I know he's lying. But it should speak volumes that not one of the sins dared to call him out. It shows that even if his claim was incorrect, he wasn't far off, given that he would be the only one who could get away with saying it. And in all honesty, it may as well be true. Lucifer is inept and complacent. Satan actually takes charge.
I mean they will roll their eyes at him though XD
@Direwolf181 Yeah, but they won't say anything.
Satan is an evil dragon
I think it’s because he’s the strongman, so he’s stronger than every sin below the ringmaster, and since he’s literally the sin of wrath (which means he likely has anger and aggression issues) they’re probably scared that he might kick their ass
He will lie about it because on how long Lucifer has been gone for
Someone *please* tell me that I'm not the only one who *loved* the part where Satan sticks his head through the flames during the "little mice" part?
That part quite literally had me roar out loud like some viking from the sheer hype of It all lmaooo
It’s just so powerful and intimidating!
It's so freaking cool! I love that scene
Nope you are not. That bit legit makes my brain go "BRRRRR" and sparks immense amounts of joy!
His devilish grin through the flames made my heart rate go up!
Even if he's lying, Satan feels way more like the King of Hell than Lucifer does.
@@dnmz1885 You are *absolutely correct* 🗣️🔥‼️
@@CptCannonmanI honestly prefer Lucifer as a ruler though.
Makes sense. He's the biggest thing in the room, he hold an air of power, heck he probably is the strongest of the seven, he looks strong (he's a strongman variant in the circus theme that is this hell), he seems to control fire, he's very dragon like with an impressive set of horns, and combine all that he's very devil-like. Honestly, you'd be forgiven if you thought he was the ruler of hell or even Lucifer himself.
He’s the first sin to actually be treated as a threat

Luci is officially strongest in hell
And between them Lilith and Charlie too
I love how he pulled the "B*tch you gonna sing a badass song about yourself in MY courtroom? You know who voices me?" move
I saw this song before any of the rest of the episode (I kind of follow HB periodically), but the moment he spoke I was like "Wait, did they get Patrick Page for this?" If you get a Broadway musical actor of that caliber you're basically obligated to include them lol
Considering the VAs they've gotten for most of the other Deadly Sins (Genie from the Aladdin musical, Jeremy Jordan, Kesha/a really good Kesha singing impersonator, and now Patrick Page), I wonder if they'll get any big-name singers/Broadway performers when they finally give Belphegor and Leviathan speaking roles, although tbf Mammon's VA doesn't rly have any significant singing experience to my knowledge

The part where all of Sins sing "he is the law" is so mesmerizing and dark. Despide Bee and Ozzie being so light-hearted and kind, in that exact moment they look menacing.
It's very effective too because a second later they are willing to eye roll the idea of Satan being the original ruler of Hell. Which means that while he might be lying about that, his current level of authority *is* something all 5 other sins fully accept.

I think we get a glimpse with the "little mice" line because Stolas suddenly looks as small as Blitzo in size comparison. Plus, for most of the episode, it's just that beak, but he suddenly has very prominent fangs.
This is my favorite part of the song Satan truly is an absolute devil and in charge of this very moment to the point he even lies that he was the ruler of hell before Lucifer and nobody corrects him because their most likely afraid of him and his power if you stand up to him or break his rules you pay the price…………
Why is it a lie tho?
@ viviepop confirmed that Satan lied that he was the original ruler of hell before Lucifer because Lucifer wasn’t there so he could do and say what he wanted at that moment
Well it's one of those lies that's technically true. Satan WAS the first of the Sins to fall. But his fall was part of the reason it took a long time for Lucifer to fall, and he was more like a mob boss. Nobody actually ruled all of Hell until Lucifer & Lilith were cast out. Satan likes to call himself King because of that period where he technically was King.
Meanwhile the other Fallen are fed up with his posturing to the point where they don't bother to correct him anymore because then they have to call down Lucifer, and Lucifer doesn't like going down to a trial, and then nothing ever gets done...
@@angelapolinar5343This is never said in the series. Don't pass off your theories as canon. It's not technically true at all.

