This is one of the most concise and detailed tutorial videos I've seen in a while. Thank you for taking the time to go through everything in a clear and detailed way!
I understood a lot of the game but I'm a person who learns by seeing rather than reading. This tutorial was a HUUUGGGEEE help. Very thorough. Thank you very much! One of the best UA-cam board game tutorials I've seen.
This game seems extremely fun and interesting. Also, it's Eric Lang, the master of streamlined yet deep mechanics. I absolutely love them. This is my next buy I think. Also, very good tutorial, I understood everything you were explaining.
It is a lot of fun but a challenging game for the heroes you must work together well and really think about your strategy. thanks for watching and commenting.
Thanks so much, always good to hear that it was helpful, these videos take a ton of time to complete so it really helps to hear that you guys like them.
Thanks, I really wanted to hit this one as it was the first video I did and what started this channel. I was also really looking forward to this game. I ended up scraping the first edit I did and filmed it over again getting different shots and cleaned up a lot of stuff. Thanks for the comment it means a lot hearing that the video was good and that people are enjoying it. I have been asked to do a play through video for The Others as well and I am planning on doing that as soon as I have time.
Learn to Play Games keep up the great work my friend. You got my support. Looking forward to your future vids. You gotta do a playthrough with the others.
Super great video. It really helped us a lot, thank you! We have played this game with my friends for the first time today and we have some questions. Hope you can help us. 1. If we run out of blue dices and we would need to roll some more what can we do? (base set 7 dice) 2. Can the sin player mark the Avatar as Marked Monster? (that needs to be defeated?) 3. If we defeat the Avatar can it be respawned? Thanks a lot!
Thanks for watching and the positive feedback. As for your questions I will double check later in the week when I am off work but from what I remember, 1. if you are out of dice for either heroes or the Sin player record your results and roll the dice again there is not limit to dice you can roll. 2. I think you can, I remember playing a game where I marked the Avatar. 3. I don't think so. basically there are two kinds of monsters those you start with and the ones that come in later from the mission kind of like the Hell club members once they are killed they are gone and removed from the game. I will double check the answers for questions 2 and 3 just to make sure but I think they are correct. Let me know if this helps and if you have any other questions that come up.
Thanks so much for the positive feedback. Thanks for watching and for the sub every person helps. Let me know if you have any questions or requests. Also let me know how your games go playing the Others.
Is there a hand limit for sin? Also for the story mission it first says equip upgrades equal to number of players, would the mission progress go up 3 one for each or just one space?
Such a good tutorial! Thank you so much! Yet, I have a question: what happend when you depleat the 5 faced up Upgrade cards? You take another 5 cards and put them face up, or just keep taking faced down ones from the deck whenever you must take an upgrade card?
Thanks for the feedback, and to answer your question on pg 15 it talks about when you take an upgrade card from the 5 face up ones immediately draw a new one to add to the remaining face up cards so you will have 5 up. Hope this helps and thanks for watching and for the question.
thanks, CMON has been very supportive of my channel and I really enjoy their games. Thanks for watching working on more videos for some different games soon.
Nice Video u got there! The only thing i did not like that much is, "almost black" boardgame parts on "almost black" background as well as black shirt with black background :D like the content though and nice explanation!
Thanks for watching my video and for the feedback. I am working on getting better software and computer gear that will help with that. When I edit it looks so bright and so I tone it down and some times I think I go to dark.
Great video, really helped me understand the game more. One question though where did you get the plastic tokens from as the ones in the box are cardboard.
Thanks for watching and for the question. So the plastic tokens are from an add-on CMON had during the Kickstarter and I think they sold them at some of the conventions they were at not sure if they are available on their website or if you could get them somewhere else.
great flippin' video!!!! The audio seems a bit low. I'd love to see a video done by you on Altiplano! Have you played Not Alone? - it's another 1 vs. all game
Thanks so much, With the audio I have fixed the problems I was having with that in later videos. I have not played Not Alone I will check it out when I have time. Thanks for watching and posting stay safe;)
I've got a question if you are still answering. When it comes to combat, each player has 7 dice to roll. What if you just keep getting FAITH rolls constantly. Do you bust out more dice, or end the roll after the 7th die? Some more details. Considering that you can buy more dice online, I figured you can keep going. So I just busted out normal die, and just got a sheet and labeled what each number (1-6) corresponded with what action, Fight, FAITH, Skill, and so on. I usually play the Sin, so when I fight Heroes and they get good rolls, they can end up rolling 20+ die and absolutely destroy me. I once Lost a game in just 3 rounds because of this. I was wondering if you had any thoughts on this, I haven't been able to find anything about this online.
Sorry for the late reply I went back through the rulebook and could not find it stated for sure, but normally with the burst mechanic in games you would just keep rolling. I have never had a game where players are that lucky with the dice to roll 20+ and feel there might be a rule you guys are missing or maybe they are just incredibly lucky with dice. From what I have seen and played the game is tilted slightly in favor of the Sins player so make sure you are taking advantage of all the features you have or try changing up the sin you are using. Just some thoughts hope this helps and thanks for watching and for the questions;)
