I just can't imagine how they could have missed/ignored the low altitude warning.... Did they think the warning was in error??
human error he already stated that!
@@ezragonzalez8936 If you get the list of passengers you will see what really happened.
I would think that to get the CO-Pilot his wings back he would have explained why the plane crashed. One guy said they were sleeping and another stated they may have been distracted based on dialog. There are too many questions with this video, I think parts were omitted for affect.
If you want a great story about cockpit resource management, check out United Airlines flight 232, July 1989. Captain Al Haynes and crew worked together to save 184 lives in one of the greatest displays of airmanship in the history of commercial aviation.
yes.
@@karronlaneNOLA The greatest landing in the history of commercial air travel. RIP Captain Haynes, RIP check airman and captain Fitch(joined the crew as he was originally a dead heading employee), they succeeded under the most dire circumstances completely opposite of this Eastern flight 212
Al was a great pilot. RIP Buddy. You were one of the best.
I remember hearing that after the flight 232 crash they did dozens of flight sim runs to test how the real pilots actually pulled it off. NONE of the simulations were successful. The changes that were made to pilot training based on what was learned from 232 were tested 15 years later during the 2003 Baghdad DHL attempted shootdown incident.
The crash site is, today, a housing project with no apparent indication whatsoever of the significance of the site. I doubt the residences know they are living on hallowed ground. I think it’s important to note that the changes to regulations made from this accident still exist today (sterile cockpit below 10,000’). It’s unfortunate but true: most aviation regulations are written in blood, so to speak. That is to say they are borne from accidents.
That rule is now followed with few exceptions. These days fellow crewmembers will pipe in with a friendly eminder. If someone stops the conversation almost mid-sentence the other (s) almost immediately get the hint.
The You Tube site, Pilot Debrief outlines these kind of incidents. It's amazing how complacent and arrogant pilots can become.
For some reason I don't even recall this crash. I was an 18 year old Senior in High School at the time so it seems like I should have heard about it.
True. Why not? After seeing most of these videos, I've been trying to figure out, where this airplane hit, but I'm sure it's all populated now with buildings and housings. Where the Walmar shopping center is now by I-485 is the approximate distance. Of course, there would not be a memorial. It's not important for real estate developers.
time to move on that is why!
I agree , as painful as it is , “ Let it go “
@@ezragonzalez8936 Harsh words if you were personally affected
@@steellio5526 , @ezargonake and @michaelsullivan should contact Steve Colbert and ask him if his mother and siblings every got over this crash since he lost his father and two brothers (18 and 15) on that day.
There is currently a Walmart/Lowes/Publix shopping center and subdivision surrounding the crash site. About10-15 acres is just field and trees. I am unsure why this hasn't been developed or who is the owner of the property.
Does every open patch of dirt have to be developed?
Pull up! Pull up!
As I recall they were talking about the Watergate break in
Fly it. Altitude . Airspeed
Fly the plane.
Al is a incredible pilot, and funny as hell too. There is no excuse, for this accident not to have recognized with a appropriate memorial.
It is unimaginable, how many life's, have been spared due to, the "Sterile cockpit rule". This needs to get done. Otherwise, the lessen, will need to be repeated.. It's only human nature after all ..
time to move on that is why!
Are you kidding ? There's folks who lose their jobs for something they said 30 years ago, even though nobody was harmed.
