It was released as the second single from Holy Hell, an album documenting the band's grief following the death of guitarist Tom Searle in August 2016 of skin cancer. The song finds Architects lyricist Dan Searle reflecting on the state of humanity and how we should face problems rather than pretend they don't exist.
I recently learned this song on guitar(I’m a vocalist) I’ve been thinking of doing a cover, but I just wanna say when I learned this song I connected with the song more.
im sorry i deal with graphic design, i gotta be perfectionist with stuff i work with and that font is just dreaded by everyone around me. im not criticizing the vid tho, its good to have it with lyrics! 😁
Judging by the video this song is about addiction. I believe the term 'royal begger' is about a narcissistic person who thinks only god is above them, and is waiting and begging him to make a change they desperately need in their lives. And, in doing so, push everyone away. That's why he says "do you wanna live forever alone?" The chorus is nihilistic, in a sense that the addict is like a bird in a cage, trying to escape. He can try and try but he'll never fly away, because of the cage. It's the price that they have to pay for trying the substance in the first place. And, at the end of it they're forced to obey it, because they're a slave to it. When he says "we're asleep in a hurricane" he's referring to how when an addict hits rock bottom, he's completely powerless and sometimes, incoherent, or even actually unconscious, as his entire world is being destroyed around him. It's a song with a dark meaning, but its also empowering to someone who might be going through it to know that what they're going through can be put into words so vividly and delivered with such passion.
As a current addict seeking a way out this exsitential hell. That is exactly what I took away from this song. And it is eye opening and helpful in that sense.
Ryan Robertson just celebrated my 3rd year free from opiates. You can do it my dude. Just know when you’re in the 1st year it’s gonna be unimaginably hard but find a way to get through it, because after that it’s gets easier and you will find yourself living your best life and being your best self. By then some things will have been repaired, such as relationships that were taken from us, if you were homeless then maybe you will be celebrating your new apartment, etc. Its a wild ride but buckle up and all will be well. I just lost 2 more friends in a span of 4 days. It doesn’t need to be like this anymore. Just know that I am over here thinking of you and rooting for you. ❤️
@@clintbeasthood9758 its not about addiction and its not about a person... its a message for people (royal beggars) ..Architects deals with social/political/environmental issues..they say that we must wake up(Overflowing with rage, yet we still obey 'Cause we're asleep in a hurricane )from this narcissist behavior that we have cause we are destroying everything in this world (plants, animals, etc..) only for economic profit and we will end up alone (do you wanna live forever alone?)...we are addictive to profit and we are not thinking clear we have lost our empathy to other living beings (Are you listening?
