Snowboarding deep snow is one of my favorite parts of winter! Along with chasing winter snow storms and blizzards across the western United States. Living in a van or a truck, life on the road, there’s always new challenges that lie ahead!

I had a 7.3 Power stroke and I remember when the prices flipped. When the EPA demanded ultra low Sulfur diesel it increased refining costs. Then the DEF requirements changed the costs again. Also there is higher road use taxes because of OTR drivers using diesel. Stay safe in the snow country, we love your adventures!

The fuel costs SO much in Washington because it is a very blue state. Most of the higher cost is due to insanely high taxes on that fuel. In fact, Washington has just about the most expensive fuel in the US…all while being refined at locations less than an hour from where you were buying it…🤔

Jay Inslee is a huge climate change guy and we pay the price for this idiot to be in the governors mansion.
Hey doc. Stevens Pass is my home ski hill. Glad you made it up here to the great Pacific Northwest. Would have loved to ski some runs with you! Btw, you can thank our emperor, er governor, Jay Inslee for our outrageous fuel cost!
My wife and I hit Leavenworth every summer. We have fallen in love with this amazing jewel of the Northern Washington mountains. The people are awesome, food is amazing, beer is great, and the HILLS ARE ALIVE WITH THE SOUND OF MUSIC. Cheers, Dr. Hannah!

I lived 40 miles away from the pass. The snow slips there...avalanches every year. It's a good thing you're in shape.
I miss that place. Moved back to Arizona in early October.

I survived the great historic snowstorm of 1978 in northern Michigan. 25 plus feet of snow. I no longer love the snow as I’m older.
No matter were you go; the snowy mountains or the sunny beaches, you always have a great time. WOW 80' sheesh???, great lessons learned, always play it safe and go in pairs. Thank you for bringing us along Dr. Straight, stay safe!!
Welcome to Stevens Pass! The only far north regularly traveled pass through the PNW before they built I-90 and created Snowqualmie Pass. Some great snow pack out there this year.

I've been dealing with the diesel issue too...diesel costs less to refine and has been cheaper until the powers that be decided to take advantage of us....on another note, anywhere you are is warm, comfortable and inviting regardless of the conditions! Thanks for sharing! God bless!❤❤❤❤
Demand is much higher for diesel relative to the supply, so the price is naturally higher. It’s not the government or “big oil” taking advantage of you.

Diesel fuel is made using a hydrocarbon mixture that is a byproduct of the distillation of crude oil. It is denser than gas.
A byproduct sounds like it should be cheaper.

Awesome. You can get a battery powered Carbon Monoxide Detector for the sprinter to monitor the diesel heater.
Major props for continuing snowboarding after that Tree Well debacle. 👍 You were really wedged in there. Not to mention the 80' cliff you avoided! I'm sure you were glad to get down to the bottom of the run and had an adult beverage in the Sprinter Van afterwards...lol... maybe 2!
Welcome to the PNW! Fuel is insane out there!!! Leavenworth is really cool. BIG tourist trap in spring, summer, fall and frequented in winter.

I grew up in Iowa and living now in Texas I miss the snow. They shut everything down if it snows half an inch here. 😂

Hi Hannah ! ❤ FYI diesel fuel used to be considered a cheap junk fuel. Amazing how fast things , and priorities change. Safe travels !
Diesel is a component of oil that is made when gasoline is extracted, so it is generally made in proportion to gasoline. Thus, diesel cost is very sensitive to demand, since in general they can't up production (since it's tied to gas production). Heating fuel that people use to heat homes is actually diesel gas, so demand always spikes in winter time, and prices spike as well. (Tip, if you are running short in heating fuel for your home, and don't want to buy the 100 gallon minimum from suppliers, you can just get 5 gallons of diesel from a gas station, it's the same thing.)

Great adventure Hannah…I got caught in a tree well once and dropped about 20 feet backwards …. Took me a half hour to dig out…. Oh! You look beautiful wherever you are adventuring….. in the snow or on a deserted beach somewhere….. happy day Hannah…. State well and safe… see you on your next adventure…. Always Gary…..

Es gibt auch hungrige Bären und bei solchen Bedingungen können auch Lawinen auftreten und Rettungshubschrauber schlecht fliegen !:) 😘💋

Cracks me up I almost bought one till I tried to lift the front end , and the riding position back in the day was hilarious all stooped over back killer , engine was a bad mofo as we're most all the triples and that massive 136 x1 1/2 track !!! Good ole days rode my 530 ext for 20,000 miles all stooped over like that !!

Steven’s Pass is a no joke ski area. Glad it went ok. Tree wells and avalanche are the main concern there besides your obvious cliffs. I am definitely a Colorado winter activity person. Love seeing you getting out there in the powder. You’re very smart to not go alone. Be safe and keep exploring

Never too late to do boat life! I was stuck on I80 near Donner Pass/Tahoe a few years back due to snow slides on the way to a biathlon race. Made it to a motel that was sold out and the parking lot was full of stranded travelers. Slept in my Bronco II overnite. Would run the engine with the heater on full blast for 15 minutes and then shut it off and sleep until the cold woke me up. Repeat, repeat. It was 10 degrees out. The storm had dropped 17 ft of snow over a 2 day period. Race was cancelled. 8 hr drive for the adventure of sleeping in my truck. Stay Warm !

Great video. Hard to believe we have no snow in Toronto, Canada. I actually miss the lack of snow. I hear your story about diesel prices, it's insane. Yes diesel was cheaper, shortly after buying a diesel car prices reversed and the price keeps going higher. One theory is more people using diesel and the environmentalist want to eliminate diesel cause it pollutes less.

We don't get much snow in New Orleans LOL, Its 71 degrees today. You appear equally at home in the snowy mountains or on a tropical beach. That's why you are the Unicorn! 🦄🦄🦄
Good old US Route 2 the second oldest highway that is still in it's original configuration from east to west with a short section that goes in to Canada as was the plan in 1926. A lot of beautiful country. If you get stuck in some spot you just have to slow down and enjoy it.

The view from the chairlift while beautiful definitely felt a little unnerving . That roller coaster looked like it was a hoot .Be careful with snow build up around the van and stay safe out on the hill ❤