@@LearntoPlayGames alright thanks for the reply. I am now, still unsure of that rule. I guess I'll just move my focus to the other rules to see what's going on.
Great video. My son and I love this game and have had a ton of fun playing it. However we have one question that I can not seem to find an answer for after rereading the rule book several times so maybe you can help. Question: In a corruption game the Sin player was allowed to do certain things based on "corrupted" districts or areas. I can not find a definition of what qualifies an area as "corrupted". We house ruled that it was any area with a corruption token. But there are numerous fixed corruption symbols so if that is the case then the Sin player would always gain the advantages since they could not be cleansed. So what defines an area or district as "corrupted"?
Thanks for your feedback and for the question I will see what I can find out. I will be meeting with Eric Lang this week so I will try to ask him as well and will try to post an answer to your question later this week.
Hey I was able to meet with Eric and got a chance to talk with him about your question and his answer was that a district is only considered corrupted when it has physical corruption token on it.
Awesome that is exactly the way we house ruled it. Thanks so much for asking him and getting clarification for us. Keep up the great instructional videos.
I just got the game and had an important question. I'm not sure if I should sell it because its worth a lot in the moment. It looks really fun, and thats where my question is. Can I still enjoy it after completing every mission and played as sins and so on ? Or is it just like : ok after you finished all available missions and so on you cant really have fun anymore. You know I think of games like Pandemic or so, which you can play really for a long time. But if I think of Time Stories or other games, which you just cant play anymore after one playthrough because you just know eversthing and how to solve the game, I would want it. So can I play The Others for a long time ? Or is it just the stories and afterwards done ?
Thanks for the question. So in my opinion I think that you could continue to play the game after you beaten each story card as there are variables to each game for example if you just have the core box you have two completely different sins to play with and for each story you have two different maps so the game will run differently on top of that each game the sins player will also decide which acolyte to play with. Each story also has different paths players will go down. So with all those different pieces you can change I felt that even with the core game you have tons of chooses and replay ability. Not sure what you have or if you were a backer on Kickstarter which will open up endless possibilities. Hope that helps you out and thanks for checking my video out.
Great video, and well done with your detail in describing the game. But there was one thing pained me to listen to. It is impossible to roll "one dice." Dice is plural. Die is singular. I know that's petty and nitpicky, but still something I wanted to point out
What happens when you roll all dice but still need to account for the hit dice? do you re roll the dice you have already rolled and keep track of what you have rolled or do you stop rolling at that point because you have ran out of dice?
Like the game but it seems not to be balanced. we are playing in 4 and I always play the sinner but I never had any chance to win. maybe we are doing something wrong. what's your experience ? did you ever won with the sinner ?
I think you might be doing something wrong as I have always found the game is set up against the heroes even the designer intended it this way. Or the other players are very lucky. This is just what I have found, but I also have not played it a bunch of times and once players get to know what the sinner plays like it might be easier to predict what he is planing. Thanks for watching and posting;)
Thanks for the question, So to answer it if the leader dies it works just like any other hero and will not end the game unless you don't have another hero to bring in to the game. Let me know if this helps if not I will clarify more.
So I would check out Lust or Gluttony both have some really cool effects and I think would be fun to play. Let me know if you pick any up and what your thoughts are when you play with them.
You might have mentioned that therefore sorry if the question might seem a bit stupid... How do I heal my wounds? Thank you for the awesome video! It was really really helpful!
Thanks for the question, So there are a couple of ways you can heal, first there is an upgrade card that will heal you once per turn and there are building tiles that have a city action space that will heal you. When you heal you can take a wound off any one of your spaces that have a wound on them. Let me know if this clears it up for you or if you have any other questions I can help with;)
thank you so much! one question! there aren't any tutorial in italian and this video helped us a lot :) in fact the first match we only had 1 turn and we understood 2 actions per round, and the sins fucked up us XD
Your welcome, glad I was able to help you learn to game. In your comment you said you had a question but I don't see one is there something I can help with or clarify?
about the others: the 7 sins you have great presentation and you are well organized, so I would love to see one. then you are free to do more for other games :P, I'd love to see them too :D
thanks for the sub, and I will look at doing one as soon as I have time. Still working on all the games I got from Gen-con to cover but I am working through them so hopefully not to long from now I will have time to cover one for you.
Good video ty. I think that the hero side is weaker than the sin side. After several games i never saw a team of hero defeating the sin. Maybe i missed something that would make the heroes less defensless ?

