- Today I shot my first ever hole out at the Admiral Baker Golf Course in San Diego. It's been 301 days since I started playing golf, and currently on the quest to break 85 on this journey from Scratch to Scratch.

We both started playing golf around the same time. I am shooting around 20 handicap currently. I have not had any lessons but i have seen all of yours and many others on UA-cam and i apply everything to my game. I record myself and break everything down, then go back out and try to fix the problems. My only focus recently has been short game and i plan to make that 80 percent of my game plan moving forward. I was on the range all winter and struggled with my irons once on the course, hitting on real grass until i added more extension and rotation to my backs swing and its been improving. Keep up the hard work and thanks for sharing. Your lessons have helped my game tremendously over the last 10 months. Good luck breaking 85
Dude your striking has actually got a lot more consistent. Looking like the lessons are definitely paying off. Keep grinding
That second shot and.... "I don't know if I hit him... But it felt pretty good"😅
I agree with you that your swing has never been in a better place. It's amazing to think that we have this amazing video documented journey of a decent athlete with a horrible swing to the amazing golfer that you're becoming!
I actually like this guy. I may even go back and watch his older videos to see his path to becoming a decent golfer. Lol
He’s always had some sort of ‘technique’ but has come along way
Year 1 was to become a decent golfer. Year to to be a ok golfer. Year three good golfer. Year 4 pretty good golfer. Year 5 scratch golfer :)
@JeromeRufin Good stuff. I like it. What year are you on?
After all thay done, will there be years 6, 7 and so on? @@JeromeRufin
Just skip to the dana dahlquist videos, they are gold
Perfect shot on the chip in too. Used the whole green to run it out. Love it!
"Come to papa" 14:40 lol, the local fan is the best
That cup placment on the 6th. Thats some Augusta level stuff there. Imagine having that cup placemnt on a double cut and rolled green as they would have durning most tournys or Championship sundays.
This is a good course for you. You can hit irons on most drives and your swing looks much better when you're not trying to kill it. Your distance control, on your short shots, will get much better with practice. Go to a chipping green, with a friend, and play closest to the pin, while shooting at all the different pin placements. Lots and lots of practice.
Respect the journey! Been great following along. Playing new courses is great and will probably help you score better tbh. Playing the same course or courses all the time can become monotonous.
When you don’t try to swing out of your boots it’s such a smooth swing.
Putting is the name of the game.
You have the swing to break 80 already.
Stop playing swing golf, just play golf and trust your body and mind.
EASY
I like the gambler analogy. Some wisdom in that for sure.
Let’s gooo! I always see you at mission trails now I’ll have to keep an eye out for you at bakers! You should play north it’s fun as hell!
Admiral Baker!!!
good stuff - not sure why you want Dana to teach the draw swing when you were rocking some absolutely BUTTER fades here haha. Very Morikawa-esque (I'd say of all the pros you resemble his swing the most). Keep it up!
I think he just wants to learn how to shape his shots, and not just have one stock shot.
Let's go Jerome. Love that Adidas jacket and pants
Make sure you mark/date save your first birdie, eagle or double eagle/albatross.
Dude you finally played Admiral Baker South, let’s gooooo!!! AB North is great too 😁
Keep it up Jerome.
LFG! Congrats
Looking forward to your card counting side channel.
Been here since Day 1. Your swing is looking great when you're not trying to kill it. I think youre close to consistent 80s:
*No more swing changes.
*Work on the short game.
*Work on putting.
*No, seriously, no more swing changes. You dont need anything but more reps.
You got this.
I think swing change is the wrong word but it’s more swing improvement
@@JeromeRufin even then, I wouldn't improve, change, or whatever right now. Just reinforce what you're currently doing. It's working
lol at 30:52 you were definitely aiming there Jerome.
Yeah my aim is one thing I need to work on
I like that card counting example. Kind of like regression toward the mean?
its been awhile since ive watched but your swing is looking better!
First year was to get full swing to look good. Year two is to get short game nice.
You arent gonna break 80 if you dont have something like a short game. You have enough length, but the course was also wide open other courses will punish you for being so off line. Pump the breaks focus on short game, which should be double the time you put on the range and set some realistic goals which right now should be breaking 90 consistently.
Hi Jerome, what’s your handicap now? Do you like playing? Have you entered any tournaments!
Let’s go!
Most fairways Ive seen you hit in a round. You took the driver out of your hand most holes and gave yourself a chance at scoring well. If you go back I bet you will realize 95% of your bogeys and doubles were from short game. Time for short game practice.
Slowly getting there! Keep up with the grind! Also arrange with one of your pros and do a playing lesson. Would make great content!
Looking good. Most beginners start from the Whites, but you started from the Blue and now shooting under 100. We had the golden rule of picking up after 8 strokes aka Snowman from the Whites to keep the game moving. You still have to learn how to use your shoulders and feet for Direction. A lot of your shots are pure and you think the club was opened. Nope. You'll shoot in 80's when you do what your instructors say. You are over swinging. Finish the swing with the club going towards the target and not behind you. Watching other golfers will make you swing differently-testosterone. Momentum will take the club behind you after you get finishing club towards target. Some of your finishes are under your waist causing a slice.
In the bunker rake out and place your ball so it's more like an actual bunker shot.
Jerome’s got crackhead energy 😅
You should try doing some 2 ball scrambles by yourself. See if you can immediately make adjustments and learn from your bad shots. You’ll definitely make more pars and birdies.
I see that Morale Welfare and Recreation (MWR) banner on the fence in the beginning. You on a Navy course?
Jerome, an MRI causes millions of atoms to spin spin in the same direction only a few will spin counter direction…those are the ones that stand out. Point is, don’t let the ones that stand out bring you down. Keep playing and learning and most of all keep laughing.
Congratulations on the sponsorship big dog 💪 stoked to see more full round on course content. #SoftMits2024 keep up the daily content bro. S2 member video one day together
Hey there! Hope you're doing well. 😊 I just wanted to share a little piece of feedback, and please know it's coming from a good place. I've noticed the occasional laughs and giggles in between shots and sentences during your videos. I totally get that it might be a natural reflex or a way to ease nervous energy - we all have our unique habits, especially when we're putting ourselves out there!
Your content is genuinely engaging, and it's clear you've got a lot of fans who love what you do. If I may, perhaps trying to be a bit more mindful of the giggles could make your awesome videos even more polished. It's just a thought from someone who truly enjoys your work and is cheering you on.
Remember, we all grow and improve by embracing our quirks and learning from feedback. Keep up the fantastic work - I'm really looking forward to seeing where your journey takes you! Wishing you all the success in the world. 🌟
I have never seen a tumbleweed in SD! 😮
Me either!
Would love to golf with you sometime dude!😊
I prefer to look out for quiet spots and play on my own. No need to rush then.
Zen Jerome
You hit a draw aim a little right of your target and trust it that’s why your missing left
i feel like after all the lessons you have had you could be really good but you definitely get a lot of anxiety when you are playing. you don’t really take the time to figure out your shots and you are always joining around. i’m not saying there’s anything wrong with having a good time but you just need more focus. maybe try and record a round alone
joking*
Love watching your videos you are making a basic error in my opinion you are not taking enough notice of where you are aiming your feet are usually way right of your target your brain will then compensate by changing your swing so everything you are learning you're not doing you need to pay more attention to your lines and where you're aiming a lot more attention
The lessons are great, the course play is a little disappointing because you show some real ability on the lesson tee. When you’re on the course it becomes about the game which is target, not swing. Target is your imagination programming your body as you saddle up to the shot at hand. See the trajectory, see and hear it bounce, see the roll out...act. It’s amazing how well you play when you master the visualisation in your pre-shot routine...and putting is just a variation of this.
I'd be interested to know if there's an average number of rounds it takes a good golfer to hit scratch, I'd imagine it would be hundreds of games!
It becomes a lot easier if a person has naturally good ball sense and is coordinated. Add in some smarts and you have a very good chance if getting there faster than most... would love to know the answer to your question though! 😅
well, less that 2% of all golfers ever become scratch.. so i'd say its quite a few
most will never get to scratch at all.. statistically.
Hold on .. at the start, your glove is on the left hand, and in buggie is on right hand.. you that cold ?
get a fade and a perm
When you gonna do a workout video?
You were hitting fades all day until the last 3 holes when you were in a hurry and started hitting baby draws. Sounds like you're overthinking your swing on the course.
I can caddie for you and get you to break 85 tomorrow
The groundskeeper is fully enjoying your misfortune
Haha a lot of misfortunes in the future but long term hopefully will be a good result
I feel like you can break 85 easily i just think you gotta focus more take it a lil more seriously I’ve been watching you work on your putting no way you missing so many 3 feet puts focus relax and you going to break 75 i can see it
Boia bimbo come sei duroooo 😂😂😂
Jerome - I have watched you from the first show. I had high hopes for you, but honestly why continue?
After a year of the best coach's money can buy, you are embarrassing them all, making a mockery of the game.
You have great athletic abilities, but your mental awareness to control yourself is lacking, stop laughing and joking.
Get serious about each and every shot.
if you swing is half as good as your clickbait titles, you'd break pars by now.
"I feel like a single digit handicap" *three putts*. Karma is a b 😂
Haha classic. Stay humbled lol
Please announce where you’re playing at the beginning of your videos. Name the course.
It was in the beginning :)
@@JeromeRufin I didn’t catch it! What was the name of the course? Only curious cause I’m in SD too and always looking to play new courses too!
It's Admiral Baker South. 68.8/120. His handicap differential was 28.