I also like dragons especially Dragons who talk.
I gotta really wonder how this trial would have gone if Lucifer was there. We don't really know how seriously Lucifer took his job as ruler of Hell before his issues got worse. I like to imagine he kept Satan in line during trials like these.
Lucifer: Who the hell is blitzo?
Lucifer never took his job as ruler of hell seriously, being king of hell wasn't something he wanted or cared about. He took the title of king of hell because he could and because his pride wouldn't let him take anything less.
As for how this would have gone if he was present
likely the only thing that would have been different is Satan wouldn't have bragged about ruling the endless dark long before the golden angels fall, what with said golden angel being present.
Lucifer's big thing is he just doesn't care about hell.
He only cares about Charlie
Now... if Lucifer had decided to send charlie in his place so he wouldnt have to deal with it like he did with adam... now THAT would be an interesting trial
Considering that lucifer really doesn't care about his responsabilities and has zero hope in the people of hell, he probably would make part of the group who voted to just kill blitzø and get to lunch.
@ but that would make Charlie cry.
And Lucifer would never make Charlie cry.
Probably would Stolas would have been punished, but in not hard way like it was

I love sad dad Lucifer's character, but it's nice to see the "ruler of hell" be a giant terrifying devil. It matches biblical interpretation of Satan/the devil being of pure maliciousness and evil.
Evil yes but lawful as well as the judge of hell one that is called the deceiver
Charlie’s full potential has never been realized, largely due to her kind and gentle personality. However, if she were to fully embrace her demonic side, she can surpass Satan himself in power. I also believe one of the reasons Satan might be deceitful is due to his bitterness over Lucifer’s absence and being left to handle the “dirty work.” Interestingly, there is no concrete evidence suggesting Satan ever attempted to overthrow Lucifer or harm his family.
In fact, Satan’s leniency toward Stolas and the other members of the Ars Goetia indicates a level of respect or indifference. When it comes to Charlie, Satan might view her with a mix of mild annoyance and begrudging tolerance. From his perspective, the Hellborn seem more like sentient tools or automatons, the Sinners as expendable outsiders, but the Ars Goetia and Hell’s nobility as akin to true humans-deserving of higher regard.
Satan has more of an aura of ruler and king, and not only because of the title, but absolutely everyone respects and fears him, no one objects to his judgment... unlike Lucifer where it is seen that no one takes him seriously or respects him, even Alastor who is a very inferior demon insults him and plays with him.
Presumably even when Lilith was still around, Satan still had a ton of power to the point where he can get away with fibs like "My rule predates Lucifer's fall". We're basically looking at the de facto ruler of Hell for this entire time
Lucifer still solos all of them anyway and Alastor was only that bold because he’s know Lucifer wouldn’t lash out on one of his daughters companions.

The “little mice” line 👌
I'd like to point out how Satan talks about Stolas' "hubris", using the Greek word instead of saying "Pride". Because who represent pride? The one person he is second to.
So satan is actualy not fear Lucifer but i think he respects him, he knows he is depression and while he is gone he wants to make sure everyone respect himself unlike seeing him only a sidekick of Lucifer so thats why he lies about being ruled before Lucifer because he wants sins be fear and stay in charge

He is lying though and he is not a good king either since he is the one who directly created and enforces the social class divide. I think Lucifer was a good king at one point before he became depressed.
IIRC this is only technically true because he literally quit Heaven out of anger halfway through Lucifer's trial, and they had to find a new prosecutor to replace him. So yes, he "ruled" Hell before the Morning star fell from the sky, but he only took so long to fall because God wasn't expecting Satan to actually agree with the defendant he was supposed to be prosecuting.
Why did he quit? Er...I haven't memorized Avrahamic mythology like I have with the Pohnpeian & Egyptian mythos, but I THINK it was because he was trying to give a fair trial to Lucifer but Heaven kept berating him every time he backed off with his questioning. He also agreed with some of Lucifer's arguments, which made him an outcast even if he was still the Celestial Prosecutor. Eventually he just got fed up with the other angels' garbage and fell.

Finally, an actual ruler of hell who is intimidating and doesn't abandon his position or duties
Well tbf to Lucifer, Hell is more like his prison than his home. I bet if he had a chance to rule Heaven, before he fell, he would have loved to be involved and attentive. For Satan and the rest, Hell has been their home and nothing less, so it makes sense that they are really eager to rule because Hell is home to them, not a prison.
