I'd like to see the aledged 50 200mm. Nice review as always, Dustin. There is a setting to speed up or slow down acquisition for focus in the Nikon settings. I think it is A3 focus tracking with lock on. Slower is able to change locking acquisition I think.
@DustinAbbottTWI Remember try to change focus acquisition in A3 focus tracking lock. When slowed down for humans it supposed to hunt less. Faster speeds are for bird in flight tracking. You can make banks and assign tracking based on subjects for each bank with the speeds and assignments like people birds landscape banks A B C D ect.
I've had this lens since it was introduced for the Z-mount and have no complaints. It's a great lightweight, easy-to-carry walk around telephoto that pairs nicely with my Nikkor 24-70.
I'll be going this route too. Price is an important aspect for me. Also I'm still learning and playing. 24-70 f4 was a steal as a Z6II kit lens (as used ones are) and this Tamron covers the longer range. Cheaper similar option would be the 24-200 (as one lens only), but with less range and image quality. 70-180 (as an addition to the 24-70) would be few hundreds more with very good quality but it lacks the range I want to try out in my shootings.
@@DustinAbbottTWI Yea, me too. But it seems that Nikon very much dictates what Tamron is allowed to release on their mount, and a 50-400 would cannibalize on their 100-400mm.
@@tanmoydas825 I know, I am so pleased. But now I am in a bit of a pickle for my switch to mirrorless. Either go Sony or Nikon. Both have the 50-400. On Sony I could pair that with a 16-35 f/2.8. On Nikon likely the 14-30 f/4. One is 7 degrees wider, but a stop darker so as suitable for astro or indoors, and at the long end you need to crop quite a bit more to bridge to 50mm...... choices
Good to see more and more 3rd party support for Z mount but whats interesting so far is Sigma hasn't released a single lens for Z mount while Tamron has both rebadged and original designs available for Z mount. Edit: Timestamps aren't correct.
I ordered the Tamron 150-500 in the Nikon Z mount, but when it came in, I didn't accept the lens and cancelled my order because there was so much rotational "play" between the lens and the camera body (Z8) that I was concerned that the electronic contacts might mis-align. Has Tamron corrected their mount issues with this lens and do you know if excessive play is still an issue on any of their Z Mount lenses?
Does the etz21 pro works for adapting the new 50-300mm tamron onto z8? I dont know if it is a good time to buy this 70-300mm which is an older design lens
I am impressed with how Nikon is opening up to 3rd party lenses. The price gap is however much more between the sony version here(india) - given that the sony version is older. The sony version can be got for about 420$ as compared to over 600$ on the nikon. Being a newer version it would be tweaked & Tamron would probably market their 50-300 sony over their earlier model. I have the original sony version of the 70-300 and I have got sometimes amazing stabilization on the a7r5 as compared to the r4. I would expect with the way technology is developing across different camera systems that newer versions of lenses would get better tweaks and increase lens & camera communication unless there are artificial blocks. Sony should improve in this regard.

The proposed 50-200mm would be sweet.

I do hope that Tamron will release their 50-400mm or else the 50-300mm on Z mount as well!
I'd love to see both.

Nikon is converting itself as a huge money mongering shark.
50-400mm for z mount set for a mid September release.

Thanks for the video. Just as a hint: the audio from the Godox mic seems worse than what you used previously. Is it clipping slightly?
Yes, though that was on me for it being the first time I was using it. I needed to tweak the levels a bit.

That is an oddity.

I've looked at a couple of them now, and I have seen no issues.

I don't know the answer to that.
Stabilization is fantastic on the Z system
It is definitely really solid. Fuji does well with it also.

Agreed.
Nala 😻
She's a pretty one.
I own this lens for Nikon, and it is a bargain for its performance.
Agreed.
