Even if you're not religious, it's very beautiful and you can probably be moved by how so much people gather these crosses together, and how it can show off hope, togetherness and rising above oppressive circumstances
I truly want to go here. My great great grandparents on my fathers side were born in Vilnuis and my great grandparents on my mothers side were also born somewhere in Lithuania (grandmother was born in Ylakiai). I’ve always been fascinated with Lithuania. And the Hill of Crosses is one cool place.
Thank you for sharing this video with me. I never knew this place existed, again thank you for bringing a part of the world to my living room. God bless
I found this place on Instagram . someone made video of this place during night time. when I saw the video I was completely scared . for a moment I thought it's a haunted place because how a place can have so many crosses ? so many crosses that means the place must be a haunted place . then I searched this word on google A PLACE FULL OF CROSS and then google showed me this place and then I came to you tube. after seeing this video the place doesn't look like a haunted place . Instead it look like a tourist place.
Thanks for sharing and giving good explanation about this unique place! Two years ago, I brought my own small wooden cross on a motorcycle trip from Belgium and placed it there. It was the cross from my student's room approx. 40 years ago. Later this month, I will be travelling through Lithuania again, visit Kryziu Kalnas again and I am almost sure I will find my cross back on its place!
Yes, I have been there on Aug 24th and upon my arrival I found it back within 10 seconds! After two years the brown cross has entirely become grey and my text inscription has become faded out. But it is still there on it's original place!
It looks like a huge pile of wooden crosses :) But it feels heavy and quite powerful to walk around, you can’t avoid thinking about the amount of history and about people’s dreams and wishes on every cross you see
