Oberlin College coach says she was ‘burned at the stake’ over her views on transgender athletes

- Oberlin College women’s lacrosse head coach Kim Russell broke her silence about transgender inclusion in women’s sports in a documentary for the Independent Women’s Forum on Tuesday.
Russell, who became the head coach of the Yeowomen before the start of the 2019 season, talked about how administrators and her players ridiculed her after she posted on her personal social media account a message about Lia Thomas winning an NCAA Championship in the 500 in 2022.
In the video, Russell reposted a headline sarcastically congratulating then-Virginia swim star Emma Weyant for the victory over Thomas, a transgender female.
Russell wrote in the post, “What do you believe? I can’t be quiet on this… I’ve spent my life playing sports, starting & coaching sports programs for girls & women..”
The post ignited a firestorm within Oberlin College - a liberal arts school in Ohio.
Russell said she was called in for a meeting with administrators after the post.
They reprimanded her for the post.

Didn't Oberlin learn their lesson when they had to pay that bagel shop like 35 million dollars? How do they even have any endowment left?
Oberlin was sued for libel and paid a $35 million fine to a local family owned bakery. They were wrong then and they are wrong again.
They obviously don't catch on very fast, do they?
Their endowment is about $1 billion.

I live near Oberlin College. The funny thing is, it is in the middle of a rural area west of Cleveland, that is actually quite conservative. It’s kind of a little island of liberalism, in a sea of conservativism. I bet most of the people they hire, like for maintenance or office workers, and maybe women’s lacrosse coaches, tend to be conservative people.

A small clue that Charles Finney , Vice President 1851-1866 of Oberlin U. an Evangelist and Frederick Oberlin would have been
thrown under the bus if heard on campus in 2024.

She clearly said her “objectionable” statement was made in her own time on social media. That’s not “at work.”
