There are two modes. Expression/let down and massage. It starts out in expression mode, but you will need to press the "bacon button"/mode button to change the mode to massage. Massage has a cycle set at 70, and 5 options of suction. Once your milk starts to flow, press mode again. This will take you into expression/let down. Here, you have 5 different cycle options and 12 suction/vacuum options.