Hehe huuuuu hahaha gaahhh hahah huuuu
quintupled; quintupling\ kwin-ˈtü-p(ə-)liŋ , -ˈtyü- , -ˈtə- ; ˈkwin-tə- \ alternative pronunciations, though yours is wrong.
Good job. Work on things one thing at a time, like your last lesson. Yow will break 85 soon.
I would call that shot a chip in though any last shot that goes in the hole is technically a hole out, it usually is followed by a distance. I
holed out from 50 yards, but around or putting it's I chipped in, or I putted out or in, usually followed by a distance.
Think of the description of the shot as how to play it. Pitch, just like a pitch underhand, Lob etc... avoid words like, crush, kill, destroy, as these will tighten you up and you want to be loose. When hitting a jump shot would you think I am crushing this?
Think, smooth, relaxed, calm.
Cringe.
Can you talk without laughing?
Man you laugh too much. Maybe it's a nervous thing..
weren't you just whining about a 96?
With all the lessons taken,, kinda disappointing. Wish you better ball flights in the near future
I love the videos and I understand it's all part of the show but.....until you stop jumping from coach to coach and changing your swing over and over again, you will never be a good golfer.
I agree - stick with Dana - he's the man.
I’ve been with Dana for months now and he’s my permanent full swing coach. We are addiing a short game coach to the team as an addition. Don’t worry lol
These greens are diabolical

I started golfing about the same time as u. We should play each other. Come to gulf shores alabama. 30 min from pensacola florida, Beautiful courses for great prices. Me and my buddy just played a course in pcola for 30 bucks and it was dope
You should join Random Golf Club and try to get on the Breaking Series.
30:50 you were definitely aiming there
