I love the overwhelm mechanic, it's very realistic. I've observed in HEMA skirmishes that when the teams are even there's typically not much action as each side probes for an advantage, but as soon as a single person falls the entire line gets rolled up very quickly. Likewise in this game, a cheap peasant (or even a dog) can often be more valuable than an expensive piece of equipment. You can't overestimate the importance of numbers on the battlefield!
I was very careful watching these worried i would spoil some of the game contents. This is me now day 3 having not watched one tutorial and i just love that the game will lend itself to you in a way that if you just patiently sit there and read and observe you will have an understanding of many of the game's mechanics. "half of the fun to find out for yourself" my favorite line out of the entire video. As long as developers are thoughtful in their creation most game content can just be figured out and that in itself is rewarding. Excellent work guys!
I just have to say, I bought this game ages ago and loved it. What I didn't expect then is the years of support that followed. I can hardly believe this is a financially smart move. I'm sure calling it done after a year of support and moving to the next project would have been better if only aiming for financial success. It seems to me like a product of love, I am deeply impressed and Overhype has gained a definite fan in me.
It’s like someone played mount and blade, saw all the things you couldn’t do in their engine and made a tactical rpg that fills all those gaps. Such a great game
As someone who played this game alot, i hope you will make a economic and management tutorial, because it's far more complicated than battle mechanics (yes) and because it's best part of the game in my opinion
Great video series. And I did follow it somewht closely even before watching it. The problem I keep running into is that I know I need to take 1-skull contracts at first...but these can be rather hard to find. Wages and food drain too quickly to go traipsing all over the map looking for them. Plus the recruitment cost of new fodder after battle deaths, just trying to keep 6-7 bros in the group.
I just bought the game + DLC. If a party member falls in combat is there a chance they die permanently, or is it always just accrual of debuffs via permanent injuries?
can i make a small suggestion lorewise or for imersion could you add books that expand the lore explain the beasts and so on so you could technically play the game without needing to look on wikipedia about things i know it would be useless but it would be immersive buying a book that explain mechanics and how a lindwurm works without actually having to open the internet and the more valuable the knolege the more expensive the book is(maybe add some small bonuses idk just a tought)
This game absolute masterpiece! Maybe they make new dlc about orcs and goblins. That will be interesting recuiting some rogue orc and goblins. Anyway congrats for that game, i play this game maybe 200 hours! And this my record! Battle Brothers 2 will be amazing!
You really should implement an ingame opportunity to check injuries on enemys. Cool thing would be, if the tooltip would explain it, if you have seen an injury in the past. Same thing with stats on enemys. I really don't know why games are lacking a bestiary, which again is only filling up, if you have met them in the past.
Who knows about DLC stuff, but back in a day, when the game wasn't even out, they kept saying that it wont happen and all the armor and stuff will end up on high-medieval period, not going into late medieval times. IMO it would be awesome if they evantually release a DLC with late medieval weaponry and other stuff that is missing even from periods they are using. Personally, I'd love to see something like this in a late game.
10 second of sad humor. Developer: hold tops is important aspect of gameplay because your troops have advantage in this way. After that: his guy on the top is died after first attack of bandits. Me: oh, I know now how it's works. Developers: well, I missed againe (his sad sigh...) Me: man, why you don't like yourself? I really love game. It's amaze and so atmosphere. But sometimes it's too random and because taugh.
battlebrothersgame.com/battle-brothers-faq/ steamcommunity.com/games/365360/announcements/detail/1295191820886237456 they answered that in their faq, they are lacking the resources to provide a translation (only 4 guys are working in the studio, one for management/PR, one for the artwork, one for the programming and one for the writing) and there are 250.000 words in the game currently which is nearly half as much as in witcher 3, which is a lot for a 4-people project, which was started as a hobby - alongside their dayjobs^^ there is however, an incomplete fan made translation.
The term "fog-of-war" has been appropriated by the gaming community and misused, but at least don't use it to describe simple, unexplored or too distant areas. Fog-of-war could, and should instead be used as a game mechanic to represent the unforeseen and complex nature of combat, which is what the term originally meant. Random weather events for example would be a fog-of-war mechanic. Sickness, mechanical failures; spies and traitors - - anything unexpected or even inexplicable with good and bad results,
Fog of war in gaming means unexplored or hidden areas of the map. It doesn't matter what the original non-gaming definition is or was; all words have context-specific meanings. You might as well complain about "horsepower" being used to describe car engine specs.
" and miss ofcourse" oh man i feel that

Many peasants are great and all until one of your peasants gets one shotted and everyone else flee for their lives.

By management do you mean battle management?
any advises?
This reminds me so much of AD&D 2e. So happy I found it.

Thank you guys for the videos! You are awesome! :D
I bought this game on switch and the control scheme is just genius. Wish the text for the contracts would be bigger for my poor eyes though.
Thank you, these have been quite useful!
I just bought the game + DLC.

@@mortimerpenguin success in work, we hope that you will grow up and you will have time not to resolve this issue
