've also watched alot of videos but im confused..
@@mariamora8394 Make sure your filter is working properly and keep it running until the pool is clear again. After you have the ph in the proper range, add 3 gallons of clorox.Next day add 3 more.Keep the filter running.Keep the chlorine level high adding 2 to 3 gallons per day until the pool starts going from green to cloudy and then cloudy to clear.Vacuum when cloudy.
@@thomassmith8156 its been on cloudy for 3 days now.. I think im going to change the fillter and add one more packet on the shock powder.. What do you think??

Bicarbonate is not hamful
The pH level with either ph up or PH down to three capfuls is enough the customer is required to put in a pool RX inside the pump basket or I will not service the pool there replaced every four months that's the black one I do not replace every 6 months because they have lost their potency after 4 Marc's and then every week I come back my pools are nice and shiny and blue and crisp and clean and looking beautiful I scrub a little bit I check the ph and chlorine and not as necessary it's not rocket scientist to keep a pool clean if the pH is low 7.2 to 7.4 you do not have any kind of green algae in the pool the trick is a pool RX clean filters every 30 days it might sound like a lot but you're actually spending half of your time cleaning the pool now and you're actually saving money on your chemical the customers happy and you're happy go grab a coconut donut and relax all these guys with these videos they're blowing their own horns and trying to show you how big your company is and what they say is Gospel and it is etched in stone remember low ph no green algae poolrx every 4 months no green algae three tablets in the floater no green algae done I'm out of here I got to go get a cheeseburger in Paradise
pool school making money off the amazon links? it has a tag on it lol

Put your chlorine in the SKIMMER if you have one .it's the best way
johnnie cameron that is a good suggestion for immediate “emergency” situations where you need to get chlorine into your pool quickly. But doing this regularly can reduce the life of your slimmer basket and even the pipes from the skimmer to the pump. Chlorine is corrosive.
johnnie cameron bad advice, don’t put tablets into your skimmer.
Never put tablets in the skimmer...just saying if there is a heater. You will have problems