About time we get someone that explains in that depth and clear. Thank you very much!
Thanks, It is good to hear that my videos are helping.
It looked like a long video but watching it felt short and to the point. Great tutorial.
Thanks so much, I try my best to make my videos as short as I can, but giving you a solid foundation to start playing with.
A great, thorough tutorial. Thank you so much. Very much worth the watch.
Thanks so much for letting me know you enjoyed it and found it helpful.

Thanks for the complement and, I feel the same way about Eric's games he really is my favorite game designer.
Love this game but not played it for a while and this is a great tutorial to get us playing again.👍👍
Thanks
started off feeling pretty lost but slowly getting it. excited to play this with my frens! thanks for the great video :)
Thanks, let me know if you have any questions come up and have fun it is a good game;)
I have only played one game of this so far but I must say I really love it. Thank you for the help on figuring out the rules!
Thanks for watching and for the positive comment.
Thanks. Much appreciated! This is a great guide for first time players starting out.

Thanks, I should have one up for Masmorra soon and I will be working on a couple of other CMON games soon.
Super great video. It really helped us a lot, thank you!
We have played this game with my friends for the first time today and we have some questions. Hope you can help us.

Let me know if this helps and if you have any other questions that come up.
Thank you for your quick answer. The debate is still ongoing on the 'return of the Avatar'
But this is only natural when we are agaians it! :P
You seem like a laid back gentleman gamer, and you make great videos, so you get a new subscriber and a like! :)

Thanks for the comment and the sub.
At the end of turn, I think it's draw 2 Apocalypse cards choose one and place the other one at the bottom.
Yeah I'm p[retty sure I read that as well, besides that very good tutorial

Good video. The text helped avoiding it to be too long. One question. So the core box has only one leader. So if the sin goes after her it will win?
Thanks for the question, So to answer it if the leader dies it works just like any other hero and will not end the game unless you don't have another hero to bring in to the game. Let me know if this helps if not I will clarify more.
That clarifies it. Another quick one. of the extra sins which one would you recommend? I have wrath already. Thanks again!
I will look them over again and get back with you in a couple of days. It has been a little while sense I have had a chance to play:(
So I would check out Lust or Gluttony both have some really cool effects and I think would be fun to play. Let me know if you pick any up and what your thoughts are when you play with them.
