Awesome job.Im over in PC and what these things are doing to our local waters is horrible. I have never seen an invasive species take hold so fast. These in our waters and the Pythons in the Glades are doing terrible damage with no natural predators to keep a balance.
I grew up in Destin. Lion fish have been a problem for years. I still fish that area couple times a year. The meat is actually pretty good. White, not fishy. Enjoyed vid.
Yes, it's not fair, using diving bottles make endangered species to lobsters, crabs, breams..... Good job with the lionfish but with other fish..... no words.

Would appreciate you feedback, Remember always to watch your Six, I have had many experiences with ever curious Barracudas following me as I swim or dive, just a suggestion from my experience!
Hey Capt. I use a Zookeeper www.zkstore.com/. By far the best tool out there. It is semi sealed and blood does emerge but it is very safe and efficient. I use a 6 prong tip that does have a few barbs but the Zookeeper entry strips the fish off of the spear, no problem. Hot water is the best remedy for a lionfish sting. Monitor closely and if you have a severe reaction, seek medical attention. I try and get the lionfish into the zookeeper as fast as possible. It keeps hungry sharks, cudas and other species from getting too hungry!
This fish is native in my country, but I didn't know that they can grow and breed that fast in other ocean I have never seen they are grouping that much 😂😂😂
Not important though Yup. That's what happens when something is introduced somewhere else and has no natural predators to keep its population balanced.
Bonus 1 and 3 seemed like lobsters, but what was Bonus 2? I couldn't tell what it was. And why catch Bonus 4? (can't tell what fish that is) I thought the idea was to catch lionfish so that other creatures like lobsters and Bonus 4 can thrive.
I've been poked while diving, on the boat, while filleting.... Every poke is different. I've had some stings that were extremely painful and others that weren't so bad. Couldn't tell you why one is worse than the other.

I like how every lionfish is so chill while their buddy next to them is getting slaughtered
Yeah they don't seem to brite
Can't get enough of this invasive species. Glad you tirelessly documented this lionfish spearhunting vid. My endorphins are rejoicing. BRAVO
This is kinda satisfying to watch 😂😂

The thing is, now they hide at depths below where divers can reach to, and some of them are wising up to only show up after evening.
It's like those guys that pick up trash on the side of the road lol

I guess they're the equivalent to the Crown of Thorns starfishi in Australia... but at least lionfish are edible
actually they require special handling and cleaning, since they are really poisonous.

Poor bonus 4. It was put into a container filled with venomous spines…
There are so many of them in such small spaces !
Has anyone else said this, "like shooting fish in a barrel."

have they finally wised up?
@eedd sdsd he's talking about the state of Florida in the United States
I’m dying to try them out, supposedly they’re delicious.
That is insane! I didn't realize how invasive they were! There had to be like 100 or more of them just hanging out there.
Very nice. I wish I could have participated!

That's awesome! You're a lionfish killing machine!
Love it, great work.
Great video! You’re gonna need a lot more bags!
Great Meeting you Alex ! See you at the next derby ?
Do they always orient to structure like that? Are gloves adequate protection?
Thanks for taking some of them out.
They hit the jackpot.
good job, grouper looks on the small side?
Killing the groupers is part of the problem with the lionfish.
Buen trabajo felicitaciones👏👏
So exciting !!!
That looks like the most satisfying job in the world
Awesome!! Thanks for helping out the oceans by keeping these nasty buggers down!
Oh, you take your "bonus" with diving bottle? is it legal? for lionfish ok... but the rest? really?!
I mean i dont think spear fishing in general is illegal, nor is using a zoo keeper
I don't mind hes getting some bonuses other fishes (if they are not in danger of extinction of course)... he's helping more than doing harm.
Actually it's illegal. But for lionfish, snakefish and some other species is ok

Y u kill everything? I thought you only kill lionfish
They'll also kill other good eating fish if their not endangered
Your math is a bit optimistic... those lion fish only have a couple ounces of meat on them, up to maybe half a pound. So about $2500 max.
I harvest other fish for my friends and family to eat. nothing is wasted.

At what point do you just get explosives and make a shockwave near them to just kill them when they're grouped up like that.
