This brings back memories of when my mom used to take me with her on the plane ✈️ we always flew first class and the upper deck of the 747 on American Airlines there were sofas and a piano
Lol I randomly thought of this the other day. One comment I remember from the original posting was someone saying that it made them nostalgic for a time they weren't even alive for 😊
You know, thank god someone had the ability to take these rare photos especially in the 70s, its such a nice thing to do as these days every person has a camera and camcorder on them, taking much more pictures of, if you like, planes and the like. But I do find it very appreciative of those people who took the time to load up film manually to camera and take pictures of these planes which have now turned to gems.
My mother and I flew in the American 747 with the zone E aft lounge. I had to use the rest room, we didn’t know the lounge was back there, I made my mom go back to see it. She thought I was making it up. She was very impressed, we sat and had a drink looking at the Grand Canyon below us. We didn’t have any more film to take photos. It was very memorable. I’ve always wondered what happened to the chrome lamps.
1:40 3-4-2 on B747s if you want to fly one you might as well go to Japan these days since NH has their 10 year old planes JA790A-792A with this setup formerly on JL B777-246/ER.
Unfortunately, I never had the opportunity to fly on a 747 but when I tell younger people that airplanes once had pianos and a bar and lounge, they think I'm insane. I have been trying for years , to find people who will run for office and get the Airline Deregulation Act overturned. Jimmy Carter signed it into law, giving rise to the corporate raiders that took all of these inflight perks away, so that they could stuff their wallets with bonuses. We need people in and outside of the aviation industry, who love it enough to bring back great service and make it safe again. There is no law that says that an airline CAN'T provide great service, fares and a top notch passenger experience....it's that they don't WANT to.😮 We can fight to change that.
So Jimmy Carter is a reason why U.S. airlines are so uncomfortable today? Wow. That's very interesting. My comment is NOT sarcastic either. I genuinely didn't know that he's the reason or at least one of the reasons why it's so uncomfortable to fly on U.S. based airlines today.
I was working in the middle east and travelled extensively through out the world. These are the flights I remember on the B747 First Class. Japan Airlines Tokyo - Los Angeles (Full beds upstairs with curtains) Best service of all the flights. Very attentive and personnel. Philippine Airlines San Francisco - Manila (Full beds upstairs but no curtains) KLM Amsterdam -JFK. Ordinary Lufthansa Frankfurt - JFK. Very nice with German efficiency and great food. 🤓
No entiendo porque quitaron esos sillones esos bares y esos lounges de la upper deck sería muy divertido viajar así no q ahira no quieren q nos movamos de un sillón tipo cabina con muchas películas y sillones camas, es muy anutrido era mejor antes
To us it is very 'retro' but to them is was brand new, suave, and peaceful. You could smell the new materials being made to these furnishings in their shiny splendour.
Ill take the old way of flying anyday ,fabulous cuisine , spacious ,comfortable and personal with fabulous service . Todays flying is ghetto , dreadlockes , ropes and other such things in their hair , no idea what good customer service is about , sloppy, dirty uniforms etc etc
Cabins are much nicer, better quality today. People just don’t like the passenger density of airplanes now. Back then, it cost a lot more to travel. People dressed up, had a wide seat, meals etc, but you PAID for it. Now people just care about price
The one thing all these have in common? Cushioning. The seats actually look comfortable. Today they are all 2” thick and hard as a rock.
I WAS ON EASTERN AIRLINES IN 77 TO FLORIDA
YEP THAT LOUNGE IN BACK
GOOD TIMES
I WAS 6 THEN
That change is due to a little thing called fire safety
They do seem to still be able to make comfortable seats in private planes
@@rhowerm I don't know much about the regulations in the industry, but likely they are different in private planes compared to commercial airliners

Notice how small the overheads are? People not bringing luggage on passenger deck.
Very glad to see this video back!!!

Great images. Love the tune.
Came for the cool airplane... stayed for the amazing 70's marimba solo!

Thank you for sharing a beautiful aircraft.😊
Welcome.

I loved the AA swivel seats. They had them on the DC10 too.

That will never happen. Money means more than people 😢

Back when airlines were given a plane with so much space, it made them make classy interiors.
Look what they took from us
Bring this back!
747 was truly the queen of the sky reigning over an amazing ere of aviation. Best flights ever were on a 47.
Fabulous!!!
Golden Era or Premium Travel on 747
Just imagine the 12 hours of 2nd hand cigarette smoke on a long haul flight you would get free of charge....
Oh, cigarettes only became bad for you in the late 80’s, before that they were fine.
I want my bedroom to look like these
Wonderful.... no further comment on the state of things today.
@@patagard8253 fly first/business on the A380 and it's just as nice or nicer.

You'll get hints of this in the movie _Airport '75._
:56 that would be amazing today.
One thing missing: Lay flat beds.
No tv for 7-10 hours omg
read and smoke lol
Everyone was forced to socialise 😆
there was screen movie with projector in the very best routes
@@visionist7 Great, now everyone is sociaIIy awkward, has ptsd, autism or other crap😂
I can practically smell the cigarette smoke
Yeah looks very retro...but give me the latest business class seats any day. Way more privacy and luxury than these antiques.

@@pipegarmichThat’s because bus people can now fly. Remember when there were air people and bus people, mmmm, good times.
wow
We really need to do better

Probably 🥴
